Nominees have been announced for The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards recognizing the best in daytime drama, lifestyle programs, and culinary series, among other categories. The winners of the 2023 Daytime Emmys will be revealed during a live broadcast on Friday, June 16th, airing on CBS. The ceremony will also stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

“Today we not only honor this year’s outstanding programs and individuals, we mark a milestone in television history. “General Hospital” is the most awarded series in Daytime Emmy history with 15 Best Drama Series victories to date, and the ABC serial is the top soap at the 2023 Daytime Emmys with 19 nominations including Best Drama. It’s followed by “The Bold and the Beautiful” with 14, “The Young and the Restless” with 13, and “Days of Our Lives” with 11. Beyond soap operas, the most nominated program is “The Kelly Clarkson Show” with 11. The winners will be announced on June 16 on CBS and on June 17 on the NATAS Ott channel at Watch.TheEmmys.TV. Updated with full list, 9 Am: Nominations for the 50th Daytime Emmy Awards began trickling in Tuesday night, but now we have the full list. ABC’s General Hospital leads the way with 19 noms, followed by fellow long-running soaps CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful (14) and The Young and the Restless (13) and NBC/Peacock’s Days of Our Lives (11). All also are vying for the marquee Daytime Drama Series prize.

The Kelly Clarkson Show leads the talk field with 11 noms, with fellow syndies The Drew Barrymore Show and freshman The Jennifer Hudson Show next with seven and six, respectively, all including Daytime Talk Series. Hudson didn’t make the cut for Daytime Program Host, though Wendy Williams’ successor Sherri Shepherd did, though her rookie show Sherri didn’t get a Daytime Talk Series nom.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 tied for best family movie at the 30th Annual Movieguide Awards, which honor “the best of family-friendly movies and television programs and spiritually uplifting entertainment.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power won the award for best mature audience television, and Resistance: 1942 won the award for best mature audience movies.

The honors also include the top award of the Grace Prizes for Most Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV, which are given to an actor or actress for the best performance in a movie or a television program. Candace Cameron Bure won the Grace for TV for A Christmas…Present, while Pat Boone won the Grace for movies for The Mulligan.

The Kairos Prize announced that Alice Bowden and David Hyde (Hope From the Ashes) were the winners of the 2022-23 scriptwriting competition that focuses exclusively on uplifting screenplays.

Top Gun: Maverick, Andor and Dolly Parton are among the nominees for the 30th annual Movieguide Awards, which honor “the best of family-friendly movies and television programs and spiritually uplifting entertainment.”

The Top Gun sequel will compete for best mature audience movie along with Father Stu: Reborn, Jurassic World: Dominion, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Uncharted.

Meanwhile, the five films up for best family movie are The Chosen Season 3: Episode 1 & 2, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

On the TV side, Andor will compete for best mature audience television along with Blood and Treasure, Blue Bloods, The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Ring and Styled With Love.

Country music stars also were represented on the TV side with Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas and Reba McEntire: My Chains Are Gone landing multiple noms.

Michelle Monaghan (and Michelle Monaghan) popped to the top of Nielsen’s latest U.S. ranking of streaming originals, while House of the Dragon debuted at No. 3… on a different chart.

Netflix’s twins thriller Echoes topped the streaming originals chart for the Week of Aug. 22 with 1.1 billion minutes viewed across seven total episodes. Stranger Things held steady at No, 2 with 890 million minutes viewed/34 episodes, followed by the leader from the previous two weeks, The Sandman (681 million minutes/11 episodes), Only Murders in the Building (578 million minutes/20 eligible episodes) and Locke & key (518 million minutes/28 episodes).

HBO’s House of the Dragon didn’t make Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week of Aug. 15-21 — but only because it was available for just a few hours before the weekly tally ended.

According to Nielsen, the Game of Thrones prequel racked up 327 million minutes of viewing time on HBO Max in the few hours after its 9 p.m. Et premiere Aug. 21. The streaming rankings measure viewing from Monday to Sunday, but even with that short a window, House of the Dragon nearly cracked the top 10 for the entire week: The No. 10 acquired series for Aug. 15-21 was the Canadian drama Heartland at 422 million minutes of viewing time.

(In future charts, House of the Dragon will be part of the acquired series rankings since Nielsen counts the show’s airing on the HBO cable channel as its first run.)

Netflix’s (still) yet-to-be-renewed The Sandman topped Nielsen’s U.S. ranking of streaming originals for a second straight week, amassing 946 million minutes viewed across 11 total episodes during the week of Aug. 15.

Netflix’s Stranger Things again placed second, with 919 million minutes viewed across 34 total episodes, followed by three more Netflix offerings: Never Have I Ever (rising three spots with 883 million minutes/30 episodes), Locke & Key (776 million minutes/28 episodes) and Untold (630 million minutes/seven episodes).

The Sandman became the top overall title on Nielsen’s streaming charts in its second week, and the acquired series rankings featured a rare occurrence of a show not on Netflix finishing first.

The acquired series honors for Aug. 8-14 went to Bluey, whose third season debuted on Disney+ the week of Aug. 8-14 and drove a big bump in viewing. The animated series had 917 million minutes of watch time for the week, well above the 300 million-400 million range typical of its previous appearances in the rankings. According to Nielsen, 58 percent of the show’s audience was made up of kids 11 and under.

This month, Netflix is serving up a documentary on the chaos of the ’99 Woodstock revival, Netflix’s take on “13: The Musical” and a juicy series expanding “Selling Sunset” into Orange County, California. Favorite returning Netflix series include “Never Have I Ever: Season 3,” “Queer Eye: Brazil” and the third season of “Locke and Key.”

As for library titles, the streaming service will add the “Spider-Man” trilogy, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Miss Congeniality” and “Space Jam,” as well as hallmarks of the beloved “Men in Black” and “Bridget Jones” series.

The two, who married in 2012 and welcomed a son, Arrow Fox, in 2021, are well known to Netflix viewers as the stars of Styling Hollywood, a reality series that focused on their design business Jsn Studio. The full-service collective space serves clients across fashion and design needs.

Bolden, named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Stylists for 2022 (and featured on the cover), maintains a roster of clients that includes Dwyane Wade, Michael B. Jordan, Yara Shahidi, Angelina Jolie, Cynthia Erivo, Trevor Noah and Serena Williams.
