I generally avoid all trailers or finding out anything about a movie before I watch it. This strategy worked amazingly for this movie, as it was a delight discovering the premise. At one point I thought, "Wait, there's no way it's about this." And later, "OMG that is what it's about, rofl."
As a dark comedy, I found this highly entertaining. I laughed a lot at the absurdity. And I was fully rooting for her the entire time, which is definitely helped by another fantastic performance by Amy Adams.
And the Scoot McNairy resurgence continues. Although after this and Speak No Evil, he seems to be typecasting himself as the worst husband ever.
This is also a love letter to mothers. The best complement I could give this movie is it made me want to see my mom more often.
Overall I think this is a good movie for a single viewing. For me, the only thing holding it back from being great is that it didn't go crazier and take the premise further. I get that's not the point, but I still wanted it to go all out.
