Philip Seymour Hoffman was perhaps the most ambitious and admired American actor of his generation. Regardless of the film or play he performed in, it was impossible to not be moved by the characters he portrayed. He did not act, he seemed to become one with his roles. When Hoffman died of a drug overdose in 2014, the world was shocked.
