Good teen/young adult series
jtgrogan25 April 2019
Keep in mind that this review is coming from an older guy, and this show was clearly made for people 10-15 years younger than me. However, I caught wind of it through my niece, and now I actually enjoy it myself. It's a teen show full of silly high school drama and relationship issues, but the characters are well developed and relatable at least on some level. The young actors are solid. Of course I do wish it was a bit more violent and intense, but it is a kid's show after all.

Bring Back Maddy!!!!
kschwarm0421 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I recently found this show after Netflix suggested it to me. It sat in my queue for months, but I finally started it last week. I sped through the first two seasons in just a matter of days. Its cute, and quirky; and I really like to see a show where teenage characters are actually played by teenage actors ... That being said, I am having a rough time finishing the third season that Netflix has streaming. After Maddy's family left, I feel like it was assumed they would be back. Then all the efforts made to make the town safe and to reach the Smith's in time. Then I thought maybe Rhydian will still go to Canada to bring them back, but I'm 6 episodes into this season & it's not looking like Maddy is even an issue; just a distant memory. I do like the other characters, and they are, each of them in their own right, important to the storyline, but this show is nothing without Maddy. I will definitely tune in to watch season 4, but only if Aimee Kelly comes back.

lead leaves after two series
SnoopyStyle27 January 2019
Maddy Smith and her family are hiding something living in a small English town. They are werewolves also known as Wolfblood. Not even her best friends Tom Okanawe and Shannon Kelly know although Shannon has been researching local legends of a beast in the woods. The three outcast friends have their school's photography club. She is taken with new kid Rhydian Morris. He's a foster kid who turns out to be another Wolfblood. The group is later joined by Jana who left her wild pack. The Smith family is driven out as Dr. Whitewood closes in on them at the end of series 2. Wolfblood-run corporation Segolia helps relocate the Smiths and they are written out of the show. Series 4 has wholesale changes with Jana taking the lead with new friend TJ and dim-witted Katrina as one of the few hold-overs. Series 5 has Jana and her friends dealing with the aftermath of revealing their secret to the world.

Who knows why Aimee Kelly left the show after series 2. It's terrific teen drama up until that point. Series 3 struggles a bit as Jana is given more material until she is given the lead. At the end of series 3, she has a great episode as the alpha of her wild pack. If series 4 had followed that episode, the show would be well served. It probably could have kept some more of the cast as the pack tries to integrate with the human world. Instead, the show chooses to press refresh on almost everything. Jana is a good character and Leona Vaughan does a terrific job taking over. I'm not convinced that the transition actually worked or was ever necessary. By coming out of the closet, the world becomes too big for the show. All the flaws in this fictional world are showing. This can't survive as a world wide supernatural show.

Best supernatural Wolf show on screen
LunaMercy29 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This show was created for kids and teens,

The show revolves around the two main characters Maddy and Rhydian who meet in the first episode. Both share the same secret, they are Wolfbloods. This means heightened senses, their hunger for meat and often the need to run until at a certain age they are able to shift into a wolf. Together they manage teenage life, which is complicated enough, and bond over their secret although they come from a different background.

What first attracted to me as an adult was the concept of the Wolfbloods, what made me love it even more is the fantastic writing. In one sentence: Best wolf show on screen. And I watch many shows that somehow have a wolf, no matter which definition, involved. So far no other show has been able to transfer wolf and pack behaviour to humans so naturally like Wolfblood. This is due to the fact that they portray natural wolfs - pack life/family life and not the Alpha/Omega hierarchy which only wolves in captivity show. The writing for me is exceptional! Very nice built up story lines, good balance, small detailed scenes which are referred to in later episodes without making it to complicated for a younger audience. Great supporting characters (and actors) which have their own subplots - which are all enjoyable and interesting to watch. Although the story does not make the bonding between Rhydian and Maddy easy - it is so refreshing and uncomplicated to watch them grow close. Their story is a sweet delight.

I wish Debbie Moon (creator and writer) could bring Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson books to screen.

It was my favorite show and now it is not
paryalotfi23 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say that I am 23 years of age and I understand the show was targeted to the youth but I fell in love. Everything from the characters to the scenery. I think what I most liked about the show was that it was simple and it wasn't trying to hard like all the other new series. But I have to say season four completely changed how I feel about the show. The series has turned into another overly fake and dramatic series. All the things that made me want to see more have disappeared because now it's just another show trying too hard. The simplicity has all gone. I still give the show 10/10 because it is definitely worth watching.

Warning: Spoilers
Scanning through Hulu I found this show. I really loved the first two seasons, the third season I was confused about the characters and had to search to find out what had happened.

*Spoilers* Losing a main character should have been devastating to the show but it managed to get through the season without the beloved character Maddy. My advise would have been to replace her with another actress, happens all the time. I am still watching the third season but have read that the fourth season lost the other 3 main characters - what a tragedy. There was so much potential with the main characters. This makes me sad. I don't know if I will continue based on the loss of all characters.

What happens to their clothes?
patloria10 April 2022
Enjoyable series, but what happens to their clothes when they transform? Otherwise, nice placement of the supernatural in the normal world of high school. Characters are believable and the special effects subtly done. Plot is interesting enough to keep you engaged.

New series disrupt the storyline
JohnsonDonsons4 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It's an amazing show, with amazing cast but the new series just doesn't seem to match the previous storyline, it's like a follow-up show. Season 1, 2 were brilliant and Season 3 was good but I was disappointed that Maddy wasn't brought back, but Season 4 was even more disappointing since most of the original cast were dropped, and new cast were brought in, who did great acting, but they didn't feel relevant to the storyline. On top of that, the story practically shifted from focusing on Wolfbloods, to focusing more specifically on Segolia and the government. You can understand that the show needed to be 'modernised' but they should've still kept Wolfbloods as a secret, and perhaps reintroduced/kept some members from the original cast, from the school. It also feels like, where in the beginning, Wolfbloods were superior and mystic, but it's moved onto them being inferior and a reason for divide. Season 4 and Season 5 are pretty correlated, as are Season 1 and 2 and to a lesser extent Season 3. But Series 1,2,3 are really different from Series 4 and 5.

Don't see a reason to watch Season 4
ninnks11 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I got really into Wolfblood for the first 2 seasons with Maddie and Rhydian. At then end of season 2 I was sad to see Maddie say goodbye to her friend because it wasn't safe anymore for them. Then going though season 3 and seeing Rhydian, tom and Shannon doing everything to make it safe for Maddie to come back and at the end of season 3 we see a peak of Maddie's wolf. The end. Then season 4 is all band new. No not okay ! Feels like i wasted my time watching season 3 for nothing.

Maddian is beautiful!!
tamaraaudeh16 October 2019
Absolutely LOVED Maddy and Rhydian's relationship through season 1-2. Season 1 and 2 are my absolute favorite ever! I was really sad that Aimee and Bobby left the show. Every little scene between Maddy and Rhydian is one i fell in love with. The way he's always so protective of her and looking after her is the cutest!!! And how she's always there for him too. I cried when she left. :( I would LOVE if they would bring back the main characters for season 6. Kind of like a reunion where they all fly to Canada to look for Maddy again. WOULD LOVE IT TBH!! <3

Why?
kerry-white7727 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS Maddy (Aimee) leaves after only 2 seasons to further her education with college. I got 3 episodes into season 3, and by everything that was happening and everything being said, I had to see for myself, if her character was coming back or not. And of course not.

I can't watch this show anymore, it hurts too much. I don't understand how or why it does, but it does. Not to mention, I also find out the other main characters leave as well after season 3. So why even watch? I can't waste my time like that, especially since it hurts and I keep longing for Maddy.

Her character could have easily came back and all, and the show would have continued and been as good if not better in the later seasons. That's what makes it worse. Why couldn't she had just waited a couple years to go to college? Finish this show and then get to that. Her leaving literally ruined the show, especially the future of it at least (seasons 3-5). Causing the other main actors to leave as well bc it just wasn't the same without her. I wish they made her sign a contract at the start, or that she just wanted to continue the series period.

Seasons
bunnyukiyo16 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really like the vibe and the scenery in seasons 1,2 and 3. The only problems I have with the show is 1. Maddy left and we never got to see her in season 3, except for the last video, and 2, The 4th and 5th seasons starts off entirely different. I think what should've happened was it could've continued the plot from Rhydian seeing Maddie, maybe all of them coming back from Canada, and getting back with Shannon and Tom. I was also really disappointed to see Shannon and Tom we're gone, as well as Carrie and Jana's pack. I'm not too fond of the city scenery too, I really like the wild wilderness feeling I was getting, so if you wanna watch this show, I recommend watching the 1st and 2nd season, maybe the 3rd season if you're watching it for the scenery and the vibe. Otherwise, wouldn't recommend watching the last two seasons unless you really like a dramatic change in plot.

Great

Warning: Spoilers
I am a young child and love Aimee Kelly and Bobby Lockwood they were meant to play 2 main roles together. I was fixed on it from the start I watched every episode of season 1 and 2. The last episode of season 2 made me cry at the end when Maddy left Rhydian for the wild. They are meant to be together the kiss was so passionate and you could believe that they loved each other My favorite episode was season 1 episode 6 'Maddy Cool!' it was great with all the dancing and yellow eyes. 10/10 when series 3 comes out I will be so happy I cant wait With Jana coming I thought it was controversial, dramatic and sad as you could see jana and Maddy both loved Rhydian and they were competing for him but Maddy eventually won when jana became leader of the wild pack

Excellent, at least at first.
brentstansfield9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I know this is an older show but I recently had the pleasure of watching it. The first 2 season's were excellent, everyone involved was great and it was a pleasure to watch, then the Smith's left, supposedly to find a new life in Canada. After that the lead actress was no longer involved, we don't really know what happened to them other than what was said by the person who relocated them. None of them are ever seen again. While the new actors all did a good job at filling the Smith's absence, the entire show changed direction. It went from a fun fantasy show to a horror/thriller and anything that could go wrong did. At the very least it would have been nice for the Smiths to return for a few episodes before the end of the show, but to no avail. I'm an older guy, but I still love shows like this though they are now few and far between, and the ones that do show up, like Vampire Academy, and WINX are not given the time to build an audience, most are cancelled on a cliffhanger. But if you like shows like this, at least catch the first two seasons, that's where they probably should have ended this show.

Why should Maddy and Rhydian leave?
ioannakil15 April 2020
This series was my favorite until the 2nd season. From then on, I was completely disappointed that the protagonist left, with whom we started the whole adventure, it was a big mistake and that's why I didn't see the seasons 4 and 5.

It was my favorite show
akilamatrix8 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Removing main character Maddy in season 3 brought no good for the show. Removing all main characters in season 4 is terrible mistake. Jana alone cannot run this show. Wolfblood was done after season 3. Please do not continue it as season 4, 5, 6. It is a shame for season 1, 2 and 3. I could be able to rate this TV series as 10 if there were no season 4, 5, and 6.

Good Writing Marred by Cast Issues
freys-3493322 January 2023
The writing and direction of this show is wonderful. The production team did a good job of writing a relatively mature plot while still making the show family-friendly. The acting is ok as well, considering the actors' relative inexperience. The only complaint about the production value is the low CGI quality.

However, the show had constant cast changes as the actors of main characters left the show one season after another, and the writers didn't have enough of a warning to properly write them off. I would've given it a 10/10 if the four main characters of the original series didn't quit the show early.

Cute Series
starshiplass19 January 2022
I'm an older adult who got hooked on the Twilight series as a younger adult. I decided to check this cute series out and quite enjoy it. I was amazed how many segments of the first season are right out of the first Twilight movie. Besides that, I like the fact that the series focuses on issues that teenagers have to deal with, school, parent problems, fitting in...

Good teen and Young adult series
wilkinsp-5280030 March 2021
If you like wolf shows then this is a good one. It is very entertaining if you really get into it. Although there is high school drama and relationships which most like this have. I sure do like this series and wish they were making more seasons but how knows if they might have some more in the future. I will be watching them! This is one of my favorite shows about wolves!!.
