In 1960 16-year old schoolboy Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter is living in Peckham with his grandparents, his idle father Reg and his hard-working mother Joan, who is employed as an usherette at the local picture house and frequently has to rebuff the advances of the amorous manager. Del has a penchant for wheeling and dealing but Joan is dissatisfied with her useless spouse and tentatively embarks upon an affair with Freddie ' the Frog' Robdal, a cultured art lover - who also happens to be a notorious burglar recently released from prison.

Did You Know?
The scene where Joan and Reenie are travelling on the Tube to the pregnancy testing clinic was filmed on the disused Aldwych Branch of the Piccadilly Line in central London. This branch, which closed to the public in 1994, is often used by television and film companies when scenes set on the London Underground are required. In this instance, the platforms at Aldwych station were made to look like a Borough station on the Northern Line. See more
During the scene where the viewer sees Joan Trotter crossing the road near Freddie Robdal's car, in the background, Del Boy, Trigger, Denzil, Jumbo, and Boycie can be seen. If you look above their heads, you can see a sound-recordist holding a microphone above their heads, most likely from the scene slightly before this where the group are hanging out on the street. What have the French got to offer us? Citroëns and snails, that's all.
You know, I can't understand how they can eat them kind of creatures.
Have you ever seen a snail close-up? Looks like a bogie in a crash-helmet!
