Fever pitch
Calicodreamin20 July 2022
The storyline made massive strides in this episode as the hunt builds to a fever pitch. A great pre season finale setting up the showdowns and potentials for twists.

Did the job

I been watching from the start. I feel at times the story is pushed on a bit quickly. Maybe that's because they only have 6 episodes to work with. The 3 main actors are decent actors but nothing to write home about.

Chee and Leaphorn are different
silverton-3795928 December 2022
The two main male characters are very different in this prequel from the same characters in Tony Hillerman's novels set twenty or so years later. These two in the '70s are not as deliberate and composed as Tony Hillerman's characters in later times (since later times equal earlier novels).

To me, these two in Dark Winds are just not accurate depictions of Navajo men in the positions of tribal police as depicted in the original author. Culturally, both men are outside the traditional Navajo attitudes, when Leaphorn should be more restrained in his dealings with fellow Navajos than Chee is. There just isn't enough difference between the two.
