Exclusive: Ryan Phillippe (American Murderer), Emile Hirsch (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Mena Suvari (American Horror Story) will topline Kalahari, a new action thriller from Vertical, which has wrapped production.

Vertical fully financed the pic and has taken North American rights, with Voltage Pictures locking down rights for all international territories, preparing now to present the film to buyers at Cannes.

In the film written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil (Collide), a young couple is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert aboard a rickety plane after an extremist militant group threatens their lives. Piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Hirsch), the plane loses power and crash-lands in the middle of an animal preserve populated by lions, leopards and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group must fight for their survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Devil's Workshop, which will be scaring audiences starting at the end of this month. This is a special red band trailer for this freaky superntatural horror, mostly for all the blood. It's being described in the marketing as a "psychological thriller" though it plays more like exorcist horror. A struggling actor spends a weekend with a female demonologist to prepare for an important audition. Lionsgate will be giving the supernatural horror film Devil’s Workshop a theatrical, digital, and VOD release on September 30th, and with just a couple weeks to go until that date arrives we’ve gotten our hands on a red band trailer for the film. You can check it out in the embed above.

Written and directed by Chris von Hoffmann, who previously directed the horror thrillers Drifter and Monster Party, Devil’s Workshop has the following synopsis:

Struggling actor Clayton is desperate for a role as a demonologist. He contacts Eliza, an expert in devil lore, to help him prepare and spends the weekend at her home.
