Next day Nucky makes an agreement with the smuggler Bill McCoy to buy 500 crates with Canadian whiskey for 35 grand. Trivia

According to Shea Whigham an unexpected perk was that real gourmet meals were served during the opening dinner table scene, of which the actors could dine on as they pleased since fresh plates were served for each take. See more »

Goofs

The record Colosimo is playing on the phonograph in his restaurant just before he is killed is from the 1930's, not 1920 or before. It is an RCA Victor "Red Seal" record, in 1920 it would have been branded simply "Victor" because RCA didn't buy Victor Talking Machine Company until 1929. Also, the end of the record has a spiraling groove in the blank space around the label which was never found on records until they became electronically recorded in 1925, records before this time were recorded acoustically. Finally started Boardwalk Empire. I'm hooked after the first episode. As a huge gangster film/tv fan this speaks to me perfectly. The episode has a who's who of Prohibition era gangsters so It helped following characters of the bat. Scorsese is my favourite director of all time and again he doesn't disappoint. There are some weird cuts and edits which someone mentioned in an earlier review but other than that, one of the best pilots I have ever seen. Can't wait to see if the remainder holds up to this quality! 👍👍
