Fantastic
graham-mcfarlane6 August 2012
This hit the spot. I have not loved a show this much since i first discovered NCIS. When i discovered today that it was cancelled i felt as if someone has died. I actually went online to order box set, but no point now. This is LIFE(another cancelled show) all over again. Fox get your act together and make stuff real people want to watch not teenagers too many reality shows and not enough good wholesome clean fun like The Finder. P.S I've filled in the petition. And yes i loved Bones but gave up after series 3 , this is much better and could easily go another 3 or 4 series. The actors are brill and all work well together, you get a real sense of 'family' from them a cop, a soldier a lawyer and a thief. I also love the way the show has action, laughs, and trivia, you learn something new from this every show. Law, life, science, art, i could go on.

Something Different
lamont-hard15 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This series appears to be just a bit different. We have the adviser guy with a religious soul, a juvenile bad girl, with sleazy family issues, and a FBI woman who helps with protection and provides muscle for the finder. Our main guy seems to be one who is off the rails and kind of quirky he can find anything he wants to find for the sake of closure for his clients or in the name of justice. I don't think many of us has seen this before.

His head quarters is a bar at the end of some dirt road near a swampy area in south Florida. Perfect for the type of character, mood this series wants to be.

One thing I really like, is they seem to be avoiding the trap of how long will they court each other before they give in to desires, well that was cleared up from the first episode, I think we are all a bit tired of that story.

They seem to all make a great team and I am looking forward to this show, a great contrast for bones fans so tune in, It's worth it.

This show was basically ignored to death.

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this show. It wasn't the best show ever, but I liked the stories and I liked the characters. It was stultifying to see Fox push this off the Thursday night schedule in order to make room for more American Idol, etc. I can't stand those shows. "The Boy With the Bucket", the season (now series) finale was the best episode by far. It was filled with the most sentiment since "The Conversation", the episode that referred back to Leo's daughter's birthday present. (The emotional energy of that episode was stretched a bit thin, but Leo's character had the strength to pull it through for me...) In "The Boy With the Bucket" we got to meet Walter's brother and parents, and many a tear was shed. It brought everything to a wonderful head and blew almost everyone's world apart, leaving Leo to be Leo - either the old Leo or the new Leo, either to try to pick up the pieces and make sense out of what happened and help get Walter out of the hole, or move on with his life and be callous and firm. I get it that this show was not high brow and that it was uneven and unashamed to bring in the most spectacular absurdities. It had wonderful potential, and the series finale, "The Boy With the Bucket", showed how enjoyable an episode could be when it rose to meet that potential. The choice to use "Is it like today?", one of my favorite songs, for the soundtrack over scenes of Willa hitch hiking and trying to escape Shad nicely summed up the mood of the episode and now sadly, the series. (you can easily find the lyrics on the web - lyricstime.com/world-party-is-it-like-today- lyrics.html)

Great Show on my Do Not Miss List
First off, if there was a way to give 20 stars I would. After years of CSI type shows, this is a breath of fresh air. The plots have unusual twists and the cast performs admirably.

I love the character of Willa, played to the tee by Maddie Hasson. A blond female youth role that is not the teen angst with a side of privileged cheer leading princess is such a refreshing change. Her character is strong while at the same time vulnerable, making one root for her.

The title character, the Finder, portrayed by Geoff Stults would drive you nuts as a friend but as entertainment he's a hoot. Locating the missing (fill in the blank) through a combination of observational skills and the ability to see what's going on outside the box, the route from A to B is never a straight line and is always entertaining.

Michael Clarke Duncan as Leo is a gem. He is actually the soul of the show and, in addition to being talented, has the most wonderful voice on television. I could listen to that man reading the phone book! All in all, this is one entertaining show that I hope has a long life and keeps writing the quarter bubble off plot lines. Well done all!

LOVE the Finder
csymin11 May 2012
I love this show -- and the new cast is, in my opinion, far better than the one-off prequel which introduced the show as it spun off from Bones. Geoff Stultz character is played brilliantly as is the whole supporting cast. Even Eric Roberts' gnarly turn as gypsy boss was excellently cast. Where did the writers' come up with this? I thought it far more original than anything else around (I'm sick of your typical CSI crime dramas) with lots of humor to go along with the clever scripts. Having just learned the show did not get renewed, I'm once again so annoyed at myself for giving Fox a chance. They seem to cancel everything I've ever liked and renew all the crap. Too bad. This cast, these writers, this concept were all awesome. I sure hope some other network picks them up. Fox infuriates me.

Funny, witty and keeps you guessing
cshook42-267-7262316 January 2012
Great show with a great cast that work well together. We love the way "The Finder" puts things together. This is a very different series, it keeps you guessing as the "The Finder" goes on the hunt. It also gives you enough clues to put things together yourself. The characters are ones you want to pull for to do the right thing and you find yourself caring about how things work out for them. I am also happy to see Micheal Clark Duncan in this series, his character brings the right balance to the finder. We just hope it can stick around for a while and we will not lose "The Finder". Give it a look, you won't be disappointed.

Quirkiest new show on TV!
RhondaH7011 May 2012
Stellar cast and wonderful, refreshing new premise! They have great chemistry and I laugh out loud every episode.

I did not even know, nor do I now care, that it was a "spin-off" from Bones. My whole family loves it and I think Fox is mistaken if they cancel it without giving it a chance. I am SO sick of reality, music and cartoons! They pre-empt like crazy, moved shows around to where you don't even know what night it comes on and then wonder why ratings drop.

Maybe one day Fox will also realize that not all of their viewers are teenage airheads but some actually want TV that has a plot and entertains.

New Invented MacGyverism
pontram15 August 2012
When I first watched this show, I thought 'so what, folks ?'. But I gave it a second chance, a third, a fourth....until season finale. And now I miss it, knowing it will not be continued.

"The Finder" was nowhere to call a spin-off, except for the first few episodes, with a really small number of guest appearances from "Bones" there. What the producers seemingly didn't realize is the real target audience for the show. It is a great show for teenagers, whose struggles with the society are represented by the Willa Character, supported by the big Leo figure as a benefactor, and led to creativity in thinking by the deeply sympathetic main character Walter's crude solutions, which are of course mostly not replicable, but are indeed showing how lateral thinking could work.

What I didn't like was the biased presentation of the gypsies. Most Americans may do not know what Gypsies are or may have never heard of them. It's definitively not their main profession to steal from others. And if they submit a crime, it can be violent also. Their society has a number of questionable customs, like child marriage, but a society should not be prejudged. People have to accept that there are different ways to live. Property and employment are not mandatory for a respectable life.

The show has not much violence and a lot of humor and even some wisdom. It lacks a certain dramatic level, but for adults it has a conciliative aspect, which may on the other hand not be very attractive at 8.p.m. or 9.p.m.

I would position this show at the same level as "Mac Guyver" from the 1980s, which is now cult. While the old show was mainly action-driven, "The Finder" is more a "Sherlock-Holmes in Miami" scenario, utilizing unusual thoughts, a little bending of the law, and gut instincts. One of the nicest ideas here was the task to find a special menu for a husband who wanted to save his marriage with it, and although the realization of this idea was undeniably not the best, when not even far from good, it was a very enjoyable episode.

It was really a bad decision to cancel this show.

Goes good with a margarita
callmechaz19 January 2012
OK, this is kind of fun, but...it's sort of like the kind of semi-witty banter you engage in with your buddies in a bar after you've had a few. You all think you are a riot, but the sober couple at the table next to you is somewhere between mildly entertained and mildly irritated.

Add to that the unimaginative and totally obtuse conclusions that "The Finder" draws from every obscure fact and...well, you may want to have a few before you watch. Or, you can just excuse the whole thing as being "tongue in cheek", and just enjoy it.

On the bright side, it co-stars one of my favorite actors, Michael Clarke Duncan. Geoff Stults, the Finder, is palatable as the quirky combination of Columbo, Sherlock Holmes, and of course just a touch of Bones sarcasm. There's the obligatory smattering of hot chix for men of all ages. So what do you have to lose. Give it a try--it's a good excuse for a drink--or two.

Great characters, great stories.
uffb5 May 2012
This is one of the best TV series out there. A very entertaining comedic drama... The regular characters are simply beautiful souls. The Finder's "Legal Adviser" stands out in this respect, but the other character each have their endearing quirks and come across as people anyone would love to have as a friend. Combine that with a quirky and engaging story line, and you have a series which is consistently one of the most entertaining and engaging things on TV these days. Sometimes the Rube Goldberg devices Walter creates to help his thought processes are clearly impossible for one person to create in under a month, but aside from the suspension of disbelief required for that, this series is essentially flawless.

Quirky
movie_freak_dubai22 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Quirky show with a bit of potential.(Minor plot points mentioned below) This is a show about a ex- military man who likes to find things. He can find a bullet that was fired 20 years ago in the Florida swamp or he can even find where a plane crash landed even though it disappeared 10-15 years ago.

I have not really seen anything before which stars the same lead actor Geoff Stults but he does an alright job here as his main brief is to portray an eccentric quirky mind on screen a la Sherlock Holmes. Good to see Michael Clarke Duncan, who's an interesting actor, on the small screen.

This show might last a couple of seasons if it can keep the audience interested with little insights into how 'Walter' is able to find things and simultaneously revealing more about his slightly murky past. The Finder has a few characteristics of another hit Miami based show 'Burn Notice' but occupies a more light hearted space.

Great Shows Always Get Canceled
kuluvas14 June 2012
Great Shows Always Get Canceled, Why you might ask ? Because most of this great country is retarded, They watch garbage like The real(fake) House wives of Slut city or Anything else that's called reality but is less realistic than a most fictional story's. Full of Artificially Colored, Sweetened, Flavored and Produced People that aren't Nearly as smart as my dog. This show is witty, extremely well written, directed and preformed, it's a fantastic concept and I think the best spin-off since N.C.I.S. Incredibly entertaining and quirky with a hint of Intelligent sarcasm ! I think that the reason most shows like this are canceled is because they are to smart for most of the viewing public so they turn to shows about 16 yo mothers that are more concerned about their hair than their kids. So Keep Failing Fellow American Viewers I'm sure they will make a ton of great shows for you to cancel !

Weird Scooby Doo gang
SnoopyStyle16 September 2013
Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults) is an Iraq war veteran who has special skills finding things. He owns a bar with Leo Knox (Michael Clarke Duncan). US Deputy Marshal Isabel Zambada (Mercedes Masöhn) is his love interest. Willa Monday (Maddie Hasson) is a gypsy serving her probation with the gang.

There is a good possible premise with a really weird guy and his Scooby gang. It was first on TV show 'Bones' episode called 'The Finder'. Back then, the gang had Saffron Burrows. I like Walter weirder and with Saffron in the group. Although Saffron should lose that odd accent. Mercedes never fits in the group. She works as the outside love interest. The group needs one more character. Maddie is more of a mascot. The core debating group need 3 people at least. This lasted a half-season. It needs more time to fix the various kinks.

Sort of entertaining, but cheesy
marius-615-47010319 September 2014
I was excited about watching this show, since the premise seemed interesting.

Instead, it turned out to be repetitive and full of clichés. The plot doesn't always make sense, and most of the time is uninteresting.

Actors are not the best (to say the least), and making them fit in the story feels really fake and unnatural.

The show displays a lot of scenes exploiting women sexuality just to get the attention of the viewer - like a US marshal wearing high heels and an indecent cleavage, scenes of blonde cat fights, etc.

Some episodes will sort of catch your attention but overall I'd say the show is uninteresting and boring.

Love it
dreamweb-277-13325028 January 2012
The show is just good, fun entertainment. Sometimes it's nice to be entertained and not have to think things through. I love the cast, great chemistry all around.

Plus, love the idea of living in a bar at the end of the world somewhere. Very appealing.

I'm not crazy about the gypsy connection and stealing stuff; I like Isabel and her connection with Walter. I like the "family" they have carved out for themselves. I like the BEST FRIENDS feeling; also how the four of them watch out for each other. You get the sense of genuine caring.

Of course it's nonsense. When I want Drama, I watch Dexter. For fun, I will watch The Finder.

I can't believe the show's been canceled!
dpierno7529 May 2012
I can't believe the show has been canceled! I've never written one of these reviews before, but that is how strongly I feel about the loss of this show! I loved the Finder. It was original and funny -so different that the typical "solve the crime" shows.

Don't we already have enough CSIs? It's fun trying to figure out how Walter's mind works to reach the conclusions he reaches. He offers enough clues that the crime sleuths in all of us can try to find the lost right along with him. This show has real heart! The the characters - all are so different, but work so well together.

Why would Fox give up on the show so fast? The show just has to come back! Hopefully another network will pick up the show and let all of us that enjoy the show still have a chance to watch.

Cancel Bones - Keep The Finder
TheJayde13 May 2012
The Finder is by far better than it's predecessor, in that the characters are more well drawn, and the stories are fresher, as well as the actual methods that the main character uses to get to the end.

The characters are unique. Leo Knox played by Michael Clark Duncan was my favorite character, as he was the anchor to the show, and was a highly intelligent man who was also strong physically. Willa was a great addition because she was on the fringe of things, and brought a more youthful viewpoint to the going ons. Plus she's a gypsy, and how often do you see a protagonist that is a gypsy on TV? Simply - The Show is Very Well Done.

Glad I Did Not Avoid This One
PartialMovieViewer7 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
THIS SHOW IS CANCELLED - AND WHY????? It usually takes anywhere from a few shows to a few seasons for a program to catch my interest. The family sat down to watch the first episode and I was about ready to wander into another room and watch, 'The History Channel.' (Why, 'The History Channel', they don't show anything dealing with history anymore.) One of my family members asked me to hang out for a bit – am I glad they did. This show is not serious at all; it's fun and funny; it is original and there is no subliminal lefty-in-your-face message. I know – I know – people are bound to disagree with me. Oh well. 'The Finder', is a crazy show, about a crazy guy, in a crazy environment and has one of the craziest (and interesting) talents…he finds stuff. Like most shows, a strong supporting cast is important and this show is no different. What a cast? The two women are super and are always in the mix – but Michael Clarke Duncan – what hoot? Talk about a valuable character. He is the glue that binds the whole show together. To the writers, directors and producers – please don't mess this show up. Awesome job!

Warning: Spoilers
I love the series The Finder and Iam so sad they only did about a half season. The characters are well written and they have affection for one another. Willa is not only deep and dark but she's hilarious. Walter is odd but it makes sense in this series. Leo's character breaks your heart but he is strong and keeps on living his life. I just wish it had been continued.

Not bad
neightb18 June 2012
Initially, I was excited for the upcoming new TV show. It looked entertaining. However, when I began watching it I noticed that it is fairly similar to another TV series called "Psych." Not exactly similar, of course, but enough to make me lose my interest. There is the central character who does strange and seemingly random actions occasionally, like lie on the ground pretending to be an aeroplane, but the sporadic behaviour seems to be a pale shadow of the same actions taken by the lead character on Psych. Other similarities include the hot police officer who helps them and a constant flirtatious relationship between the two, the black guy buddy who works on cases with him... it was too much for me to take seriously anymore. If you've never watched Psych, then it's a great show. Otherwise...

Love this show
cjennings285312 May 2012
This show is original and thoroughly entertaining. It is smart and funny. The characters are very original and very easy to get involved with. I look forward to Friday nights for the new episodes! Walter is very convincing and funny to watch. Willa is a wayward girl trying to find her place in the world outside of her controlling gypsy family. Leo is smart and a good man trying to make up for his past. Isabel is a good influence on Walter and has a great body!!! Timo needs to join Willa in trying to be a better person and get away from the family so he can be with his true love. I really enjoy the episodes where the Bones crew join the finder cast. I can't wait to see what happens next!

VERY funny!
giggedyguy3 February 2012
I liked bones, but I hardly ever watched it. My roommates love it and can't miss an episode. So when I heard about a spin off I was mildly curious. After reading about the plot I had to see it. I wasn't just happy that I did but I was ecstatic about it. Geoff Stults especially had my roommate and I rolling on the floor in episode 4. There are so many good shows to watch (none of them are on TNT IMO) and this is a must see for me.

As for the supporting cast I give them all 5 stars but Stults is funny just sitting still. Actually, he has the weirdest-looking head I've ever seen in a TV show. Where did he get that chin???

Superb show that will touch your funny bone in all the right places.

could have been a great show
boardship24 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
casting is poor, except for Walter and his legal counsel. In general, story lines are great, but butchered by crude, vulgar, soulless and unconvincing acting. Especially Willa, who seems to be playing herself, a heartless, selfish, spoiled brat refusing to grow up. Too bad, it could have been a great show. Not surprised at all it got canceled, only surprised it ran as long as it did. Mercedes Masoehn could have pulled this show out of the ditch, but as I said earlier, casting was poor. Otherwise settings are exciting, varied, and one of the few things in this show convincing. I have to write 10 lines, before my review is being accepted, but there is not more to say about this show.

my wife watches TV, I web browse in front of the TV. it's our thing.

THIS show, however, has me closing my laptop to watch, every single time. it's wonderful. the characters are GREAT. genius. interesting people who must be paid attention to.

and. it's. over. F you very much Mr. "we know what people want" TV man.

I liked Dexter. . . for awhile. . . I like Justified. the Big Bang theory was great for awhile. now. . . nothing. there is nothing left for me.

We tried "agents of Shield". it's . . . OK. . . doesn't feel like the same writers as the movies. . . so. . . . back to web browsing. what a bummer.

The Finder needs to comeback!
alnnmay331 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
It is not often that one can find good television during prime time that can be watched by everyone in the family. Even shows aired on the widely received channels of NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, and CW often push the risky behaviors of drugs, alcohol, violence, cussing, and sex by testing the limits on how much can be shown or said. Some of the highest rated non-reality television shows on the tube today are often off limits in households with younger children. TGIF was once defined as a family hour (or two) enjoying an episode of Full House, Family Matters, Star Search, etc… The television that is available today in these same time slots no longer inspire family viewing. Even some of the less risky shows one can find on many of these networks still portray enough blood, guts, violence and sex to make them inappropriate for younger viewers. So when a show like The Finder (starring Geoff Stults, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Maddie Hasson) comes along it may take a while for it to be recognized for what it is… correction, was: good wholesome family television.

Looking back there was not a single scene that I felt the need to hide from the four eyes attached to my elementary aged children. Even television shows that claim to be more acceptable for family viewing, like The Finder's big brother Bones, have an abundant amount of viewing that is more appropriately done with the eyes of my little one's safely tucked behind their hands. While I readily profess my guilt over knowing that those very taboos are what attract me to and keep me rooted in the television shows I choose to watch, The Finder proves that a show only needs wit, humor, a good cast and a new angle to draw an audience.

I often have to catch up on all the weekly shows I watch through my provider's online service due to my incredibly busy schedule. I usually watch the shows in an order based on my level of interest, saving the best for last of course! I saw the first episode of The Finder just like every other Bones fan and like most other viewers I was less interested in Walter and more irritated with the loss of Booth and Bones for even one night. It was not until I "accidently" caught the second episode of the show that I realized that humor could still be used in dramatic television. I had prejudged this show based on its interruption of my number one television pastime. Once I yielded to his need to find things Walter Sherman became a rival to Seely Booth himself.

I have seen so many shows come and go with little reasoning behind why they were canceled. I've been upset, let down, even sad, but never have I felt all of that and cheated at the same time. I understand there has to be a standard of success to measure a show against, but with a show like American Idol there has to be enough wiggle room to give The Finder a second season!
