Rosamund Pike (‘I Care a Lot’) on why she found Marla ‘utterly compelling’ [Complete Interview Transcript]
Rosamund Pike plays the villainous Marla Grayson in the new Netflix film “I Care a Lot.” The role just earned the actress her third Golden Globe nomination and her first victory on Sunday night.

Pike recently spoke with Gold Derby contributing editor Riley Chow about what she thinks of her character, what brought her back to playing a character like Amy Dunne in “Gone Girl” and what projects she has coming up. Watch the exclusive interview above and read the complete transcript below.

SEEGolden Globes nominee profile: Rosamund Pike (‘I Care a Lot’) affirms herself as an HFPA favorite

Gold Derby: There are a lot of films about anti-heroes, but “I Care a Lot” really stood out for me because I found myself actively rooting against the main character. I find that usually in these movies, you still kind of want to see how far they go but I feel

How Andra Day could pull a Regina King at the Oscars

How Andra Day could pull a Regina King at the Oscars
Regina King did not turn out to be the next Sylvester Stallone, but Andra Day could be the next Regina King. With a Golden Globe upset win under her belt for Best Drama Actress, the “United States vs. Billie Holiday” star now finds herself on the same Oscar path as King and Stallone were for “If Beale Street Could Talk” (2018) and “Creed” (2015), respectively. All three won Globes, but were snubbed by the Screen Actors Guild Awards and BAFTA (Day didn’t make the BAFTA longlist). King and Stallone also won Critics Choice, where Day is nominated and could very well win on Sunday, even if it’s one of their patented ties. While Stallone came up short for the Oscar, King went all the way, something that could very much happen for Day.

There are quite a few differences between all three races. Stallone and King were in supporting and

Will the 2021 Golden Globes predict the Oscars?

Will the 2021 Golden Globes predict the Oscars?
The Golden Globes may not share any voters with the academy but over its first 77 years has proven to be a helpful guide when making Oscar predictions. By handing out separate awards for dramas and comedy/musicals, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association doubles its chances of predicting the winners of Best Picture and the lead acting races at the Academy Awards. Yes, the 2021 Golden Globes delivered upsets in several marquee categories. But it is still worth looking back at the most recent ceremonies to see how many of the Golden Globe winners went on to collect Oscars.

In 2020, the HFPA rules relegated the big winner at the Oscars, “Parasite,” to the Foreign Language Film category. That denied this South Korean film by Bong Joon-ho a chance to contend for Best Drama; that race went to its fiercest Oscar rival, “1917.” That film’s helmer, Sam Mendes, won over the HFPA

‘The Twilight Zone’ Reboot Not Returning For Season 3 On Paramount+

‘The Twilight Zone’ Reboot Not Returning For Season 3 On Paramount+
Update 2/25: Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films have issued a statement about the end of The Twilight Zone series.

We greatly enjoyed our time working on The Twilight Zone — particularly when the real world around us often felt more and more like another dimension. We cherished the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented writers, actors and crewmembers. After 20 unique episodes, we have told the stories that we wanted to tell, and CBS All Access was gracious in their understanding of our decision. It was an honor and a privilege to bring audiences a modern re-imagining of Rod Serling’s iconic creation.

Previous 2/24: The second season of the reboot of The Twilight Zone was submitted for your approval, to borrow the famous phrase of original sci-fi creator Rod Serling. Apparently, there wasn’t enough approval, as the CBS All Access show won’t continue

2021 Oscar Predictions: Best Makeup and Hairstyling [Updated February 22]

2021 Oscar Predictions: Best Makeup and Hairstyling [Updated February 22]
The Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling is particularly tough to predict early on because of the complicated system by which the nominees are determined in two stages. First, upwards of 15 members of the branch who attend special screenings cast preferential ballots with the top 10 vote-getters moving on to the second stage (it was a lucky seven till this year). Those members from the first stage and any other members who either attend screenings of excerpts from these semi-finalists or attest that they have seen them cast preferential ballots and the top five films are nominated; that is up from three in years past. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2021 Oscars predictions for Best Makeup and Hairstyling).

As a result of being well-received at these screenings, titles that had not been part of the conversation in the first few months of awards season end up as nominees. For example, the

‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’s’ Jane Levy could pull off a Golden Globes upset like fellow TV songstress Rachel Bloom

‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’s’ Jane Levy could pull off a Golden Globes upset like fellow TV songstress Rachel Bloom
When Golden Globes nominations were announced, Jane Levy beat our odds and landed a slot in the Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress category. The singing star of NBC’s musical comedy “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” has the opportunity to surprise again should she claim the trophy. Levy currently lags behind the competition in our combined odds, trailing frontrunners Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”) and Kaley Cuoco (“The Flight Attendant”), as well as Elle Fanning (“The Great”) and Lily Collins (“Emily in Paris”).

Many believe the snub of Levy’s show in the series race hurts its star’s chances, and indeed that hiccup usually doesn’t bode well. In the past 10 years, nine of the winners in this category had at least a corresponding series nomination, if not a victory, including Laura Linney (“The Big C”), Laura Dern (“Enlightened”), Lena Dunham (“Girls”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”), Gina Rodriquez (“Jane the Virgin

Will the Golden Globes predict the 2021 Oscars?

Will the Golden Globes predict the 2021 Oscars?
The Golden Globes predict the Oscars more often than not. These kudos bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) offer one of the best previews of what will win at the Academy Awards. With separate awards for drama and comedy/musical films, the Globes doubles its chances of getting Best Picture and the lead acting races right at the Oscars.

However in 2020, the HFPA rules relegated the big winner at the Oscars, “Parasite,” to the Foreign Language Film category. That denied this South Korean film by Bong Joon-ho a chance to contend for Best Drama; that race went to its fiercest Oscar rival, “1917.” That film’s helmer, Sam Mendes, won over the HFPA but was bested at the Oscars by Joon-Ho who also won for writing and producing “Parasite.”

How ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ could follow ‘The Iron Lady’s’ path to multiple Oscars

How ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ could follow ‘The Iron Lady’s’ path to multiple Oscars
Hillbilly Elegy” isn’t exactly one of the critics’ favorite films of 2020, but that might not stop it from receiving multiple Oscars. Glenn Close is expected to land her eighth nomination for her performance as Mamaw in the film, following bids at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, and some are speculating it may finally be time to give her the Oscar. The actress may actually be aided by the potential presence of “Hillbilly Elegy” in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling lineup, as it made the 10-film shortlist and should be a sure thing for a nomination — it’s in second place in Gold Derby’s odds — considering the heavy makeup on both Close and co-star Amy Adams.

Should Close land a Best Supporting Actress nom on top of the film’s makeup and hair team getting into their category, there is a plausible scenario

Oscars: Best Makeup and Hairstyling Predictions 2021

Oscars: Best Makeup and Hairstyling Predictions 2021
While Netflix’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is competitive in a number of above-the-line categories, today’s shortlist is just one step closer toward securing what is likely its safest Oscar: Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The history of the Muah category points toward the Academy heavily favoring transformation, and the disappearance of Viola Davis into pioneering blues singer Rainey is without a doubt the one likeliest to grab voters’ attention.

The Oscar-winning actress became the sexy, subversive Rainey with the help of gold teeth, charcoal-like makeup, and a wig made of horsehair. And Davis was boldly uncompromising in demanding such verisimilitude. She tapped her personal makeup stylist, Sergio Lopez Rivera, who collaborated with hair department head Mia Neal. The duo did as much research as possible, but there was little photographic reference, so they had to be inventive on a limited budget and little time to prep.

Not surprisingly, the

PBS Digital Will Show duPont-Columbia Journalism Awards
The coronavirus pandemic will make an annual gathering for the reveal of the duPont-Columbia Awards all but impossible. And yet, there will be an opportunity to see them.

PBS’ digital venues will stream a ceremony anchored by CNN’s Anderson Cooper and The Washington Post’s Michele Norris. The stream “will allow people to both watch the awards as they are broadcast, but also at any time,” says Steve Coll, Dean of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism School, which administers the awards, in an interview.

The awards have honored top journalism in audio and video reporting for nearly 80 years. Founded by Jessie Ball duPont in honor of Alfred I. duPont, her late husband, the awards have since 1942 put a spotlight on efforts in broadcast and audio, and on documentary programming. A dozen or so entries are usually awarded prizes each year.

People who watch will find out not only who won,
