Maybe you have to have been a stay at home parent to really get this movie. They nailed it. I felt so seen. "What happened to my carefree wife?" "She died in childbirth." So poignant.

The dog business was weird, but seemed like post partum psychosis to me. Having had PPD and been in that well I related to so much of the character. She doesn't even have a name! She's "mother." Amy did a fantastic job in every aspect. It definitely made me want to read the book as well.

If you've ever been a mother in a deep dark place, this movie shows the depth of that along with the hope for the future. Mother just needed to be accepted and acknowledged as a human being with needs of her own.
