I made an account just to review this show. I couldn't believe the low rating? The other rating stated that teens flooded this with negative rating? It's very creative, imaginative and impressive. The attention to detail is on another level, the story lines are so fun!! And I can't get over how creative it is. The cloud factory? Amazing!! This kind of imagination is important for children and their development. Yes there are a lot of fun kids shows, but, not many that are this creative without being overly stimulating. Definitely a favorite in our household and happy to support in every way I can.
I first became aware of this show while watching some PBS a short while ago. I was getting a little bored watching some of the other channels so I thought I'd go back to my wholesome and educational and informational shows on the channel I grew up with when I was a wee one. And then I saw this one between some programs and it looked interesting. Everyone is based on a machine or some inanimate object but they all contribute to a good cause and make the most of the city (and the world) in which they live. Like most PBS shows, this one has tons of good messages and morals. Plus, it makes kids more aware of society and how it works. If you're new to PBS and enjoy talking objects, this might work for you. It's a welcome change from those talking animals.
This is a funny and educational kids show but I love the weird sense of humor. There are so many seemingly throw away jokes that I only notice after multiple listening. My kids love the show for whatever reason and I mostly end up listening to it. The episodes are short and it's in the PBS kids app so they can easily go through all the episodes on there and I end up hearing the same ones multiple times but I don't mind. The main character Watt is the perfect level of obnoxious yet sincere to where he's funny and his comments seem so random. I also just realized while watching a Make Some Noise clip that it's Kimia that does his voice.
I just wanted to shed some light on the low rating of this show. Unfortunately, it got review bombed by teenagers who were upset that it "copied" object shows (which are a popular animated genre on Youtube). Obviously, animation featuring talking objects have existed long before Youtube or City Island. As someone who worked on the production of the show I am clearly biased. But, City Island is a funny and inventive show with a very positive message for kids and in no way deserving the low rating it currently has listed here. And hey! The episodes are only three minutes long! So, watch a couple and judge for yourself.
