I do like how Anthony Horowitz is playing around with the crime genre, even poking fun at it. It was all part of his original novel.
There are references to Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie stories. Atticus Pünd's own investigations very much reflects it. As he delves into the personal lives and motives regarding the murder of local landowner Sir Magnus Pye.
Atticus Pünd tells Susan Ryeland to look at events in order when it comes to the death of Alan Conway. Maybe that will lead to the missing manuscript
Later another person emerges who tells Susan that Alan Conway had stole his ideas for his latest book.
Meanwhile Susan is also under pressure to accept the CEO role at the publisher. While her boyfriend wants them both to move away to Crete and start a new life to run a hotel.
So far the series has been enjoyable, well acted by Lesley Manville. To me it is fun but lacks the flair of something like modern day Sherlock series, that also played around the Holmes stories and the crime genre. It needs to go up a gear or two.
