I paid 3.99 for the rental on Amazon. Was not worth the price but I was desperate to watch something and this looked decent. Not horrible, not great --sorta has a lifetime movie whiff about it and other parts seem ordinary. Follows a man running from everything in his life and finally decides to make a stand. (Against an Asteroid) (YEAH!! I rolled my eyes too). Had enough interesting characters to keep me interested throughout but not 3.99 worth. Lejon Woods carries the film. 5.1-5.7 out of 10.

I had expected a bit more laughs from the 2021 comedy drama "Asteroid" after having read the movie's synopsis and giving the movie a view.

Now, I will say that writers Dylan Avery and Korey Rowe actually managed to put together a storyline that definitely had some interesting aspects to it. But the movie was just lacking in the comedy department. And the movie's cover/poster was overselling the movie quite a bit with all the flaming meteorites.

The storyline was enjoyable for what it was, though it wasn't a particularly outstanding or memorable storyline. It is one of those movies that you will watch once and most likely never return to watch a second time around.

The movie starred Cuyle Carvin and LeJon Woods, both of which were unfamiliar to me. But I will say that they carried the movie quite well. So they were certainly well-cast for their roles.

"Asteroid" was watchable, but it is hardly a movie that I would recommend you rush out to get your hands on.

My rating of director Dylan Avery's 2021 movie "Asteroid" lands on a somewhat mediocre five out of ten stars.

The story is an asteroid is heading strait for the house purchased that week by a family. The script idea and running jokes is actually goofy but not that bad but it never translates to laughter. The lead roles seem to take their roles a little too serious is probably the problem. The acting is actually decent for most of the main characters and that is I think the problem. It's a Gene Wilder kind of romp minus the chemistry that Brooks and Wilder brought to the screen. The absurdities were not quite absurd enough to make you laugh. The premise so stupid, but the actors are otherwise functional. So you do not get the Pink Panther kind of incompetence to explain away the absurdity. It is I hope not meant in any way to be a serious action or mystery film. Just a comedy that never generates the chemistry needed for the laughter.

The storyline looked promising and that's why I decided to watch it, but the acting is terrible and I don't think the script could even be saved with great acting. The best part of the film was the synopsis on Prime. Basically unwatchable...you'll hate yourself if you do.

5 seconds in, and the teenage daughter acting put me off. 10 seconds in, and the mother opened her mouth. 3 seconds after, the father.

Then I saw the horrible lines coming from them. And with some of the worst acting I've seen in a very, very long time. I mean, no amount of acting could save that script. But I'm also not sure if any amount of screenplay could save that acting.

Couldn't get past the first 10 minutes without skipping forward to see if the absolute atrocious acting and screenplay got better.

Spoiler alert: It didn't. Save yourself the 5 minutes of debating on if you're going to watch this movie. It's awful.

I decided to give this a go because of a review stating that it lost its way a bit. It never had a direction in the first place.

All of the acting is cardboard-like that I remember from educational school videos I used to watch as a kid in the late 70s or those really boring and poorly shot training videos you'd get to watch when starting a new job. The camera is static and seems to be shot from the same angles for each shot and the characters are framed far too centrally to give it any sort of natural feel.

When I first checked this out on IMDb yesterday it was rated 6.4 so I thought why not. Now, this morning, it's rated 5.4. Such a massive drop I can only assume friends of the production team rated it first.

I did give it a good go, but I just had to skip through it and see if there were any scenes or effects to help redeem it and absolutely nothing found.

I have a feeling that the ratings on this are going to plummet further.

Dear GOD...when the daughter opened her trap for the FIRST TIME,I knew this was gonna be not just a disaster movie...but a DISASTER OF A MOVIE! This movie could have had potential,but the acting is SO BAD,that I couldn't get into it no matter how bad I tried. The dad's acting is the best part of the movie,but even that couldn't save it. There are FAR BETTER disaster or apocalypse movies out there...trust me. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND giving this one a great big PASS!!!!

Surprisingly fun movie considering the budget. Most of the acting was about as you'd expect for a movie if this type. The lead actors turned in good performances. A few of the smaller parts were decent enough although to be fair, a lot of what might feel like stilted dialog can often be attributed to editing so...

Anyway, the story is fairly interesting and engaging once you realize which direction the ride is going. The ending was mostly satisfying but could have been so much more in my opinion. Again, budget constraints are probably to blame, not lack of imagination as seems fairly evident. I will absolutely recommend this movie to friends.

Starting this movie up I was expecting another cheap Asylum disaster flick. Thankfully it wasn't, it had better production values, better acting and a rather solid plot. The humor was just right, and all the actors provided a nice ensemble. Hope to see a sequel to see what happens next.

Pick one.. storyline, writing, directing, acting, scene, photography, effects, wardrobe.... The perfect storm of the worst of all components together in one bomb of a production. Hope these 'actors' kept their day jobs. If one of my students submitted this I'd have them expelled.

I could watch end of the world movies all day, and to that end it does it successfully. On a small budget, it's a very entertaining 90 minutes or so, a bit of mystery also mixed in just to keep things interesting.

One thing that surprised me is how funny it is, some of the jokes are quick-witted, although there's a weird 5 minute period of pun jokes, guess the head writer was on a lunch break. It never takes itself too seriously, making use of the low budget in creative ways.

The cast and characters were great, all likeable and enjoyable, as befitting of an American small town. It was the first film I viewed on Tubi, and I watched it to be entertained, and for that it was a great success. Recommended!

I watched free on YouTube and wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised Sure it was obv low budget without alot of special effects but I enjoyed the storyline and the characters.

I'm sorry makers of asteroid if I wanted to watch family/people drama/comedy I'd chosen this film but I wanted to see an actual asteroid smashing into earth and destroying most of mankind and life ( just kidding of course) but seriously the film was mostly talk and people interaction . I'm a diehard sci-fi fan and there was no sci-fi in this movie advertised as sci-fi film. So it's a no for me but maybe not for you!

I made this account with the sole purpose of hopefully saving your eyes from arguably the worst thing ever filmed in the history of film..I wish I was exaggerating.

That being said, part of me however feels genuinely invigorated in life because if a movie like this can get funded and distributed, TRULY anything is possible in this world..For that reason, and that reason only, ill give it 2/10.

Wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time, but the reviews on Amazon were a 3.8 out of 5, so I started the film, not knowing how excruciating it would become to watch just a few minutes of it. As a comment states somewhere above, when the daughter spoke for the first time I began to doubt my decision. So staged it is hard to imagine without watching. Mom talking made it worse, but I still had hopes for the movie. Btw, it might have helped to have actors playing mom and daughter who are not about the same age in real live. Just saying.

Dad eventually left the house to get the internet fixed for his city life daughter - and that's where the movie lost me. I mean, come on! Make it real! The conversation in the internet store was SO staged, so fake, the smile of the salesman so unreal... I fast forwarded a bit to see if it got better, but nope. And that is where I pushed the stop button...

If you are a glutton for punishment, go ahead and watch it. If you are a normal person with normal taste for action/end of the world films, avoid this one.

I'm not sure why I watched the entire thing. I guess maybe because I haven't neen very exposed to these super low quality US movies before so I'm fascinated and need to form an opinion. Bit honestly I don't know why people waste time making this stuff (money of course, although it's hard to comprehend how it can be profitable.) I'm giving it an extra star becaue the tempo of the movie was good enough to keep me wondering if there was going to happen something interesting, but no, other than taking some shots at corporations stealing our information and powerful money interests doing anything to make a buck this movie offers absolutely nothing. Don't waste your time. The few bright points are not worth it.

I'm giving it a 7 because it's clearly a comedy, and within that structure, it worked really well - it was even hilarious. I'm cutting the producers/directors some slack. I haven't looked it up, but I suspect this is a beginner effort?

I don't know why it's listed as a drama.

It falls short at the end, where it abandons the comedy. An opportunity was missed here, by veering away from the 'madcap'/farcical/goofy-guy-comedy that it had been throughout, into genial feelgood territory.

Also, worth mentioning is that a lot has been created from not very much in terms of resources and a fairly small cast.

It isn't anywhere near being a 6.7, though.

Oddly enough, all the actors are spot on (within the context of a comedy). The acting's good, the characters are completely believable, within the strange world they inhabit.

It has a slight flavour of a British end-of-world series called You, Me and The Apocalypse, in terms of the subject matter and the absurdity.

I wish, here, they'd kept better focus.

Oh. Good grief. The director is described on Wikipedia as being a conspiracy theorist. Well, nevermind that. I didn't know it before or during watching the film, so it didn't colour my viewing. It might explain the lack of focus, I guess, if it's supposed to be a message movie? Also, turns out he's from Oneonta LOL Watch it for the laughs :)

I know about A movie, B movie. Maybe even C movie... Unfortunately there are only 26 letters in our alphabet!

There is nothing to describe the total crap this movie is. When I think people are starving and some are getting paid for such a poor performance on a lousy plot!

Very bad acting and dialogs.

If you intend on paying anything to watch this movie, please think twice and run away. Save your money for something else. It is not worth the paper the ticket is printed on.

You know it's a good movie when it hooks you in from the very first scene. I haven't seen such a fantastic movie like this in a long time so it was very refreshing to watch a movie that had a great plot and great acting from all of the characters. The characters all had a lot of chemistry with each other which made the movie enjoyable to watch. I understand everybody has different opinions and expectations but do yourself a favour and watch it for yourself first before deciding not to watch it by other peoples reviews. If you like Deep Impact, then you will absolutely love this movie. One of the best disaster movies you'll see in a long time.

Unwatchable doesn't even begin to describe this film. I had to apologize to my television for showing this garbage. I feel that a part of me has died inside after watching this. Hopefully, time will allow me to forget I ever viewed this.

15 minutes into it realised this was low budget. Naturally I didn't have my expectations high.

So yes, not the best cinematography, but I loved the acting (for non mainstream actors) by the Dad and daughter. She was brilliant! Hope she gets bigger roles.

The movie is fun to watch, and definitely not crazy Sharknado stuff. It's a pretty darn decent movie for its budget. Definitely worth watching to see the natural life real reactions between parents, kids & their technology.

Some parts were great to get you moved & teary for a budget movie.

Disappointing to not see ANY asteroid footage 😂, but hey, definitely worth watching for the characters of the lead and the daughter. I'd love to see her more often 👌

The whole movie made no sense. The plot line was pointless and empty, we had no idea what the premise of the movie was throughout the entire move. The acting was HORRENDOUS, it was forced, bland, and monotone. The ending was like "wtf? That's it?"
