Like all good shows the quality dilutes the longer it goes on. But not to the extent that you should turn off.
It takes it's liberties with history but you invest in the characters and they keep you gripped more so than the narrative.
I fell in love with the show that much I purchased my own drinking horn. As the Vikings themselves say... "Skol!". Sit back and enjoy.
