Alix Lambert’s The Woods Are Real, drawing on a similar formula, showcases its first quarter as a promising buildup for a potentially intriguing thriller set in the woodlands. However, soon enough, the effort to jam-pack too many issues into one single narrative starts showing its adverse effects, and as a result, by the end, the feature turns out to be too pretentious and convoluted for its own good.
