Clearly triggered a lot of tone-deaf viewers
daviddilligaf1 November 2020
Basically Talking Dead for The Boys. Does a perfectly fine job with some insight from the cast and crew.

Reading some of the 1-3 star reviews on here, you learn how tone-deaf some of the viewers are. The fact that people are complaining about about political views being expressed in an after-show about an obvious and pretty in-your-face political satire is quite frankly hilarious.

5 stars bc the Boys is such a great show

Warning: Spoilers
First off I understand the thought process that you have a moral responsibility to declare your truth when given a chance and all the actors probably do not get that chance during interviews with other sources. But to have the show feel like agendas of other sorts, seems so "Vought" to me. So far after watching all the episodes of the after show this far, I have learned all want you to vote, from the opinions expressed from the actors/writers they want that vote to be democrat. Religion was the butt of a few jokes. Inclusion to race, gender, gay is a focal point on several episodes which is good except this is a show about superheros being humanized and "the boys" who would be the villains normally, are shown to be fleshed out so well that you cheer for them over the heros. Talk about the show more often and the moral dilemmas the characters face. Talk about the source material more often, not just in passing. Talk about the show as opposed to the graphic comics their based off of. That is what talking dead does and it works. Make this show fun with more trivia for the audience. Talk about the outfits the superheros wear and if their as uncomfortable as they seem, like ATrain or Homelander. There is alot going on in our society right now and yes it's important to use your platform to be a voice of change, but we watch television and tv shows (specifically on commercial free streaming services) to escape from this kind of constant wokeness. If I want to watch CNN or the View I can watch them on their network. Talk about the show more, that is what the audience truly wants to see when they find this series. Besides starlight, who else has read the source material...shoot four actors on the show could not answer any trivia question about the actual episode in one show. Prep them before you start shooting. So they don't look so clueless to the show they help create! So many great actors, let them shine more.

Five Stars for Honesty
xXtheoversoulXx4 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wanna thank Kripke for his brutal honesty.

What an underdog tale: a band of evil henchmen, an all-powerful government, and one man who dared to take them all on. It really gets Kripke's goat that the underdog won. Well, you can't script reality. Or can you?

See you in November, Kripke. You're gonna need a container ship of Xanax, or whatever you huffed before this puff piece, bub. You were literally shaking.

Five Stars for Honesty

Could use a better host
devries-stefan28 April 2021
The format itself isn't so bad, it's the host that makes it so incredibly cringy. Very scripted and very fake. Maybe if someone else hosted it it would be great!

Great!

Inside The Boys is something I wish I knew existed before I had finished the show. It is a fun backdoor to the world of making that fantastic show, as they not only interview the cast, but also the crew. We get to hear from set designers, and writers and costume designers because the glory of The Boys comes from all of these individual departments being more than the same of their parts. Inside The Boys is not at all overly political. It is exactly the right amount of political given the show it is about is a political show wrapped in a superhero cape. Inside The Boys is a great little gift to give fans of The Boys that much extracontent to fill the hole short seasons leave in our souls. Aisha Tyler is perfect. She is fun and charsmatic and well-spoken, and really seems to get the point.

They randomly add politics
skaterryan127 September 2020
This is a horrible knock off of the Talking Dead. Nothing feels natural at all. The whole things feels staged as if they're all being fed scripts by the marketing team and Vought themselves. To top it off they keep randomly adding in political statements out of no where. If I'm watching a show full of violence and vulgar language then what makes you think I want to watch an after show trying to shove politics down my throat. Shut up and talk about the Boys and make it feel like a legit interview. Take notes from Hardwick.

Perfect antidote to bland, meaningless entertainment.
anthealychan14 October 2020
I love The Boys but I don't always love after show shows. I do love this one though; it is the perfect blend of outrageous humour, great interviews and... I love the host. She's so politically outspoken and this sparks some really meaningful dialogue with the show creators and cast. There's plenty of entertainment out there for you if you want to pretend you live in a political vacuum. This isn't that.

Dumb, Useless, Unnecessary
anthony-monaco9 September 2020
I tend to enjoy behind the scenes series but this one is just beyond stupid. Apparently The Boys claim to fame is they swear a lot? Cringe-worthy voice over of u important scenes with ridiculous words instead of swears? This is not funny. Its really sad. I hope Aisha Taylor got paid a lot of money for this but even she can't quite convincingly deliver the awful dialog they gave her.

Awful host, unnecessary woke politics everywhere
Flamerinus22 August 2022
Watched a little bit and had to stop because it was like watching CNN.

Random Trump derangement syndrome, woke BS and political issues that have no relevance if you want to see a podcast like thing with the actors commenting on their experience on the show and their character.

Some of the interventions are good and it's nice to see the actors out of character and being normal human beings, but the wokeness is unbearable and the host is cringe AF.

Why is it so hard to just nerd out over a show and the original material, talk about what inspiration the actors had in playing their superhero, without destroying it all with the constant need to shove your political views down everybody's throat and call them bigots or misogynists if they dare not agree 100% with you?

Lame, this like a constant nowadays. 😒

Pathetic Show
brunneng-3034318 September 2020
Why can't we leave social justice and politics out of entertainment?? I watched this show hoping to hear fun stories and trivia and the host kept constantly injecting cringey nonsense into her questions. Aisha needs to go back to doing standup.

Honest insight. A raw and glorious intake to the stories and characters. The people rating this aftershow low stars are just lacking that funny bone needed to appreciate this greatness. Ms. Tyler, you do you

Social Justice Commentary

I want to hear the actors talk about the show. Why are we hearing political and social justice opinions?

Fun little talk show
nathanche-2004821 July 2023
Fun short show that lets fans get to know a little bit more about the actors, how they felt about each episode and their characters, and some insights behind the scenes. The occasional short bits they did with characters were entertaining and Aisha Taylor did great hosting it.

Yeah, it got political sometimes as the writers/actors/host got to express some of their views, but I did not have a problem with that; as the this is a satirical show that pokes fun at society after all. So, obviously there is gonna some questions regarding the contentious themes the show tackles, and the discussions can get deep. I guess that's surprising and corny for some people. Yes, I love the show for it's vulgarity and story telling, but what's wrong with the team who worked on the show expressing their ideals or views, especially if it some impact on the writing of the show.

I wouldn't write this much for a review for such a small show, but IMDB has a minimum requirement. Overall, fun little talk show and wished they continued it...

david-clay-freeman29 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Could not get 5 minutes into this disaster of a rewind show before the writer guy starters interjecting himself into politics. STFU and let me enjoy meeting the cast. I don't give a happy damn how you feel about the POTUS. Ruin everything with this constant social justice/Trump hate. Shut up!! My last episode of this crap and if season 2 of The Boys starts with the same I'm canceling my Prime.

Mostly boring. Not interested in their political views..
kay-toto9 October 2020
They used one episode to go longer than needed about their own politics instead of talking about this show. Any more, and I will not waste my time. I love "The Boys."

How could they get this so wrong?
silentbobni12 October 2020
The boys is probably the best show on TV at the moment so how could this be so awful? Just having people talk about the episode would have worked fine rather than have them babble nonsense for three quarters of it. And even more it would be bad if they totally ignored Garth Ennis for supplying the source material but no they have continual digs at it like its the ugly adopted child of the family and give no credit to it.

Feels staged with random politics thrown in.
mluinstra19 July 2022
To watch the actors talk about a show I have already watched, I would want new information. I'd like to hear about stuff that happened on the set during shooting certain scenes. There is very little of that here.

Mostly we get the host asking dumb questions like "What do you think your character's biggest regret is this season?" Who gives a crap? Another dumb question is asking each actor if they would rather die from lasers in the eye or ass-fixiation? Stupid crap like that is wasting our time.

Worst of all is the random politics thrown into the conversation like white people rule and women need equal lead acting jobs, etc. It happens so often that this entire show has to be scripted because nobody talks like that.

This fake talk show is a waste of time, unless you want to be preached at or learn what Hughie would do at a restaurant if they forgot to give him a fork.

Works very hard to take all the fun out of one of the most fun shows on television. Sadly it succeeds.

Disregarding content, the hosting is an issue.
morganking-9079622 December 2020
Political content aside, there's a clear awkward tone throughout the series. Mostly created by the host, her words seem forced and there's a very "ET News" vibe. Many of the actors try to keep a a flow, however the social distancing clearly plays a role as well. Overall, stick to "The Boys", the few funny moments are not worth the insincerity throughout.

Nothing to see here. Stick to the series. This commentary sucks. I need to put more words here so I will just keep typing but you should just steer clear of this awful nonsense.

Hypocrisy In Its Finest Light
electricshaka10 October 2020
I watch an episode of The Boys and I'm entertained. Wanting more, I end up regretfully watching Aisha Tyler, the actors of the series, and the especially horrible writers (ahem Eric Kripke) just spew their BS politics. From everything from BLM to gun rights I've watched these fools denounce the American Flag they've chosen as the cape for their hero, and it doesn't take a genius to realize they are making a mockery of Americans, and making a killing doing it, no pun intended. Get this garbage and your political views off my TV. Oh, and I'm going to enjoy watching Democrats like Homelander in the season finale this November. Let's have us a 2020 vote.
