DAMN!
mattrabbi24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Most explicit episode of the entire show? Yeah, I think so. Best episode of the entire show? Yeah, I also think so. But those two things aren't correlated. It's the best episode of the show so far not because of the nudity and explicit moments, but because of how amazing, action packed, and emotional this episode was.

HERE'S THE THING: Sure there's lots of action here, but this episode (and the action) would not be nearly as good without knowing this show well and having gone through the arcs and storylines we have for the past 2 and a half seasons. That's a huge part of what makes this show so good. And that's something all these recent one-off 6 episode mini-series from Disney+ can't say for themselves, which is why they often end up falling flat and leave a bad taste in your mouth by the time they're over, while ongoing shows like The Boys and others are so enjoyable.

This was an hour of television that was incredibly enjoyable the whole way through. Well done, 10/10.

Not the shocks I was expecting.
rebsothoth24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
With a title like "Herogasm", there are certain shocks you can reasonably expect. No spoilers here, but there's nudity and sex. To be fair, if you cut out the "supe" stuff, I've seen more weird boinking at actual sex dungeons in Seattle. If you've seen any edgy modern shows that feature orgies, this really isn't that different.

Since this is "The Boys", you can also reasonably expect a lot of over-the-top gore. Some of the gore hit "closer to home" than others, because there was a level of realism to it that struck me on a visceral level, pun intended. That said, this episode provided some of the best choreographed fight scenes I've ever seen. Normally, I tune out any sequences without dialogue, but this was like watching a dance of violence. The teamwork was seamless.

However, I was NOT expecting so much character development between all that sex and violence. If you focus on those scenes alone, this is the most poignant episode of the series. It shows what happens when someone asks forgiveness but isn't able to turn the other cheek. It shows what it means to let go of the past to help others. It shows how much harm can be done by those who aren't aware of their power and are thus powerless to control it. It shows that appearances are more important than values to people with power. It shows an unexpected character finally realizing that the system is corrupt and can't be fixed from within. It shows that everyone is broken. That's something inherently relatable, and it's a thread that runs through the entire series.

Yes, "The Boys" makes political commentary. I feel that it's an unbiased look at power; there are no good guys, just different ways to leverage strength. Everyone is a potential bad guy if they can't see the humanity of "the other side". In the end, everyone just wants the world to make sense, for it to be something they have they ability to control in a way that makes them feel safe. It's part of being human, whether you have superpowers or not.

Who would have thought an episode called "Herogasm" would have such a deep philosophical core? Oh, don't forget to buy The Deep's new book. Gill-men need love, too.

Don't focus on the name.

Warning: Spoilers
My favourite episode so far. Herogasm is just a name, a clickbait, yes there is a lot of sex and nudity but no the main point of the plot.

SPOILERS FROM NOW

Seeing Homelander go against Soldier Boy, Butcher and Hughie at the same time was amazing and the acting Anthony Starr delivers when he is talking to the mirror is just amazing.

I am really afraid to see where all of this is going but it can't be good, the last 2 episodes are going to be a total madness.

"Not Suitable for Any Audience"
MamadNobari9724 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
But you will get the gasm while watching this episode.

This is undoubtedly the best episode of this show. Absolutely crazy.

This one has everything, from mocking all of Hollywood again, to every character doing the craziest sht, and getting some dope supe vs supe action.

The first scene of this episode is probably my favorite parody they've done about Hollywood and those cringe celebrities. It's even better than that Bepsi parody.

First of all, I'm really liking Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and this is the first time I'm seeing him in anything. Bravo to the casting director who selected him. His character is complex and he portrays him really well.

A lot, and I mean a lot of things happen in this episode to each and every character, and they are all put into the most intense situations.

Homelander starts to panic when he sees that Soldier Boy is back. He talks to himself and is trying to get rid of his cancer, which is human emotions.

All MM is thinking is killing Soldier Boy and that's clouding his judgment. His and Annie's relationship with Billy and Hughie not only gets better, but it gets a hundred times worse, so it's interesting to see where it'll end up. Vicky also talks to Starlight and threatens her and we're definitely gonna see them fight in the future.

Frenchie, Kimiko, and Cherie are getting tortured as always, and they have a touching scene at the end.

Ashley gets the courage to act more like a CEO and stick it to A-Train, but she's becoming more like Homelander. And A-Train still has beef with Blue Hawk and kills him in a gruesome scene and he passes out too, but it's obvious he's not going to die. He also says sorry to Hughie for what he did to Robin, and his apology actually seems genuine, followed by a punch to his face.

I gotta say, I really hate A-Train after what he did to Alex, but I would really like it if he actually died here, his arc in this season was weird at first, but this is a really good ending for his character and he doesn't really have anything else left, so it would kinda suck if they brought him back, especially after 2 seasons of teasing his heart condition, so I hope his dead dead.

We have the whole orgy scene and they really do my man MM dirty in those scenes. If you know you know.

Oh, and Deep is screwing an octopus.

And these are just the minor ones. Probably the best fight scene of the whole series happens here between Homelander, Soldier Boy, and later Hughie.

And thank god these showrunners and directors know what they're doing, and they know that they should keep the fight between superheroes grounded, literally, and not do Man of Steel and Shazam air fight. Look up "The One Word Ruining Superhero Fight Scenes" on YT to see what I mean.

The fight between these 4 is amazing. Homelander now knows that Billy Butcher and Hughie are an actual problem and barely misses his demise. Black Noire is gone and we have to see if he's a friend of Soldier Boy or if he's gonna join Homelander and help him. My guess? He went to rescue Maeve from wherever he put her and they will also go against Homelander.

The Massacre at Herogasm House and the murder of Blue Hawk were one of the most well-done shocking scenes of the show

Annie telling the world the truth and the #VoughtLiedPeopleDied is gonna change everything and Homelander is probably gonna go full crazy and not care about anything anymore. I'm interested to see what the ramifications of this revelation to the world are, because there are bound to be riots, demonstrations, the government and other countries reacting and trying to control the situation, and the "good" superheroes are probably gonna band together against Homelander and Vought? They probably will not show all of this and I don't expect them to go full World War 3 with this, but it's interesting to see what's gonna happens as a result of this revelation about superheroes.

All of the characters and plot lines aside, I think this episode had a really good direction, great writing (even though I feel like some of the dialogue could've been better and some dialogue needed more lines to feel more natural), amazing production value and special effects and CGI, they really went all in with the budget and I'm glad they did. The Boys is just the best thing Amazon has and they better give them all the budget they need. The stingy big mouse should learn a thing or two from them, but I guess they get all the views and money doing the bare minimum, so no wonder they don't care about their shows.

Just about everything about this episode is top-notch and the best of the best, the direction, the writing, the acting from all of the cast, the cinematography, the music, the actions and special effect, and let's not forget the best mock and parody this show has done and taking on a dump on everyone involved in that cringefest of a video "Imagine".

This feels like a finale, but there are surprisingly two more episodes for this season, so we'll see if they can top this or not.

The Boys is better than all the MCU shows...combined
themosesgun24 June 2022
With a smaller budget, this show manages to reign you in with quality storytelling. Herogasm was the ultimate Boys episode, with every hedonistic detail we've all grown to love. As long as they stick the landing in the final episode, this should easily be remembered as the best Superhero show of all time .

I was not expecting THIS from herogasm
zachcreaghcoen24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Amazing fights, absolutely sublime character work. I was expecting just a sex based episode but this show excels at everything else. It actually feels like they tried to build hype for the Sadistic sex to take focus away from the main story. When in reality they gave us one of the best episodes of television I have ever seen. MM getting over his addiction with Soldier Boy, kamico and Frenchie trying to reconcile with their nature. Hughie finally breaking being unable to deal with being the less powerful in the relationship. A-train realising that he at fault for all the awful things he's done. Homelander finally snapping completely and losing his last shred of humanity. And the best has to go to Annie January(formally starlight) for finally taking a stand and essentially forfeiting her life to do the right thing. The fight in this episode actually had me convulsing. Billy lasering homelander. AMAZING. The writers of this show should be so proud of them selves. It's just simply a masterpiece also the comedy in this episode was top tier. MM getting absolutely SOAKED in cum, was frankly one of the funniest things I have ever seen. And Soldier boy talking about how Bill Cosby was a real man AND THE IMAGINE SONG COVER AMAZING.

Hell of a ride.

Warning: Spoilers
Damn, that was the best episode in this show so far by a LOT. Incredible and mind-blowingly engaging from start to finish. Spoilers below.

Finally seeing the human side of homelander come out impeccably accomplishes its task making us feel empathy for what is perhaps the evilest man in the world. The character development for Hughie, Annie, and especially MM was jawbreaking and very impressively well-crafted. Even freaking A-Train had me feeling compassion for him.

This episode simply hits it out of the park. It is one of the best things I've seen in television, period. I'd give it an 11/10 if I could.

Fight me!
highlander_3152724 June 2022
Anthony Starr deserves an award for his monologue arguing with himself.

TNT being an even cringier version of Wonder Twins is great.

Soldier Boy out of time as a much more angry and disgusted Captain America with nuke ability is hilarious.

I fully expected Victoria and Starlight to fling that nasty La Croix trash.

Love Sausage is the man.

Frenchie is far more perverted than is given credit for.

I wondered at the ability of film to accurately transcribe the comic arc.

Although a bit different, I am not disappointed.

Best episode of the show
yassinebakrim24 June 2022
Intensity, suspense, reversal of situations, character development and epic fights. Everything to make a perfect episode was here with the spirit of the show. Very well done by the directors. The episode really took me by surprise and I must certainly not be the only one.

If you thought The Boys reached its peak already, HEROGASM proves that greatness is just the beginning.

A series like this will never stop to amaze us without fear.

One of the best or the best episode so far!

Probably the best hour of TV in my life
bobby-7835824 June 2022
For me, this show has been two things: extremely explicit contents, and beautifully done moral conflicts of both men and superheroes. And interestingly, these two things have almost no correlation. They are great in their own ways, especially in Season 3 where everything has been built up to a point where things are just happening-there is no more build-up. Pretty much every single character is being pushed to the edge and falling apart, and it is just fantastic to watch.

Solid, Not Epic
Sarah42324 June 2022
I watched the first three episodes and bailed for a while, waiting to catch up when we were hyped on the "MAJOR EVENT" of Herogasm.

It came with a whimper not a roar.

True, the episode was better than the first half of the season's work. The characters are now fully invested in their stories which helped sell them to me. The money poured into cinematography and f/x is apparent.

But once again, I feel like a victim in reverse of the hype.

Kripke and the cast focused on Herogasm as a sales point, interview after interview, social media post after post. But the orgy part of the episode was rather "meh."

The show has gone from cutting edge, pushing the envelope in season one to ~this~ as their tour de force?

Honestly, it was like them taking Jensen Ackles on the world wide press tour of the season opening, then not really using him much first half.

The hype should at least in some way match what the show is going to give us or else it's a bait and switch.

And that leaves viewers like me with a distinctly sour feeling after watching what basically was a solid episode of The Boys.

Disappointingasm
Sandoz3 July 2022
There was a lot of pre-release hype for this episode about how outrageous and shocking it was going to be...

I really, REALLY have to remember to tell myself to NEVER believe hype.

Anyone who has read the comic knows that authentic outrageousness and shock value is how Herogasm was portrayed in the comics. What we got in the TV episode was basically a supe version of the orgy scene in Eyes Wide Shut with just a bit more nudity. I'm aware that subscription-cable shows still cannot go full-on porno and need to rein things in somewhat...but if anyone actually feels this scene was pushing any boundaries in terms of debauchery and decadance, all I can say is get the comic issue of this and check it out: your mind--and maybe some other things, too--will definitely be blown.

Still love the show, but this episode was a let-down.

Norman Osborne vibes from Homelander
jagrutgosai24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The title doesn't do justice much, since it's just 15 minutes or less of herogasm in here but it pushes the plot forward in a way it never did before. We get to see homelander get beaten up for the first time, poor him. Also, Norman Osborne vibes from the talking to the mirror scene. Anthony deserves an Emmy for sure.

Outstanding television
stphnstrang24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes of any TV show I have seen, period. The setup for Herogasm was a bit of a red herring; sure, some crazy sex stuff happens. But the real story is everything else. The best combat sequence in the entire show, completely bad ass, every second of it. Homelander showing weakness for the first time, both mentally AND physically. Ackles is killing it as Soldier Boy, which I think we all expected. His character is nuanced and terrifying, but has strangely likeable qualities. A-Train giving Blue Hawk death by friction was insane. And loved that Starlight finally had enough and decided to give everyone the finger.

Next episode please!

What an episode!!
brandonmckay824 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Have to admit the hype around this episode & the (hilarious) warning at the start I expected this episode to be enjoyable but overall a stupid one but this is easily my favourite of the season! Annie & Victoria, Homelander, Noir, Deep & Ashley conversations are great, even Homelanders convo with mirror Homelander was amazing. The fight scenes are so epic, Kimiko's fighting was amazing, very intense... A-Train getting some revenge but maybe at a cost was awesome & the whole Soldier Boy, Butcher & Hughie vs Homelander was so good to watch! The friendship between Annie & MM is really growing on me! One of the best episodes of the series, best one of the season & I can't wait for next weeks & see how Ashley & Homelander react.

I am speechless...
robotintroverted24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think I've been so emotionally exhausted from an episode of The Boys; this whole episode was a 1-hour tension fest. Where I couldn't breathe at points, or had my mouth wide open from what I was seeing. They definitely delivered on the comic side of Herogasm, but man did they deliver on the story. For the first half, it kind of eases you into the madness that unfolds in the second half. There's a lot of great humour, and typical The Boys stuff. But then the second half comes along, and it feels like you've been run over by a train. Not a second was wasted in this episode, especially with that fight between Homelander and The Boys, that was honestly so intense. Since you don't really know if Butcher is strong enough, and the whole fight made me so still.

The ending to this episode is probably the biggest jaw dropper of the episode; Starlight exposes every hero (even Homlander and Soldier Boy) for being extremely corrupt and awful people. And I honestly have no clue for what's in store for the final two episodes; the second half of this season has been nearly impossible to predict where it might go for me. This is probably my favourite episode of The Boys, and the episode just shows it.

I am so emotionally drained from this episode, and I don't even want to know what happens next week, and because I'm not ready for the emotion, surprises, and death that behold next week's episode. The acting in this show is brilliant as always, and I love seeing even more of the actions and consequences for every character in this show. This season is just proving to me that superhero media isn't dead, and that there are still more innovative and creative ways to tell these stories. This season has got to be one of the best seasons of superhero TV I've ever had the pleasure of viewing!

9.5/10!

Cheap Knock off... no, no, no im the upgrade!
ha77y73ad9727 June 2022
With being a reader of the comics this is has to be one of the only adaptations that beat the source material. This series has been crazy. I always think that the Lord of the Rings Triology is the only films better than the material and this because one of these esteemed projects!

This wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to go on the nudity for this episode as the comics are crazy graphic. This wasnt as bad as the 1st episode in that respect or even compared to one of the episodes in season 1. I was so surprised with the violence and graphic details that came from this is episode. Its a violent show and im expecting a lot but i had to take 5 after a certain scene just to readjust.

This is not to say that this episode was epic, the fight scenes taking the story forward with all of the characters at each others throats and there doesnt seem to be a way for them to reunite after what happened through out this episode. The lust for power from Butcher and Hughie is so damaging to the characters we love and i dont want to see them slip further from their original morals (character development that has been nailed!) Im scared for them after this episode.

Overall this is the greatest series of this show hands down. I hope this doesnt just fade by the seasons finale, this is a show for people who loved the MCU in the first but after so many sub par shows and movies this can only grow.

I think all the compliments are from teenagers
suvechhabose27 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Who aren't educated enough to look at other aspects of action shows , like pacing. I thought the episode lacked a proper action sequence & soldier boys character history.

Who the ef edited that soldier boy vs homelander hand to hand fight? Why WASN'T IT SHOWN COMPLETELY? I remember they showed us powerpuff girls vs Stromfront , Why homelander ran like that? I thought the whole episode is going to focus specifically on action (karl urban had a vs with homelander but it finished within split seconds) . Half of the episode is filled with nudity & the other half is with Starlight & hughie discussing ,Frenchie treating kimiko , kringy cgi forced humour.

& Mind you the boys mock every other superhero franchise ; that s why it feels funny. But this episode mocked the show 'the boys'. So its not funny , didn't felt like very original.

No depth, No new stuff, Just cgi marvel bullocks with Adult humour!

Leaves a bad aftertaste.

Get on with the story , i am not interested in fillers. Weakest episode cause nothing happened, like literally nothing. Everything happened just what a normal viewer would predict. Five minutes homelanders self pep talk, 20 minutes of party , hughie & Ani's continuous talks , another small/stupid fight sequence End.

(Noir , Edgar wright , Nina , homelander son, Maeve ,Grace Mallory everybody's kept aside ~ but lets focus on love sausage Obviously ofc cause people didn't expect that thing from a show like this. ?) So original, so funny! So yes Stalling won't work.

MovieFan221524 June 2022
The hype for this episode has been massive and that was it?!?! Underwhelming to say the lease. They ruined Hughies character. Mothers Milk is dumb for trying to kill Soldier Boy with a gun. And that last moment should've been HUGE and it had zero impact. Liked the fight, could do without everything else.
