After the first episode of this Only Fools prequel got mixed reviews it was a shock to see this show return at Christmas. However much like the first episode this one was well made and showed the back story of Del and Rodney in a sort of comedy drama style.
This episode is more fun than the first and there are a few decent laughs to be had as Del proposes multiple times and Phil Daniels younger version of Grandad has some good lines.
This show seems to be based mainly around the love story between Joan and Freddy the frog and Sullivan writes this story to perfection with beautiful moments of comedy and warmth.
People who did not like the first episode will find nothing here to change their minds but for those who did this second episode will be a welcome chance to invite the Trotters back into their lives.
