When Charles Miner comes to Dunder Mifflin, he says he used to work at Saticoy Steel. Saticoy Street is the street where the building used for the exterior shot of The Office is located, as well as the sound stage where The Office is filmed, in Van Nuys, California.
John Krasinski said Idris Elba was initially an intimidating presence on set, due to the ruthless character he plays on The Wire (2002). However, Krasinski said Elba proved to be "incredibly nice and incredibly funny."
While talking to David Wallace in New York, Michael says, "I've never driven my car to the top of Mt. Washington." Mount Washington in New Hampshire is the tallest peak in the Northeastern United States. Driving to the top of the mountain is a popular family activity for residents of the region and "This car climbed Mt. Washington" bumper stickers are commonplace in New England and other Northeastern states. There is also a Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh.
This is the second time Michael uses the "I hardly know her" joke ("Miner, I hardly know her"); the first being Safety Training (2007), when he says "Baler, I hardly know her".
Michael makes a couple of jokes using a British accent, a nod to actor Idris Elba (Charles Miner) being from London, England.
