Why did this leave us
princessstrickland2122 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Better than the version Nick has now. Even better than the 80s. Great stories, great voice acting Just amazing, having Splinter have a backstory of having a daughter being brainwashed by Shredder. Also getting the start of Beepbop and Rocksteady, and even finding out how to save everyone by mutagen. Worth the watch

A lot of hard work and respect for the original
kayladanrazzo12 September 2018
Voice acting is great, animation is beautiful, story line is well thought out and interesting, turtles personalities are true to the source, they still have the brotherly bonding, its funny enough for children, just overall great. The only things I could complain about (and its reaching some) is Donnies obsession over April gets old after a while and sometimes Mikey comes across as too immature and incapable. Everything else is great, I love this show and I'm 25

Surprise surprise...
sanathjkumar3 October 2012
It was indeed as surprise for me when i watched the season premier, i was a little skeptical and scared to watch as one of my favorite childhood memory could be ruined again. I was sooo wrong, this proved not only to be a worthy watch but added some more elements to the individuality of the characters, for example the height, facial expressions all made the Turtles differentiable from each other *(besides the colored eye band/mask of course). I just fell in awe & admiration within the first minutes, there was just one thing though which withheld a 10 star, cowabungaaaaaa. My most used word as a kid was missing and that was a bummer. It does have many more extras to balance the missing but i still anticipate i may hear it. This is indeed a worthy and more than expected successor to the 80's super-hit show.

Short and Simple Review
donjohnbig14 November 2012
I gave this a 10 out of 10 for good reason. TMNT being my favorite childhood series I didn't think I could ever see that "magic" again. Nickelodeon has surpassed that with this new series. The personalities with each turtle goes much deeper than the simple catch phrases and slap stick persona's we grew up with, yet maintains it with a fresh new approach.

The humor in this show is undoubtedly to be enjoyed by both children and adults. Never have I really given a chuckle to a kids show like I do with this series, and every episode! This is the turtles at their best in any kids series throughout their history, hands down. (IMO)

To the old fans who are still whining, please change your huggies and grow up along with this new generation.

Everything a Ninja Turtles fan can wish for, old or new.
ronnie-dieleman10 March 2013
As I can imagine many before me, I've held off watching this new show for a long time, afraid it'd damage the overall feeling I have for TMNT. I'll have to note the nostalgia for TMNT is particularly high for me. And the whole Nickelodium thing made me imagine this new show might turn out too kiddie. But oh man what a wonderful surprise and adventure this show has become to me so far. The new designs took a place in my heart after just one episode, and the action and animation does not disappoint at all. I've fallen madly in love with it. The humor is still present, although way less corny and tacky then in the classic cartoon. And the characters are great. Very great, in fact. It's the writing of this show that has sealed the deal for me. Each turtle's personality comes across flawlessly, and even characters that only make a single or fast appearance stick to the memory. Leatherhead, in that regard, has been a highlight. 'His' episode has been the absolute highlight for me so far. Whereas in the classic cartoon he was just a stupid, 1-dimensional cardboard-cutout side character, in this new incarnation he is emotionally laden and a very effective character you can't help but care for. And the running joke where Mickey reassures his brothers that Leatherhead is 'totally mellow', followed by one of the other Turtles to say something that makes him go absolutely bananas, was just golden.

The basic premise of the show is still present; the Turtles live in their underground, sewer lair, and get up and out on the streets to kick some robot and alien butt. I can only hope the episodes stay as strong as they have been. Furthermore I hope they have learned by now that messing too much with the premise can make the whole thing tumble towards the ground again. Fast Forward, anyone? Let's not do that again.

I'm glad the current generation of kids can enjoy a show of this quality, and be introduced to the world of the Ninja Turtles. Highly recommended for fans of the old cartoon and newcomers alike.

ps. Keeping my fingers crossed for my favorite villain, Armaggon, to make an appearance in a future episode! He's originally from the Archie comics, but I've learned that Laird has brought up the rights so it should be possible.

Booyakasha!

Awesome
cloudstarr8 February 2013
Wow what a shock this show is. I was surprised at how well the characters are written out and how they interact with each other. When I first saw the first episode, I thought to myself "um...I think I like this. Should I be embarrassed?" and now I'm glad to see that it's getting positive reviews.

When the turtles had their first fight, they had problems fighting along side each other and was refreshing to see that these turtles are very flawed but organic and have a lot of room for growth. One minute they are getting a long and the next minute they are fighting, but it alternates between the 4. For instance, Leo and Raph are usually butting heads, but one episode they mocked the other 2 turtles saying that they were inferior at fighting, and Leo and Raph dubbed themselves as the "A-team" haha.

Can't wait for the dvds! I hope they can keep this up!

Best Ninja Turtles Cartoon Ever! Thank you Nickelodeon!
milesrob-17260124 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Wow Nickelodeon Really Nailed this show! love these guys!

This is Exactly how Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles should be like unlike the Original 80's cartoon and 2003 cartoon series. but i loved this version when it first came out of course in 2012 i later loved it yes it's about the 4 main characters the Turtles Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey and their rat sensei Master Splinter. and the Villain Shredder also the Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady. and Karai.

the Other main Characters of course Donatello's love interest April O'Neil. Casey Jones is the hockey playing skull face dude voiced by Josh Peck who is famous for playing from Drake & Josh of course! and Seth Green does good voice acting for Leonardo in Season 3 and the rest of the series until the end at Season 5.

My Favorite episodes are: The Croaking when Mikey runs away from after making a mess of things and meets a frog name Napoleon and become good friends. i liked that episode alot. The Pulverizer episode was funny and hilarious! so as the Pulverizer Returns. Pizza Face episode was really dark though Mikey had to fight the terrifying attacking pizzas and had to fight Pizza face to save his family and friends. but it did have the Best and Good epic moments for a Ninja turtles cartoon but overall i enjoyed this show alot and saw the last episode and it's ending too. this tmnt show gets 10\10 Excellent and Peferct! Turtle Power forever!

Lean Green Fighting Machine
sn-watcher18 January 2013
You would have to be living under a rock not to know who the TNMT are. Even if you don't like them you have to give them the respect that they deserve. Entertaining kids and adults alike for decades.

I have been a been a fan since I was a kid and am glad they are still around in one form or another. (Except if Michael Bay gets a hold of it. :) )

This form of the TNMT is great. They have taken some of the ideas from previous series and adapted it to this story. Nick has taken the ideas and applied them for a new generation to enjoy. The CGI is certainly a great idea and it gives the guys a modern look and I like that they have made them more individual.

Deep down the core of the story is still the same 4 brothers being a team and kicking Shredders butt. But it is more than that it is also about family and applying the things they learn from Splinter in everyday life.

Leonardo is still the leader. I like this one because he seems to be able to lead but still have a sense of humour. Some of the other series he can be a bit serious and always more worried about how to be a better leader.

Raphael is still the hot head. He always likes to punish the bad guys and ask questions later. And like the other series his aggressive nature lands him in trouble more often than not and a good source for conflict with Leo. (See Temper turtle)

Michelangelo is always fun and source of amusement from the other turtles. They always treat him like most brothers do with funny calls and giving him a hard time in a brotherly way. Especially Raph.

And of course Donatello, I don't know why but he always seems to be the one I connect with (Everyone has their favourite). He is calm, easy going. He seems to be the positive influence in the group always trying to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence. Although he doesn't mind beating a few heads with his bo staff to get his point across. Plus the other turtles would be lost without his tech knowledge and ability to build awesome turtle vehicles and smoke bombs.

What ever your fancy this show has something for everyone. Little kids and big kids alike.

Don't think about it too much Buy it, download it, watch it, enjoy!

1st season amazing...thats it
rich-1216910 April 2023
How did anyone make it past season 2...which is as far as it is on netflix in 2023. I loved season1 and tried to watch the rest somewhere...but finally its on netflix now and gosh is it awful. The animation is much worse.

The story is much worse, the dialogue is much worse..everything is waaaaayyy worse than it was.. And suddenly April is the target of the Krang...and always has been... I hate when a show suddenly changes and they say it has always been this way,

The heck it was...April is suddenly telepathic..the target of the krange, and the one! What kind of bs is that?

This is as far as i can make it. The consipracy of krang ruined it for me.

Really excellent! One of the reviewers already wrapped it up perfectly, but they did an AMAZING job with this reboot. I too was afraid it would be horrible but I was completely wrong (I was a HUGE fan as a kid and continue to be as an adult). The individuality of the four turtles really makes this thing work. The animation is great. The voices fit the turtles. Story line is good (not a fan of the new per/episode villains though). Hope to see Rocksteady and Bebop soon. The way they are using Krang is also unexpected, but its sort of a neat idea. I hope they keep this up and continue the great story lines. But seriously, where's the COWABUNGA?

Worth Watching
TurtlePeen11 July 2023
I was wary of watching initially, but I think there is something here for both older and newer fans. It's a decent modernisation that contains elements of the early cartoons and the graphic novels, while also being it own thing. The clunky 3D graphics actually have their own charm (even if humans look rather awkward), and the characters mostly seem well considered. The series offers good humour and action. I enjoyed the first season. The rest remains watchable, but seems darker, less funny, less thought out, and Casey Jones is insufferable. I also think the audience rating is a little off. I do not think this is suitable found younger children. This series can be surprisingly dark and violent for a kids show, so I would recommend adult supervison for under 12s.

Campy
ubstupid18 April 2014
yes it was. The 2003 series was darker and followed the comics pretty well while also including new aspects. It had story arches that spanned multiple episodes if not entire seasons so you were hooked into going back for each episode. It didn't sensor the action near as much as the 2012 series does. It's toned way down on the nickelodeon version when compared to the 2003 one. It still had Mikey's sense of humor and Leonardo's sense of leadership. They got the turtles personalities right on. The flashy CGI in the new one doesn't make it better content wise. Obviously the new series is meant to appeal a young viewer while the 2003 series is meant for an older audience. not necessarily adults but an older audience still. One that has the attention span to remember what happened in the episode one week prior. I would equate any adult that likes this series better than the 2003 series to BRONIES. "Bros who love my little pony" for those who don't know. For gods sakes the emoticons that sprout over their heads when something happens are hokey and ridiculous. Its not a coyote and roadrunner cartoon and it shouldn't try to be.

Best version ever.
princessstrickland2122 October 2020
Love the style, love the voice acting, love the stories. Even at the point where the turtles of 2012 meet the 87 version. Even if the late James Avery is no longer voicing Shredder, Kevin Michael Richardson isn't half bad. Love the design of April, even if she is a teen. Even though the show is gone, I will still watch repeats. Definate watchable for any TMNT fan!

Perfect reboot of a beloved franchise!
tmntshow4 July 2013
I honestly believe this is the BEST incarnation of the TMNT since the Original Comics! The way the characters interact off each other and the constant lessons learned throughout the Episodes and the way they tie into the overarching plot is incredibly clever. :) This show creates some very 3-dimensional characters and reintroduces us to our previous fan-favourites in a very special way.

Kraang Prime is Sensational and My favourite Episode so far is "Parasitica" because of the amazing Mike Arc and the way it was set up like a horror movie (with each turtle being infected one by one.) That was AWESOME! 10/10 Great Job, Nickelodeon. :D

Love being a Turtle fan!
dobricnemanja594 April 2014
This is one of the, or wait, this is the best TMNT incarnation since the comics! The plot, the script, the characters, everything is great. Like the way they are different between each other, story has humor and seriousness at the same time, which is great. Turtles from the 1987. show were quite silly and too much a like. Don't get me wrong, the show was epic, but I think that this is going to be kids best heroes today. Every character is well written and the story develops really good. I am glad to have this kind of cartoon now, when I am finishing collage. Man, I love being a turtle fan!

Highly recommended for all ages. 10/10.

Even better than I remembered! Turtle Power!
kylieluber30 November 2020
My dad and I watched this show together when I was younger. I remember my dad being so excited about it because he grew up on the original and watched it with his little brothers. We ended up loving it and tried to watch it every time it came on. He ended up passing away before the show ended and I didn't have the strength to finish it for a few years. Then out of nowhere my little brother decided he wanted to watch it with me and I finally finished it with him. We had a great time watching it and I felt closer to my dad in the process. Sappy story aside, this show is fantastic! The animation style great and its fun how they incorporated 2D animation in it which I'm guessing is a nod to how this franchise started in the comic books. The character development is phenomenal and the story telling is very fun. And for a kids show...it gets very deep and emotional at times and made me cry once. It has mature themes but still has fun, goofy, and wacky themes. The writers definitely had fun with this show and really explored every angle they could. Some things happened that the original TMNT couldn't even dream of and that was so cool! 10 out of 10! Booyakasha! #Donapril PIZZA! Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Pretty fun show to watch
No-Life-10114 December 2022
Season 1: [6/10] This first season is filled with some pretty fun episodes to watch and a cliff hanger on the last episode. There was some character development throughout the first season but not much, I'm hoping they add more in later seasons.

Season 2: [5/10] Another long season which I love! The start of the season was a bit slow I found but it picked up and then ended on a cliff hanger. Happy to see some more character development too, as well as some new faces.

Season 3: [5/10] So the beginning half of the season focused on the turtles healing from injuries and overcoming personal setbacks. I like the new intro and it's nice to see some new faces being included. The middle of the season focused more on team dynamics and taking down villains, some fight scenes I liked but others just felt a bit tiresome to watch again. Towards the end of the season there are a few fun episodes that lighten the mood, but the end of the season was a bit dramatic.

Season 4: [5/10] I've never really been a big fan of the begging half of this season, I feel like it takes away from the original story and tries to become another show. The new characters felt a bit boring too and I couldn't really get into their fights or dialogue. However, the second half of the season feels a bit more natural and in time with the original story with some added plot points and stories.

Season 5: [5/10] Bit of a shorter season this time but I like the new intro. There isn't much of a main storyline this time and I couldn't really find myself getting interested in this season. Now don't get me wrong, some of the episodes were entertaining but I wanted the depth and character development as other seasons have had.

Overall [6/10] I have re-watched this show many times but only now have I wanted to make a review. There are some aspects of the show that just feel a bit lifeless, for example there aren't many characters in the background so it feels like it's the turtles and their opponent in the city. Also, I've never been a big fan on the romantic aspect that they added for this version, I felt like it was out of place for a TMNT show, and I didn't really like what they did to some of the characters. But, I do really like the turtles designs and I love how the intro changes slightly with each season. The VAs did a wonderful job and the matched their characters perfectly and brought a new life to them.

One of the best turtle reincarnations
mjjmacs13 September 2018
This show is easily one of the best reincarnations of the turtles. It takes a good amount from the 80s series, while also bringing in some elements from the 03 series. The show is enjoyable for all ages, having its comedic moments for the younger viewers while also getting series and providing an interesting plot that keeps you watching.

Decent version
tdsearles253 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, a very solid addition to the TMNT universe. The turtles themselves are pretty well done. Except I feel they could have done better with Donatello and not dabbled so hard in his crush on April. They nailed Leo and Raph I think though.

Wasn't a big fan of April or Casey in this version, but master splinter was great.

The main thing I didn't like is the world and backdrop, always feeling empty Except for the immediate action. A lot of times it felt too much like they were all living in a soulless computer simulation that got really weird at times. They also left portions of the story unfinished. Like Timothy turning into a goopy mutant and just leaving him like that.

Shredder was okay. His mutant sidekicks were hit and miss. Overall not bad but definitely issues here.

My favorite Animated Show of all time!!!!!
tomcode17 January 2020
WOW! This show is amazing. The filler episodes in this show are actually make sense and are good. Has some emotional moments. Great Fight scenes. Intense episodes as well as moments! Great! Overall!

They Really Nailed all the Turtles and most of the characters. Raph was done perfect, Donnie Perfect, Leo was good but turn into Great we Seth Green played him, Mikey is exactly the Mikey we need in these shows.

Other Characters like Splinter, Leatherhead, Slash, Future Toid, April, Karai, Casey were all Great!

The Villains were awesome! This Shredder is one of my favorite villains of all time!!!!

Other Great Villains like The Kraang, The Triceratons , Tiger claw, Bebop and Rocksteady, fishface, Razar, Newtralizer, Lord Dregg are done sooooo well.

Overall Great Show 10/10. Couldn't ask for anything more!!

Good with a huge asterisk
xxpizzaxx18 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Before I share my review I want to share a little story. When I was a kid, this show was one of my favorites. For the first three seasons I was there for almost every episode premier. But when I was around 11-12 I stopped watching, at the beginning of season 4. Even for a dumb little kid like me, going into space was too much. Eventually ~7-8 years after I stopped watching I began rating shows I watched and I decided to rewatch it so I could rate it.

Now before season 4, there are definitely still some stinker episodes, bigfoot and dream beavers comes to mind, and there's definitely many filler episodes. But after season 3 there are entire arcs of this show that are just atrocious. The first half of season 4 is dedicated to one of the most basic and borings space arcs I've ever seen. The Triceratons, Lord Dregg, and Armaggon are just such uninteresting antagonists, but the show kept trying to insist on them. And after you finish this horrid space arc you get to realize that it was almost completely pointless. They travel back in time in the first place to prevent the Triceratons from getting the pieces to the blackhole generator, and they fail completely, meaning that when they return to earth to fight them the only 2 differences is that they arrive five minutes early and that April now has this crystal. The entire arc just feels so pointless and it really makes me feel like I could've just skipped to the last episode of it and the rest of the show would still make complete sense. Luckily the rest of season 4 is on par with the rest of the show. Season 5 however takes another dip in quality. The first few episodes are interesting enough but the entire middle part of this season (side from one episode featuring a flashback told by Splinter) is pure filler, and not even entertaining filler at that, although it had a good ending.

Now all that being said, I still overall like this show. The filler before season 4 is mostly funny. This show has some absolutely phenomenal antagonists, especially the ones that work for Shredder. The vast majority of story related episodes are also amazing (except the space arc). If I watched solely the Foot related episodes I could easily imagine myself giving this show a 9/10 or 10/10.

But alas, this show was genuinely grueling to watch towards the end. In season 4 and 5 I was solely watching for completion. In the end I would only recommend this show if you have a lot of free time on your hands, or if your watching for nostalgia like I did.

Better improvement
pefre-1940211 June 2017
I remember some while back, I user to wake up quite early just to watch this show. I was a fan if the very old show, liked the art style then and everything, but along the way into modernity the show lost its stand totally therefore when I heard of this upcoming series, I thought it was going to be a failure like the recent ones but I was wrong.

The art style certainly has improved making it much attractive and I really like the plot of the origin of the turtles. Much insight and more revealing.

The show also kept on bringing new things each and every season and changing the same old plot with a new and even much mysterious one. Thumbs up to this show.
