Very well Done....
akreddy_info17 January 2012
The story was simple and crisp, the film focused on emotions of young child and their need to have the attention and the difference it makes if a parent can spare that instead on engrossed in his trivial activities such as phone, message and/or games.

The concept of today's life and want adults prioritize is well captured. There were enough twists in the story but was predictable, there could have been an element of surprise (a-ha moment) but from a other perspective it is a story of a kid which was well laid out. The tag line leaves about your imagination on how you want to perceive the movie or what you feel about who is the lucky one?

The overall screenplay, direction and story line was good. I recommend watching the movie.

Must see for all parents
praveencus3 January 2012
To be honest, I was completely spooked out at the end of the movie. I guess the Story Writer/Director Bala's intention was that. Please mind this is not a horror movie. It is more like an educational movie for parents who tend to neglect their kids for trivial things like browsing the net or texting.

I really appreciate the story writer's ability to write a simple short story that is not complicated but still has so many twists that you can relate too. It made me remember those children book stories that have a moral at the end. This story has a moral for all those parents who tend to neglect their kids.

The actors did a great job, especially the kids, we can see the pain in boys eyes when his dad doesn't play with him, we can see the bubbly fast girl who is very active but still is very vulnerable. The adult actors are good as well. The joker was amazing he conveyed a range of emotions behind those funny eyes. The production quality was amazing, the photography was great and this movie has good music as well... I never knew shorts can have such music. It went along with the tempo of the film.

I appreciate the director for bringing such a good story to the screen. Tremendous effort by him. This is without a doubt the best short I have ever seen.

Must see for all parents.

Beautiful Movie!
venkyshen18 January 2012
Very nice movie! Well made!

The background Music is very clean and all classic touch in every part of the movie. The kid (main character) is very good and emotions are really nice. The clown character is well made and also the actor did an exceptional acting. The captain of the ship the director, the way directed the movie is really awesome; I can see all the hard work and clean presentation in each part of the Movie.

I'd like to appreciate the whole team for such a short film, with more interesting scenes and delivers the strong useful message.

I'd like to recommend every parent should watch this movie.

Keep up good work and good luck to all your future projects.

A must watch short and sweet film for all LUCKY ONES - that brings awareness to both parent & children
maheshnanjappan8 January 2012
Positive Awe factor(S) which I admired!!! and which literally attracted me to watch this short film to the duration of a feature film...(sorry for the confusion....I meant to say that I was so attracted and absorbed by this movie that I watched with my family for at least 5-6 times glued to the couch with zero distraction....) to enjoy each scene of this short film...that conveyed the message intended to be brought out of this movie.

I. Kudos to the director Bala in coming up with a simple yet very powerful and much needed awareness bringing storyline.

II. Amazed with the way of story narration... with lots of twists in the end (taken much pain in each details in every scene...we could see lot of time and hard work invested in it!!!!!)...especially very rarely to be seen in a short film....wonderfully done!!!

III. Great job done by the whole crew with their hard work, dedication that made this film to excel in every department (acting, music, cinematography, screenplay,dialogues....)that is more enjoyable and as well bringing a strong message.

IV. Absolutely the whole cast deserves the special mention of appreciation for bringing out all of their acting skills.. that itself pretty much carries the movie smoothly and conveys the message (with very less dialogue..). Very special mention about the boy's extraordinary acting skills he did expressed his emotions (upset with this dad!!!) right through his eyes.

V. I really liked the idea of the screenplay giving an entirely different approach by giving a twist in the end that helps to provide many different dimensions and perspectives, thereby leaving the endings up to the audience of how they view and conceive it based on their ages, how much in depth they were following and got into the movie.

VI. Hurray to the Director Bala!!!..Great TEAM Work!!!!We are excited and eager to watch more WONDERFUL movies to be coming up in the future from your SPECIAL MOVIE FACTORY!!!!!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK Director BALA and CREW and Good Luck with your future movie creations!!!

Great Movie with a message
rr-nals22 January 2012
A good movie is the one that leaves you wanting more when it's over. This short film does that.Great story, direction, screenplay, acting, music, cinematography, and a great ending (with a little twist). At the end, it makes you cry and feel a throbbing pain near your chest. All the actors are very talented and look much focused. This doesn't look like a film, it seems as if it happened in real life and someone captured it on camera. It's stylish but realistic. This is a strong inspiring film with very emotional scenes and keeps you on the edge of the seat.I would recommend it to people of all ages. Very good movie for all the parents.

The Lucky One – Technically Brilliant and yet truly entertaining short film
vcrajesh757 February 2012
The Lucky One – Technically Brilliant and yet truly entertaining short film .

Starting from the very first scene, I can bet , one would not be able to guess or predict the next scene . Script and director continuously defeated my guess on how the movie would progress , by adding a surprise twist at the end of each scene. I think that is the success of this script and the director.

This short film runs for 18 mins and in pretty much one location yet with lot of interesting twists that will make you to immerse entirely in the movie. Need to really appreciate the efforts of the director for this neat and crisp screenplay.

This Short film excel out in all areas as editing, background score, photography. Background score complements each scene and adds power wherever required. Editing is crisp and neat. Photography is cool and has been handled well to capture whatever the script demanded. Need to specially appreciate the performance by the Kid Jonathan(Gianni Decenzo) . He really did a good job .

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Honestly I was totally blank for few mins after the climax . There were too many questions on my mind on what have been told in the movie and what not have been told . I think that is the intention of the director , to make audience to think beyond the scenes. At the end , when I realized little Jonathan in me , that's where I felt the impact of the film .

Kudos to the entire team and special applause to the director for making such a film possible.

The Lucky One – Must watch film as there is a little Jonathan in everyone of us irrespective of age.

Simple...Clear...Strong
sakgroups13 July 2013
Story is simple and good. Even though everyone knows about this, this message needs to be told to make everyone conscious.

Screenplay is Clear. No confusions and no complications. Well narrated. Everyone including children can understand easily and get the message clearly which is a great success.

Message is strong. All those who see will take it seriously which is a success of this film. You feel it when you come out of it.

Jonathan is a good choice and has done excellent job.

Definitely it is a total Win for the film maker Bala. Hats off to the whole team.

The Lucky One...the audience are the lucky ones here...
hapyfmly626 April 2012
I went to see this little film at a festival, prepared to give it my usual mid-level vote for a good film (or below) as I'm a tough critic.

I was blown away! I ended up giving it the highest rating possible. Bala is a genius! The majority of the cast were amazing...particularly Master DeCenzo (as Jonathan). The musical score was haunting and lent itself perfectly to the roller coaster of emotions that this little film took its viewers through. Overall, it was well filmed and excellently directed and edited.

Rarely have I experienced such a range of emotion in a film, particularly a short film. And the majority of those emotions were evoked by the facial expressions of the actors and the accompanying musical score.

While this film definitely sends a strong social/cultural message, it allowed its viewers to decide how to feel and exactly what message to take away from it rather than telling the viewers how to feel and what to learn. This is art at its best! Well done all! I am looking forward to many more from this talented director! And I'm anxious to see what Master DeCenzo is up to next.

Excellent movie for this generation.
shen-venkat9523 February 2012
The Lucky One very well depicts the modern day style of living. Screenplay is very clearly structured to illustrate how some family in these days are so disconnected internally and are insensitive to the needs of their "loved" ones. It has a very nice twist at the end, which makes the audience think who the lucky one really is. The kind of younger generation that would be the outcome of such a lifestyle is clearly portrayed by the lead character, Jonathan, a handsome little boy with high potential for future acting. The performance of each actor is perfect and the minimal use of dialogues are well thought out. The story is carried out by good flow of scenes. The photography is excellent and the emotions of each actor is very well captured without missing any details. Music is really appropriate and enough to guess the seriousness of the theme. Overall, I liked the efforts and intention behind this valuable film which is needed especially for this generation. I strongly recommend this movie for all parents and kids.

All in one - The lucky one!
praghav19 February 2012
Very well shot! Bravo!! This crew definitely has a lot of potential.. The film is thrilling, emotional, informative - all in one - the lucky one! Best wishes to the young artists and the director.

Background score was minimal, action was great, costumes were elegant, location was appropriate, camera was excellent, emotions were touching, twists were optimal, storyline was very much needed for today and the direction was awesome. Great effort overall!

A very important message was beautifully conveyed in the film - not too heavy not too light. A perfect blend of lights, camera, action! Hats off to the talented team!!

Excellent Movie For Today's Parents and Kids
aishukutti20 April 2012
The Lucky One indeed was a very good movie and a great eye opener for today's parents. We learn that one needs to use technology to live a better life and not destroy the special bonds we are blessed with. It is indeed a thin line that we cross without even realizing it. And this movie helps us see that.

Wonderful acting, excellent set...and in one word Mind-Blowing. The actors very all naturals and did a fantastic job telling the story out. It was indeed an honor to have seen this movie. And yes, there is a good lesson in this for kids as well.

All in all, this movie has achieved a lot in 18 minutes. I hope everyone who watches it enjoy it as much as I did.

Loved the Movie!
ndsheik21 April 2012
This was indeed a very excellent short film that I believe everyone should watch. It makes us look back at our own lives and rethink our day-to-day priorities. Taken in a everyday scenario that happens to you and me, the actors portrayed in a powerful way how 1 decision can completely change lives, and how we as parents should be to prevent that in the first place. It makes you see how each character regards the other as the lucky one.

Wonderful movie, very realistic acting and a natural setting. It is a movie that makes you think and appreciate what you are blessed with. It teaches you to not take these blessings for granted. In 18 minutes, this movie teaches you what is in fact important. It shows you lives can change so much, unless you do something about it now.

In all, I loved the movie!

A wake up call for all the Young parents.....
dev_8224 January 2013
The Lucky One

A wake up call to the all of us, Young parents.....

Companionship is so vital... In all relationships, the one of a parent, demands more. Involvement, commitment, responsibility comes as a package along with love, care, fun, and happiness. The Lucky One reflects all these in it's very own crispness.

One mother's instinct is so strong, while the other's gets a lil distracted; lil distractions always ends as huge mistakes, mostly irreversible !!! The Lucky One reminds us of this damage.

The music plays a vital part, so does the editing!! (Where the boy steps down the pavement, the dads phone rings) The impact from The Lucky One is so much longer than the length of the movie itself. Good work Bala Balakrishnan!  for you & and the whole team.

Eagerly awaiting ur next ......

The lucky One's
aguha-715-52311217 June 2013
The presentation of the movie is very smart. There are many dimensions to the subject and presented in a very simple and sensitive manner. There is also a strong sociological message emitted from the subject. The music is very nice and very much with the mood of the plot. The clarity of thought and subject is clearly visible in each frame.

The contrast in the subject is presented so smartly that one need to be very acute observant to be able to distinguish the light and shade but there is one indeed.

Congratulations to Bala and the whole crew for doing such a good job and looking forward to the next master piece from you guys. All the best.
