Horrible horrible wigs!!
anitam24 February 2023
While I appreciate Passionflix attempting this series, they really need to up their game when turning books into movies. The acting is less than middle of the road, chemistry is non-existent, and costuming is...well, laughable. Seriously, who does the wigs??? They are utterly horrible, I've seen better at Halloween costume shops.

This installment runs into the exact same problems Wicked had. No chemistry between characters and lackluster acting. Seriously, I've seen much better in Lifetime movies. There's no spark between the actors at all, just regurgitated lines from the book...only NOW, we have a Prince of the Fey to contend with too...and he's bad, and I don't mean that in a good way either. The acting is REALLY bad, fortunately...the atrocious wig they stick on him that is stiff and lifeless distracts from his less than impressive acting.

The Prince, who is supposed to be gorgeous is made comical by the wig the costumers put on him (really, you couldn't spring for hair extensions or something like that?) This wig is so stiff and lifeless and so obviously a wig that it reminded me of some cheap wig one might buy for Halloween. One would expect hair on him to be "Fabioesque", shiny and free-flowing, not something that would remind them of steel wool. Same with Ivy's now obvious wig (you can literally see the wig line). In Wicked it appeared the actress may have had her own hair or extensions...so why this comically red wig now?

The special effects with the fey's eyes is pretty decent, but this stupid blue streaky thing they do on their skin is just weird. Their skin is supposed to be silvery, this is not silvery...or shimmery...it looks more like water reflections from a pool, and it's an odd blueish tone that one might see in a morgue.

Also, the actor playing Tink could dial it down a notch or twelve. His cutesy comments and delivery gets old. Yes, I know someone must have listened to the audiobook when studying how to play him...but what translates decently in written word where one can change him up a bit in our reader's imagination, doesn't translate well into a real life character. He's just "Ivy Divy" irritating.

Loved the books, sort of enjoyed the audiobooks (minus how Tink is done), and will watch the third just to see if anything improves... but won't hold my breath waiting for it to. It's more likely I'll watch the third (if they make it) to heckle it and throw popcorn at my tv.

Passionflix, you need to step it up...these just aren't good. If I were Jennifer Armentrout, I'd be pissed!

just so incredibly middle-of-the-road
GSK232 November 2022
Well, I have to admit that I never read any of these books nor have seen any of the films until this one. That said, it's not complicated and easy to figure out what's going on.

The only problem is that it's got the wherewithall of a made-for-tv Lifetime movie. That is to say, it's exactly on par with an episode of a daytime soap opera. The acting is about at that level as well. The story is the weakest part. If this follows the books closely, as one other reviewer claims, then the book(s) are probably worse than the cheesey romance novels your grandmother read; it's really that bad. Plus, I'm being generous.

What Did I Just Watch?
arfdawg-127 November 2022
Full disclosure -- I didnt see the first installment, but if it's anything like this one I'm glad I missed it.

This movie is quite simply, horrible. And you can put a capital "H" on that one!

It's boring and runs more than two and a half sleep inducing hours. Compounding this is how poorly shot the film is. Hrd to explain, but the focus is weird throughout and it almost looks like the color is off or wasnt corrected when they finished the movie.

I had a eral hard time sticking it through to the end. Especially knowing that I'd never get that time back.

Don't bother. It's a mess, and that's a fact.

Really good but hate the wig!!!
cindyjordan-5647420 November 2022
I really enjoyed the first movie wicked, tink is my absolute favorite character!!! Andrew rogers plays him spot on!!! I loved everything except that god awful wig ivy was wearing!!! What I'm the world were they thinking with that?? I deducted 2 stars for the wig!!! For whatever reason it takes away something from her character with her hair looking like that. I know it's just hair and not that important but ivys red hair is part of her and when it looks like that it's just not right!! I absolutely can't wait to see the last movie brave, there's a lot of action in the last book and I'm excited to see how they do it!

Amazing

I'm really impressed by how closely the script is to the book. I am a huge fan of the books and I feel like all the characters were played really well. Im glad that the movie was long enough to fit in what they needed to. I'm glad it didn't feel rushed at all.

I am especially in love with Tink. His character in the book and in the movie are spot on.

Brina was played quite well as she was known to be sadistic and cruel. Faye was amazing, compassionate and kind.

Ivy and ren have so much chemistry and it's really nice to see the connection between these characters.

I'm looking forward to brave.

The most ambitious, entertaining PassionFlix movie so far!
janedwards-745792 November 2022
This is the adaptation of TORN, book 2 in the Wicked trilogy by Jennifer Armentrout, and director Taryn O'Neill does an exceptional job bringing this story to life. It's a complex paranormal romance tale of good versus evil and I particularly loved the performances of Liam Hall as Ren, Andrew. Rogers as the Brownie, TINK, and Kevin Joy as the Prince. Three totally different characters. All excellent actors especially Kevin with his dark, brooding look and deep voice, capturing the evil Prince Drake perfectly. Andrew is a joy to watch as TINK and steals every scene Liam plays Ren with everything he's got. 100% into it. Anna Maiche is good as Ivy but I loved her actual long red hair in Wicked; the wig here was a bit distracting.

There's one more movie, Brave, yet to be filmed and I truly hope Taryn is at the helm of the final chapter.

So much better than the first film Wicked, this one is totally worth watching...and rewatching!
cgvsluis3 November 2022
Torn is the second offering in the Wicked Trilogy based on the hugely popular books of the same name by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I personally was a little disappointed in the first film Wicked, but I am happy to say that Torn was so much better. It seems they addressed some of my complaints of the first film, specifically the sex scenes which were well handled in this film.

Movie two starts right where movie one ended with the big reveal...Ivy is the halfling that everyone has been looking for. Struggling with having nearly been killed by the prince and this new information, who does she trust with this truth...and then there is her best friend Val, who has betrayed the Order. Ren is being very wonderfully kind and protective. It seems he and Ivy are getting closer...except Ivy is keeping her secret from him. When members of the Elite show up and Val dies, Ivy confesses both her love and halfling status to Ren and then he disappears.

The story is tight, the sex scenes are well handled and sexy, and the introduction of several new characters is well handled...Breena and Faye in particular. The one and only character that I had issue with was the Fae Prince. I don't know if it was due to editing or acting, but at times his delivery was choppy and less than natural...even for a domineering jerk who has no humanity.

I am so pleased to say I loved this second film, it lived up to what I have come to expect from a passionflix offering and I can't wait to see the third book Brave brought to life with the same treatment!

I highly recommend this film to both romantics and Passionflix fans alike.

True to story but ugly makeup - particularly the FAKE WIG
vmalikova-3102025 May 2023
Great story line, 2nd movie matched the book at say 95% but "Torn" was kinda made cheaper looking then 1st movie & I super hated Ivy's fake wig, though actress really tried to make it work. Nevertheless it's very very detailed & defined to the actual book so they didn't mess up much as they did in Game of Thrones. I imagined some characters differently but all in all they were pretty nicely depicted though visually didn't really match the description. But you could relate to their deeds hence pick point who the new faces are. I still like this trilogy because I read the books & recommended 2u!
