In this episode, Wheeler announces that she is pregnant, noting that the baby's father (her ex-fiancé) is in jail. The father was played in earlier segments by Julianne Nicholson's real-life husband, Jonathan Cake. Their real-life daughter Phoebe was born a month before this episode actually aired.
This episode continues the tradition of having the same actor portray multiple characters in the Law & Order universe. Dennis Boutsikaris (Dr. Ernst) has appeared in four different series (including Criminal Intent) in the L&O universe, playing a total of eight different characters. He appeared in seven episodes of Law & Order (1990), in five of which he played defense attorney Al Archer. He also played doctors in the two other L&O universe series: The X Files (1993) and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999).
This is one of several times Bayside High School is mentioned in the Law & Order Universe. In this instance it was a yearbook, but the Bayside Tigers are mentioned in the original and SVU in addition to this series. This school is better known as the alma mater of the series Saved by the Bell. This was not done to suggest Law and Order shares the same world as the Saturday morning children's show starring Zach and Screech. It was simply because it was a school name NBC already owned the rights to use.
