Rosario is Perfect.

Warning: Spoilers
The only question is, how many hours did she spend watching her animated counterpart with Dave Filoni, to get the small gestures, the little swagger to the sway as Ahsoka walks, the toss n catch to change left handed grip, the look to the side with that grin. Ms Dawson, you are legend.

For the true star wars fan who has watched the animated series, and read the star wars books written in the 90s, this episode if packed full of easter eggs, and the possibilities for the future of the mandalorian is extraordinary. For the average fan to the ones who have only seen the mandalorian this episode is packed full of spectacular visuals and story foundation to lift the mandalorian to new heights and dramatic plotlines to be unfolded for all fans to enjoy and revel in excitement for all.

From a casual fan, absolute awesome episode.
Adawgm28 November 2020
Going into this, I've seen one episode of clone wars and I'm not even sure which episode that was. As a casual star wars fan, this was perfect television. I hated The Last Jedi not because of what they did to the characters, only because the plot made no sense and it just existed to subvert your expectations without serving the story.

This, on the other hand, had a perfect story. Felt Kurosawa-inspired to me. Action was great, characters in every scene have an obvious motivation. No twists or unpredictable moments to throw off the audience, yet the surprises serve the plot perfectly.

Everything to like here. Might start watching clone wars after all.

Less than I expected

Warning: Spoilers
The problem with The Mandalorian is the lack of connection between the main characters like Moff Gideon or now Ahsoka Tano. Her episode feels just like a fan pleaser, a very good one indeed. But I expected her to be more important. Many characters just appear for one episode and then disapear again without something memorable. This episode was like: I don't want to train the child but I will, if you help me with my own not very interesting mission. But in the end she's like: No I can't train him. You have to go anywhere else and then they seperate again. That is not what a good story should be. Every episode somehow stand for itself without any good connection. I expected this one to be more emotionally satisfying and to have a greater story. Don't understand me wrong, this episode was good, but with Ahsoka there were much more and much better things possible than what we got. GOT for exapmle proofed that it is possible to have countless characters and still a great storyline throughout the seasons. This is what is still missing in The Mandalorian and the show will be even better than already if they are able to fix this problem.

Mediocre
moritzor29 November 2020
Yea it was cool and emotional to see Ahsoka Tano again in this episode, but I really do not feel like this episode was a great one, and not even a good one. (In fact I came here expecting lots of bad reviews, and I was surprised there were so many 10/10 reviews, I'd say that those reviews cannot be objective at all, but okay I leave this to the fan boys and girls).

While visuals and sound were great as always (I really liked the "post apocalyptic atmosphere), there was absolutely no tension. The whole showplace with its inhabitants seemed artificial, the motion sequences (especially of Ahsoka) looked kinda clunky and staged, Mando has his cool moments as always, the action was predictable, there was nothing special about the dialogoues and, uhm, in the end you have the impression it was just another sidequest planet that leads to another sidequest planet and so on. No real story progression again. I can live with this filler epsiode, but for me it was an underwhelming experience. Not bad, not good, nothing special about it, except the little revealations and Ahsokas apperance (that felt kinda meaningless in the end, sigh). Overall I cannot give it more than a 5 out of 10.

Star Wars past, and present are finally all connecting
CheeseBoyyyy2727 November 2020
This is one of if not the best episode of the season (so far). Not only is this episode fast paced and satisfying we finally have answers towards some very highly asked and anticipated questions in regards towards the child and the multiple tie ins with Rebels, The Clone wars as well as the prequels. Get ready for your minds to be blown!

Filoni lays the foundation for a masterpiece

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was such a payoff to loyal fans of The Clone Wars and Rebels.

**Spoilers Below**

Not only do we get the return of our beloved heroine Ahsoka Tano, who by the way kills stealthily like a force-wielding Batman, but we get the world building and character reveals to set Disney up for many successful shows in this Universe.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is arguably the most brilliant strategist and compelling antagonist in the Star Wars universe, and the fact we might be seeing him soon is beyond enticing.

Wondrous
XweAponX2 December 2020
All of these episodes contain pieces of the puzzle, this one just contains a lot more.

I suppose we have anticipated this ever since the title of chapter was revealed.

So I can't really say anything about this. Other than the music is a lot different in this chapter. And it is totally appropriate.

One trivia piece compares this episode to the movie "tombstone", and that is pretty much what this is: a gunfight at the OK corral.

There could also be similarities to the fight between Oren Ishi-ii and Beatrice Kiddo, from Kill Bill part one.

The music reflects this, while at the same time accenting Rosario Dawson's character.

This chapter was a refreshing and welcome respite. LOTS of questions answered, still more poised.

Fun, but...
DannX6827 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review of a Mandalorian episode. It was a fun episode, better than some, worse than others. As I never got into any of the animated SW shows I have no connection whatsoever to Ahsoka Tano (although I did watch the Clone Wars movie), so I could take or leave her being in this show. It was fine, she was fine, but the plot did nothing to progress the story. At the end of the story we're at status quo, with Mando looking for someone to train Grogu (yes, we got a name for Baby Yoda). It felt like filler just to get Ahsoka in the show for pure fan service and nothing more.

That was it?

Warning: Spoilers
I may be one of the few who didn't enjoy this episode, but I will give you positives first. I liked seeing Ahsoka again. I liked that Dave Filoni got to direct this episode. I did not like how this episode, the one we were waiting to see since the summer, followed the same formula as the others, except it had Ahsoka so it was slightly better. Every episode has the Mandalorian meet someone who will help him if he completes a side quest for them. Then they can't really help him, so they send Mando to another planet. We were told by Bo Katan that the Mandalorian needed to bring the Child to Ahsoka. But she doesn't want to train him, which I guess it's ironic-now a member of Yoda's species is told that they can't be trained after Yoda said the same thing to and about Anakin and Luke. She agrees to, however, if Mando helps her (again, the formula). When he does, she tells him, sorry, not gonna help you. But, you guessed it, go to this next planet and maybe someone will help you. And the episode itself felt just very lackluster, compared to the buildup. It's a different actress for Ahsoka, so I'm still bothered by that, since Ashley Eckstein had the role for 12 years. We start with Ahsoka revealed within the first few minutes-face reveal and character reveal. She's on a planet fighting faceless bad guys and we don't know why she's there or what she's doing, and this is only kind of answered by the end. They don't give us much in the episode, but they think that through a couple name drops, that they can keep us watching for the next episode that will ultimately follow the same formula. This new Ahsoka did not help them except by telling them to go to a new planet and it gave us Baby Yoda's name. They gave us a "lightsaber" fight between the new Ahsoka and this other woman who was using a Beskar spear, which isn't technically a lightsaber fight. Really, that scene and when Mando met Ahsoka were the only things of note in this episode. Really nothing huge, they just baited the next episode and hoped that that would make this episode good

Dave Filoni - Heir to the throne
jakewebber-6844428 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
From the first scene until the last my jaw was hanging down to the floor. Dave Filoni worked for years with George Lucas and it really shows here. This episode is a perfect blend of old school samurai and western films - from the choreography to the themes and the story line.

Ahsoka Tano is a character that wasn't always loved by the Star Wars fandom but eventually she grew into her own and became one of the most popular characters of all time not just animated but in general. This episode depicting her in live action form is no exception. No matter if you've watched her since 2008 or if you've just been watching Mandalorian since it's debut last season this character of the Jedi is one that anyone can be invested in. There is no prior knowledge needed to become interested but if the viewer has been following from the beginning this episode is an epic conclusion (for now) to one of the most beloved characters of all time.

Dave Filoni has really grown into his own with his live action direction since his debut of Mandalorian season 1. His animation career is nothing short of outstanding but episode 5 of the last season which he helmed was definitely regarded as the least favorite entry of the series, however that is not the case with his immaculate direction this episode. With a final dual that closely resembles Kurosawa's Throne of Blood, the tightly nit storytelling for this episode really feels as though the filmmaker has taken the criticism from his last venture and worked hard to improve.

Rosario Dawson has always resembled the facial structure of Ahsoka but her acting and choreography gives the character an emotional and physical gravitas unlike any Star Wars character. The references to Anakin, Yoda, and Order 66 really tie the entire universe together and made myself personally filled with glee. Backstory given to the child (now known as Grogu) and the name drop of another of the most riveting Star Wars character (GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN) is enough to make any Star Wars fan wet the bed.

This show continues to excite the fandom and expand the universe. Personally I can't wait to see what else Filoni and Favreau have cooked up in the kitchen. To the two masters, I say thank you.

.. and now we wonder ..

Where is Ezra Bridger?

It just doesn't get much better than this! It has all of the elements that make star wars a great story from any angle, if in the right hands. This episode was chills all the way through!
