Have you heard the patriot speech before? Or told it yourself?
gand717 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I did not enjoy this movie. I don't think this is a movie made to be enjoyed. What did make me happy was knowing just how uncomfortable a "patriotic" American would be to hear the same garbage he or she states come from the mouth of an all-too possible xenophobic lunatic spouting the same rhetoric and self-interest as any average American might do. It's a likely premise that makes you quite uncomfortable. I would really love to watch an anti-immigration supporter watch this film and not stir in their seat. This is because this is quite simply a brutal scenario that could (or maybe already has) occurred. The movie tries to put into perspective the plight of illegal immigrants.

It's a difficult thing to do, I guess, but when you're subjected to a Mexican farmer's wife being torn apart and his little girl shredded on barbed wire for nothing more than the fact that they are "illegal parasites" who are poor and desperate, it makes you wonder how you can think such terrible things about people. What would I do to save my family if I lived in a country overrun by cartels and warlords? A country where I couldn't make enough money to feed my family no matter how hard or long I worked? What would you do? I think we all already know the answer. The answer is you'd run to the first place you could find that would be safer for you and your family. You'd work any miserable, rubbish job just to never return to that place and to watch your child grow up safe and happy. As much as it may be a "torture porn" movie (which I dislike above all other types of horror film as my other reviews will show) it still made me think in the end. I think that's what this movie is trying to do. I commend it for that.

piggybacking on political issue
SnoopyStyle10 July 2017
Travis (Scott Mechlowicz), Liz (Alona Tal), Davie (Greg Serano), and Jim (Kevin Weisman) are making a documentary about the abuses suffered by undocumented immigrants. They join Davie's cousin Alberto (Yancey Arias) and his family crossing the border when they are intercepted by a private militia. They are enlisted to film the horrors that follow.

This is a low-budget horror piggybacking on some immediate modern political issues. It's illegal immigration with a healthy dose of Abu Ghraib. The main characters don't get enough time to present themselves. It may work better to have only two filmmakers which would allow them more screen time to fill in their roles. The most annoying is the usual hand-held shaky camera work with some in night vision. There's too much of it and it's not necessary. I get it. They're an indie doc film crew. The premise has some promise but it needs some better imagination to spice it up. It needs to have some fun with this horror setup.

Well done - low budget movie!
bayareamike5 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is a movie which could happen. Almost to the point, it could be a true story. Whether it is or not, I am not sure. It starts out as a group of students heading South with cameras to document what it is like for a group of Mexican citizens to cross the border from Mexico to the US illegally and the students and their cameras come along for the ride, filming as they go. It starts in Mexico where they all meet up and head for the border. They use a 'drug tunnel' as their method of crossing the International border. Upon entering the US, they meet up with a U-Haul type truck near the highway where they are to be taken to a safe house. They gather in the back of the truck, and before they leave, the people in the back of the truck hear some talk, then 3 gunshots. Not knowing what happened, the truck begins to move. They end up in a compound run by masked American "patriots" who's goal is to punish the illegals for entering the US, and taking advantage of 'the system'. They all end up in some type of compound where they are questioned and tortured. During the process, some of them die at the hands of these masked 'patriots'. It seems these 'patriots' think they are protecting the US, and thus give them an excuse to torture these Mexicans and treat them like they are less than human, and torture them for crossing the border and taking advantage of the system. The American students are forced to document the torture using their cameras so the tapes will end up back in Mexico to be played in the media so other Mexicans who have a desire to enter the US illegally will reconsider their plan. There is quite a lot of torture scenes, and the captured Mexicans are treated like animals. Some of the scenes are difficult to watch, and depending on your political views, may consider some of the treatment of these prisoners justified, It is difficult to watch no matter your political views. Despite the torture scenes, it has the feel of a movie that has a higher budget than was allocated. It is well done, and the actors are well played. The movie focuses on a real problem the US faces, and shows the uglier side of this 'problem'. Despite the violence and torture, the masked 'patriots' make a point that many Americans feel. The violence borders excessive and it seems like the illegal crossing is just a way to justify torture of people. However, since this movie plays like something that could actually happen, and does it well, I rate it an 7. It's not a movie for children, though it is a well done drama that makes a point of how extreme political views can be carried out.

'Undocumented' is torment redefined
boo_yall22 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
'Undocumented' follows a documentary crew who is attached to a group of Mexican immigrants who have paid enormous sums of money to a coyote (not the cat-snatching mongrel, rather a smuggler of people) to get into the United States. Illegally, in case you weren't getting the point. The irony is that legal entrance to the United States is cheaper and safer, if safety is part of the calculation - but that's politics, and a hard topic to rationally discuss in Texas, California, or Arizona.

Incredibly the creators of 'Undocumented' use blood and abject terror to drive the discourse in a way that TV's Border Wars simply cannot. And no matter what side you sit on the political spectrum, you will think about the subject matter.

The crew, the coyote, and the huddled and downtrodden Mexican subjects are high-jacked minutes after they cross the border. Since they are all in the back of a cargo truck, they all figure they're busted. What's unusual is that the Border Patrol doesn't normally take in the illegal aliens in the same transport carrying them. And they would probably not hear the coyote getting body-slammed and some stick-time just prior. They are all offloaded and corralled. The obviously American film crew are individually interrogated, blindfolded and bound, in an effectively disturbing series of cut shots.

They've been captured by an ultra-radical anti-(illegal)-immigration group: a more ruthless, sickeningly twisted, and better organized version of Arizona's Minutemen. There's really no dancing around that comparison. And they've got a message for the film crew they want to share.

The group's leader, "Z" says it best (though I gotta paraphrase it - I really didn't expect the movie to be quotable): "Whatever you think is going on here, this is worse." Straight talk, delivered in skull-cracking, blood-splashing, bone-splitting reality.

The synopsis on Time Warner described it as a "blood-soaked psychological thriller." And it is. I'll forgo much more plot description because it really needs to be seen to be understood. It's a fairly straightforward narrative, packed with tension and allegory. To tell you, dear reader much more is to spoil the uncomfortable fun.

The cast does exceptional and memorable work: Liz, the high-minded liberal producer (Alona Tal, of lots o' TV and voice-overs since 2003); her erstwhile boyfriend and the project's journo-opportunistic director, Travis (Scott Mechlowicz, of 'Eurotrip'); the Mexican émigré cousin, Alberto (the more-than-credible Yancey Arias) of one of the crew, Davie (Greg Serano, with a solid TV CV); and drug-using sound guy smart ass, Jim (Alias' Kevin Weisman).

Even the narratively expendable characters turn negligible "raw meat" roles into loss. The tragic chorus of ill-fated illegal aliens are authentic and utterly haunting, as if director Chris Peckover actually captured and tortured them. (He didn't. Right?)

The film treads the kind of suggested territory that franchise torture porn such as Hostel and Saw is awkwardly compelled to throw at the audience in explicit, anatomically-correct splatter. The argument that such franchises are simply satire is lost: 'Undocumented' is pure and sophisticated satire that teases the sensibilities of the viewer without abusing them into disaffection. You care. And stranger still, your perspective - your "side" - is apt to vacillate. It's a "hard" movie.

I could go on and on: I can't stop thinking about this film. I was on the edge of my seat early on, and gripped until the very end. It's a brilliant effort that touches nerves you may not even know you have. The closing shot and speech, the first reveal of the masked radicals, the enigmatic "Z" and the breadth of the cabal is unforgettable - cinema gold.

Oh, yeah, "Z" - played by an actor to whom most of the $1.4mm budget probably went, and well worth it - was the subject of a little game. We resisted looking him up until the end of the film. Neither I nor she won, but we both slapped our foreheads with a big old DUH.

'Border'line found footage exploitation.....
FlashCallahan5 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A small group of documentary filmmakers chronicle the trials and inequities faced by Mexican illegal immigrants.

When they join a group of families illegally crossing the border to record the experience firsthand, their truck is pulled over and detained.

What happens next plunges their group into unimaginable horror.......

So the basic premise is simple, Mexicans try and cross the border into USA, and some make it, some get sent back, and others get caught by Peter Stormare and his masked henchman.

And if you get caught by the latter, you spend the rest of the film either getting tortured, questioned, or put in a room that looks really comfortable.

It's a sound idea, but it would have been a lot more convincing if this was full on found footage horror, not half and half like it is here. The film tries to be topical, tries to send a message of everyone is equal no matter who they are etc., but alas, it turns into torture porn, and spoils its good intentions.

The cast are okay, but they spend the entire movie panicking, in pain, or giving their captors a little bit of attitude before they in turn, act nice before torturing them.

And that's literally the film, a good idea, but it plays it too safe and goes down the normal horror route.

I smells a rat I do
robhall_ie2 October 2011
I noted that this movie got a 7.1 and thought it sounded interesting. However after about 40 minutes or so I began to have my suspicions. In reality after watching it I now know that I was duped. The other reviewer who guessed the movie's production crew must have been the ones who voted is on the right path. At best this movie is a 'nothing else on not even a re-run of a movie I only kinda want to watch". It's not terrible but it's 100% predictable. There are no brain cells required to watch it. In fact my sore head hurts more now than it has suffered this movie. The characters are completely transparent, as are any twists (oh wait there aren't any at all) and the plot is rather obvious. The violence is needless and without any menace so doesn't serve the plot at all. I guess the central message gets through. If you want to fuel your hatred of rednecks then this movie is for you.

Sometimes It's Better Not To Do Good Things.
DarkSpotOn22 April 2023
If Martyrs and Altroz and The Farm somehow merged together and had a baby hybrid, this is the baby that would come out. The movie is actually pretty decent. It's not great, but it was a fun watch. I think there is a deep message in this movie, and that's that even if you want to do the right good thing, do something good, sometimes it's just better not to.

Even though some segments in this movie seem unrealistic, like the Pinata scene, which was really out of place, for the most part, the movie is a wild ride. I would go that far to classify this as somewhat of a Grindhouse flick like Hobo With A Shotgun. It just has that kind of energy.

I understood for the most part what was going on, however, I wish I watched this with subs, but there were none. (There were English subs only in the Mexican parts). I was expecting that the blonde chick would be executed first, how much she fought against the villains. But luckily her boyfriend and the Mexican father survived.

I think there was a scene where a pregnant woman was supposed to be worked on, but that scene never occurred. I was preparing for that to be very graphic but they never showcased it, which is probably for the better.

If you are into a slasher and crime films like Altroz, or Teriffier, I think this would rock your boat. Z is insane.

Brought to you by the guy from" Breast Picture"
artpf27 January 2012
OK, let's discuss the cinema verite.

All mexicans are good, family oriented, extraordinarily poor innocent people who only want to come to America the land of opportunity.

Of course, when you are on the wrong side of of the law, things tend to go haywire.

In a very obtuse way, this film reminded me of Midnight Express -- you know the film where libby liberal Hollywood wanted us to feel sorry for a guy who wants to brings back tens of pounds of pot to sell in the states, gets caught and is thrown in a Turkish prison.

From the get go there's no involvement in the main characters because they are breaking the law.

And to this point, if these Mexicans are so poor, how can they dig up thousands of dollars to be transported over the border? For next to nothing, they can buy a used car and drive over the border legally and just never go back.

It's ridiculous.

Ohm and then there's the fact they don't even look Mexican and dress way too nicely and have way too designer hairdoos to be remotely poor.

So in the first 10 minutes you just don't care about them and can't wait for the violence to ensue.

Parenthetically, one has to wonder why the "american" vigilantes all have Mexican accents. Jeeze this film is dumb.

One more thing -- when are you hack writers and directors going to stop putting in the signal less cellphone in the picture? It's been done in every movie like this. We get it.

It's dumb.

Let's be frank, this flick is nothing more than a pandering exploitation flick hoping to cash in on real problems the filmmakers are too dumb and vapid to understand.

It's a bore fest.

The hot chicks on vacation scenario is far more believable and entertaining. Go with that concept next time.

Takes the torture-porn genre into a very real arena, and you may hate it for that
bob_meg5 May 2013
As much as there is to criticize about "Undocumented," I have to admit it does a very audacious thing, at least for a horror picture made on the caliber and budget of cheapsploitation classics like "Baker County" and "I Spit on Your Grave": it forces you to actually turn the camera eye on yourself and your beliefs on illegal immigration, whatever they may be, and then confront the very real, but often unseen, after shocks of those beliefs.

Pretty boy and girl Scott Mechlowicz and Alona Tol head up a group of five scarily naive grad students who are doing their thesis on the plight of illegals and their often fatal journeys across the border by...get this: actually aiding them in their trek. If you can get past this admittedly foolhardy and absurd premise, the rest of the film is actually *easier* to swallow, and that's what makes it so much harder to watch and, by turns, to look away from.

On arriving on New Mexico soil, they are immediately ambushed by a gang of paramilitary "patriots" led by "Z" (an insanely chilling Peter Stormare who remains masked for virtually the entire film). What follows is nothing we haven't seen before in the "Hostel" films: ritual humiliation, torture, and full-on carnage, but...this time it's not for the lark of a few rich and twisted businessmen to get their rocks off. No, these sadists actually have a point to make and, for me at least, this really catapulted this snuff box of a movie into a very discomfiting and visceral space in my brain.

"Undocumented" isn't the first horror film to shove hatred into our line of sight and then force us to ingest it, but it does it in such a convincing stylized nightmare way to make it difficult to shake off. More than a few people I've talked to have had a rough time forgetting this film purely because much of Stormare's didactic prattling has inadvertently (or not) come from their own mouths at one time or another. It's disquieting in a way few horror films manage to achieve because, unlike high-handed circle jerks such as "Funny Games," you can see where the villain's bile originates.

In addition to Stormare's tour-de-sicko turn, Mechlowicz continues his run of quietly breakout performances: from "Mean Creek" to "Gone" to this film, he seems bent on forcing you to look past his air-brushed looks by turning in very convincing portraits of deeply-troubled, morally conflicted heroes and villains. The fact that he effectively 180's you from believing his character a pompous a-hole to someone you feel genuine pity for is pretty amazing in itself.

Look, this isn't Citizen Kane. It's not even Citizen Ruth...newcomer Chris Peckover doesn't have the chops of Alexander Payne or Orson Welles. Not yet, anyway. Still this isn't your big brother's crappy little torture flick from the turn of the millennium. No, this one is a bit too true to life for something you'll forget that easily. Even if you wish you could.

Relies too much on initial premise.
mkczup1 April 2012
The idea behind undocumented is truly terrifying. It would not surprise me to find that something similar to this goes on near the US border. However, as a film it is just a run-of-the-mill average torture-porn.

This film won't win any awards for creativity, writing, or acting. But for those who just want to watch a gory flick that appeals to your sense of empathy it does deliver. The gore is believable and there are plenty of gut-wrenching emotional scenes.

This isn't a thinking film. You won't come out of it scratching your head, ready to discuss its deeper implications. But it has more heart than your average slasher film.

Avid horror fans will not be impressed, but it's not a bad flick for the average film-going Joe.

A Visceral and All-Too-Believable Nightmare
PatrickTheRedMenace15 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Picked randomly from the Pay-Per-View menu, UNDOCUMENTED is my surprise find of the year. I hesitate to call it my pleasant surprise, because while the discovery of a true horror gem flying under the radar can really warm my cockles, once the action here gets rollin', I was feeling more cold chills than warm fuzzies.

A group of young filmmakers in the process of making a documentary about illegal immigration across the Mexican border are apprehended by what we (and they) think are the police. In the trailer, we are told by an off- screen tormentor, "Whatever you think this is…it's far worse." Unfortunately, for our young heroes…he's not lying."

What starts off as a fairly routine shot-on-video, found footage movie quickly turns into a visceral and all-too-believable nightmare of American patriotism run amok. Our heroes and the immigrants they were following have been captured by a group of extreme nationalists who are looking to save our country by cleansing of the scourge that's ruining it. In other words, undocumented Mexicans sneaking over the border.

What really drove this home for me was how possible every horrific image or idea you're subjected is. As a country, we seem to have lost our minds on this subject. The inhuman acts going on right now in Arizona are not that far off from what's happening at the abandoned slaughterhouse in the movie. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if something like is actually was going on…right now. Our villains here are not raving madmen. On the contrary, they are well spoken….charming, even…guys you'd probably love to have a beer with sometime in other circumstances. These men spill poison from their mouths, calmly. Rationally. Indeed, there might be a nugget of truth to it; a truth twisted into something hideous, but truth nonetheless. And part of me started to believe it. Just a little….teeny….tiny…bit.

Therein lies the horror.

Decent Film
Dean_Nixon25 August 2013
Undocumented is about a couple of grad students making a documentary about illegal immigrants crossing the US border. But things go wrong when the vehicle that their in gets jacked by so called "Patriots".

Chris Peckover did a great job as a director. Throughout the movie i didn't really feel connected to the characters due to dumb decisions. But they also made some good ones. The acting is pretty good. It is a decent time waster but nothing to special. I would say check it out if you think it sounds cool. I wouldn't buy it on DVD unless its a good deal. It is on Netflix Instant Watch.

Yuck
cleanideas10 April 2023
The movie I just saw was a complete disaster. The acting was wooden and unconvincing, with none of the actors delivering a performance that was remotely believable. The script was equally awful, with a plot that was both nonsensical and derivative. The dialogue was stilted and unnatural, with characters spouting off cliches and cheesy one-liners that fell completely flat. Even the production values were subpar, with cheap special effects that were more laughable than impressive. It's a shame to see such a lackluster effort from the filmmakers, and I would not recommend this movie to anyone. If you're looking for a well-made, engaging film, look elsewhere.

10th worst found footage horror movie I've seen
nicolasscavone11 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not a fan of torture horror movies, and that's coming from someone who's watched all the Saw movies. (Why? I guess I like punishing myself) but anyways, I love found footage horror movies I just don't like torture horror movies. And to make it worse, the victim's young daughter gets killed. But to be fair, the captors DID release all the immigrants children. So the children DID NOT get tortured too. So congrats on the captors for having SOME sense of humanity, but that's not saying much. Like one of the scenes, Alberto, (one of the immigrants) his torture session was being quizzed on America's history, and if he gets an answer wrong, his wife gets a body part taken off. I'm not a fan of this one. I just hate the fact that this movies villains are a group of people that hate immigrants. Not recommending.

classic horror at its best
jeffreybaks5 July 2012
I'm all about horror movies, I'm always looking for the next best thing so I have an acquired taste and know when something works and doesn't in the horror industry part of the movies. There are many great horror films out there but only a certain few really push the edge of what makes a out of the ordinary smashing hit horror movie. This movie does that, its a rare breed of great horror that has came out in the last decade.

Obviously movies cant cater to everyone's taste and especially in horror as everyone has limits on what is deemed acceptable more so then many other types. The only reason I guess I mention this is the low rating given at the time I viewed it was 5.8 which to me is a blunder beyond blunders. This movie, has all the aspects you want in a horror movie from, all of the aspects everything;scary, gripping, intense, relentless, etc. There really is no lull or give through out this movie, not one second, every second is like a fine wine of horror that's the only way to describe this movie.

I could write a book on why this movie is great but ill just say that in thousands of horror movies out there, there are a few that stand out and once in awhile one gets it all right and this is one of those!

Shocking Amazing Edge of your seat Thriller
mfischman7410 September 2011
I could not take my eyes off of the screen. The plot and performances were all top notch. My heart was racing through the entire movie and for long after. The story was totally believable and I felt sucked into the movie. This movie brings out the hero in you. Without giving anything away, it made you walk out of the theater thinking ... If I was in that situation, then I would have ____ (fill in the blank with something heroic). Many parts of the movie were very difficult to watch, yet I could not take my eyes off of the screen. This movie is a must see for anyone that likes Thrillers. It's not for weak stomachs. Scott Mechlowicz was amazing in the movie. This was his best performance yet.

Undocumented....A provocative movie with a timely message
robinlouise2 October 2010
This movie reminded me of The Most Dangerous Game where a hunter grew bored with hunting animals and turned to hunting humans instead. This hunter lived alone on a remote island and relied on the surrounding hidden rocks for the shipwrecks that supplied his victims. And so with Undocumented. The humans in this movie, the undocumented immigrants, would never be missed or could never be tracked. I found the movie very hard to watch but it was an effective a warning of man's inhumanity to man as you could get. Do I think that this could really happen......yes! Peter Stormare was very convincing as the psychopathic leader, Z, and I thought the acting was strong all round with an especially fine performance by Scott Mechlowicz as the lead journalist. This film was tight, tense and unforgiving to the senses but it's a story that needed to be told to remind us all that we are all brothers and sisters no matter where we come from or what our circumstances. And yes, we all have a Z inside of us waiting for that spark. Proceed with caution.

Brutal and timely shocker!
Isnam7778 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
There are a few movies I've seen where at the end I feel totally drained. I'm an extreme horror fan, and this film took me for a ride I hesitate to take again. This film falls in line with my favorite types of horror movies, the ones where the real monster is mankind, but this film took me to a place that was almost too dark.

The film, if you've heard anything of the plot, revolves around a young film crew that is shooting a documentary on the plight of illegal Mexican immigrants and decide to take it one step further by actually joining a group of immigrants as they cross the American/Mexican border. This highly illegal activity puts the entire operation in danger, but the immigrants are reassured since they have Americans in their midst. One young family in particular is featured as they express high hopes for a future free of the economic hardship they have back in Mexico. If anyone had any inkling about the direction their journey would take once on American soil, none of them would ever have taken it.

Enter the film's antagonists: so-called "Patriots". A group of paramilitary survivalist types who are nothing more than domestic-bred terrorists, who have taken it upon themselves to repel illegal Mexican immigration in their own special way. They are able rather easily to capture the group (including the film crew). They say they're willing to let the film crew go if they agree to shoot something of a "recruiting video" for their organization, which involves the most heinous tortures I can imagine (especially for the father of the young family I previously mentioned.) The director does an excellent job of placing us in the shoes of the naive film crew, as they are forced to document the crimes against humanity dealt out by the "Patriots". With their lives also threatened the crew sees little else they can do but stand by as the illegals are treated worse than animals. I personally felt the agony of the crew as you can see in their faces they are dying to do something to help the Mexicans. In many scenes, the actors apart of the film crew (Scott Mechlowicz, who I've been a fan of since "Mean Creek", in particular shows off his acting skills) have visible rage building up inside them. Several manage to try and help the victims, while others still try to escape and bring back help, only to be recaptured over and over again and degraded even further. Once they realize that their captors will probably kill them too, they know they must muster all their strength to try and somehow stop the madness going on around them before it's too late.

That's the gist of the movie, and while some may classify most of this movie as "torture-porn" I disagree. There certainly is torture involved, but anybody who might get off on this stuff is probably not right in the head. No, this film is different. This is a full-on assault of your senses and sensibilities.

Besides Mechlowicz, another stand-out in the cast is the great Peter Stormare (the lead nihilist in "The Big Lebowski"). He plays his role "Z", the leader of the "Patriots", convincingly and with considerable menace, and even with a certain amount of charm. To his credit, he does all of this without really showing his entire face throughout most of the movie. Alona Tal, the female lead, also plays her role well as one of the bravest members of the film crew, several times standing up against "Z" and his demented patriotism.

I wouldn't call this a political movie, but I do think it says something about people who think they have some sort of right that makes them better than others. Keep in mind this film repulsed me while at the same time showing me it was a very well-made little film. If you are willing to watch a challenging piece of quality cinema, with no fluff and lots of in-your-face cruelty, I suggest "Undocumented" is a great film to start with.

Inspirational thriller guaranteed to delight
clinton_ross9 June 2013
Undocumented may be the most inspirational thriller put on film in this century. In fact, it was so good I had to buy it! If you are an American who has pride in our own culture you MUST take the time to enjoy this absolute gem of a film. Not only does it have its thrills, but it's also hysterically amusing without trying too hard, or being dishonest to the subject matter and ruining the fun, yet dark mood. The ONLY downside to it is the utterly self righteous "documentarians" whom you will have to suffer; but maybe they get what's coming to them in the end? You'll be rooting for it, but you'll have to watch to find out. Get your chimichangas ready and beware of extra fiesta sauce and piñatas.

Wow, just WOW
pensacolacomputer7 August 2012
What an EXCELLENT surprise from a horror movie. It has been a LONG time since a movie (that I have NEVER heard of) surprised me like this. What makes this movie so scary is that it could actually happen (and probably already has to some degree).

I have never heard of any of these actors, yet all of them did a great job.

And the director needs to be given some props too, excellent job! If there is one bit of criticism, its in the beginning for being a little slow...but STAY WITH IT...you will be rewarded for one of the best thriller/horror movies you have probably never heard of!

2nd Disturbing Found Footage that I have seen.
I found it to be an underrated and disturbing movie. The story is something different with a documentary crew that is forced to record the things that the patriot group does to the immigrants. It's built-up pretty well with introducing the characters and them getting captured by the sadistic radicals. The movie itself is disturbing with the things they do to these people and is pretty graphic on how they do it. There are those types of people out there that make the movie more unsettling on the topic their are doing. The movie has a creepy atmosphere with it taking place in a compound that is filled with armed man and rooms with disturbing things in it. Also, the climax is pretty suspenseful, with the characters fighting and surviving against the group.

There's a couple of flaws with the movie, like it's gets repetitive with the characters trying to escape and fight back but ends up failing until the climax, which gets pretty tedious. And it gets somewhat predictable with the characters' actions.
