Another legal drama is coming to our screens this summer, and this time, Jake Gyllenhaal is taking the lead.
While there's no shortage of legal and crime dramas, we certainly aren't going to complain about another series joining the roster.
As far as Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent goes, we're excited to see what this drama will bring us this summer.
Presumed Innocent Plot
Presumed Innocent follows Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal) as his life is turned upside down.
A promising Chicago prosecutor, he quickly finds himself on the other side of the legal system when he becomes the prime suspect in a case revolving around the murder of someone in his office.
The show follows Rusty Sabich as he does anything and everything he can to declare his innocence while keeping his family and friends safe from harm.

The world of Marvel Comics is huge, but so is the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And in the last few years, the MCU has expanded and grown into an even bigger entity than it was thanks to its Multiversal concept. Due to the Multiverse and time traveling, the MCU also brought two great characters back from the dead, i.e. Loki and Gamora.

Despite the shocking return of these two beloved characters, fans eagerly anticipate that it will potentially open the door for others to return. Yet it is essential to remember that not every fallen hero will rise again, since for some characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, their legacy matters more than fans’ desires.

It seems that not a single Gunn’s announcement related to the upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot can go without controversy. A while back, when Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl, the director was criticized for having an all-white main cast of the movie.
Now the most recent outrage is directed toward the cast being “D-List” in nature. Everything started with the announcement that Pruitt Taylor Vince will be cast as Jonathan Kent in the upcoming reboot with Neva Howell cast as Martha Kent, Superman’s adoptive human mother.
Even though both actors are established in their own right with medium-sized roles, none of them in the past has led blockbusters. His extensive television work includes appearances in popular series such as Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,...

It appears that every announcement about James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot sparks controversy. Some time ago, when Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl, the director faced criticism for assembling an all-white main cast (despite Supergirl not being a part of main cast…)

Brad Dourif has had an incredible acting career that stretches back more than fifty years – and back in the early days of that career, he even earned a “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” Oscar nomination for his performance in the 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Over a decade later, he started playing the role he is best known for, that of Charles Lee Ray, a.k.a. Chucky, a serial killer who uses voodoo to transfer his soul into the body of a doll. Dourif is now 74 years old, so when we hear that he has decided to retire from acting, it’s totally understandable… but while talking about his retirement, Dourif has also made sure to assure fans that his days of Chucky are not over. He will still continue to work on any Chucky projects that might come up.

According to The Wrap, Pruitt Taylor-Vince has been cast as Jonathan Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. I can’t say that’s who I expected to play Clark Kent’s adoptive human father in the movie, but I’ve always been a big fan of the actor, who has appeared in everything from The X-Files to Deadwood to The Walking Dead.
Pruitt Taylor-Vince will join the long line of actors who have brought Jonathan Kent to life in movies and television, including Glenn Ford in the original Superman movie, John Schneider in Smallville, Kevin Costner in Man of Steel, and many more. As I mentioned above, Taylor-Vince might not feel like the obvious choice for the role, but he’s a true talent and I hope fans give him a chance.

Unlike their golden run on the big screen till phase 3, Marvel didn’t quite replicate its huge success on the small screen, with most of the Disney Plus MCU shows earning less-than-stellar reception. While fans have complained about MCU’s recent catalog being bloated following the abundance of TV shows, Marvel has also abandoned an overwhelming number of TV shows over the years.
This involves several renowned superheroes, including a Captain Britain show, which was greenlit long before the rise of Disney Plus and MCU TV shows.

Back in 2016, rumors regarding a Captain Britain show being in the early stages of development emerged. Poster artist Clara McAvoy claimed she was being paid to do a promo poster for it, assuring fans an official announcement might be heading our way in early 2017 or late 2016. Unfortunately, it never happened, leading many to speculate Marvel might have put the kibosh on it.

Keanu Reeves stars as a potent new MCU antihero in a fan-made trailer. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
In a mesmerizing fan-made trailer, Keanu Reeves embodies Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider, stirring discussions about the Spirit of Vengeance possibly entering the MCU. First seen in a comic called Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972, Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, has amassed a loyal following, affiliating with teams such as the Avengers, Thunderbolts, and Midnight Sons. Though Robbie Reyes (another Ghost Rider with a different back story) cameoed in Agents of Shield, speculation swirls around Marvel Studios’ strategy for a renewed MCU depiction.
Fans have recently imagined Keanu Reeves as a popular choice to play Ghost Rider in the MCU. Reeves’ experience in action and superhero flicks makes him ideal for the role of Johnny Blaze ( a character previously portrayed by Nicholas Cage). A fan-made trailer, shared by K.H. Studio, showcases this vision of his debut adventure.

Last week, Max finally released the trailer for their much-anticipated The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, teeing up its fall release date. Overall, it looks highly reminiscent of Matt Reeves’ film, with the cinematography very much in the Grieg Fraser mode. But what else do we know about The Penguin? More than you may think.
The Penguin is set after The Batman.
The plot of The Penguin is set to follow the title character, once again portrayed by Colin Farrell, as he rises through the ranks of the Gotham City criminal underworld. After the events of The Batman and the flooding of Gotham, including the death of Carmine Falcone, Cobblepot desperately wants to fill the power vacuum. Colin Farrell has also indicated that the film will serve as an origin story for the Penguin, something we have seen twice on screen before in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito.

Tom Cruise’s new movie, Mission: Impossible 8, is in the process of being filmed, and the sequel to last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One promises to deliver us yet another action-packed installment. And while the release date has been pushed back a whole year, updates are coming in quickly, and we have learned that Katy O’Brian has joined the movie cast in an unspecified role, as of the time of writing.
This piece of information is definitely welcome, as O’Brian has recently received praise for playing Jackie in the romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding alongside Kristen Stewart, with Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris also starring. Disney and MCU fans might know O’Brian from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, appearing as Jetorra, but also from The Mandalorian, where O’Brien played the treacherous Elia Kane. Invincible Season 2 had a bunch of guest cameos from acclaimed voice actors, such as Peter Cullen, known for his work with Optimus Prime, being the voice of the coalition’s leader Thaddeus. There were also cameos from Shantel VanSanten (Becca from The Boys) as Anissa and Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant from CW’s Supergirl) as April Howsam. The show has another super-hero television alum in its ranks who is yet to make an appearance: Chloe Bennet (Quake from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

Being an integral part of the MCU following his beloved role as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. left fans grieving after he quit Marvel’s superhero genre to explore other opportunities. Bidding adieu to the franchise with Avengers: Endgame in 2019, Downey Jr. was never seen in any further Marvel projects.

Despite knowing his character’s fate in MCU, the actor had previously expressed his desire to appear in Joss Whedon’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Although Downey Jr’s appearance in the show could have impacted the MCU in a major way, he eventually didn’t make an appearance.

Since the Infinity Stones saga ended, Marvel has tried to expand the stories on the television screen. The MCU has flourished on the small screen, as it allows more room and time for character development.
The studio has found critical success, and the quality of the stories was not affected by the change. However, as several series came under the expanded universe of Marvel, Disney is still far from making one of their most beloved shows part of the current MCU timeline—Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

There are a bunch of DC projects coming up. Everyone’s excited about James Gunn’s DC Universe and his new ‘Creature Commandos’ & ‘Superman.’ But don’t forget about the Elseworlds projects, like ‘The Batman’ movie series, and other projects in the works like the upcoming ‘The Penguin’ show.
Last week, they dropped a teaser for ‘The Penguin’. It takes place a week after ‘The Batman’ and it’s all about Cobblepot making his way up in Gotham. Colin Farrell is coming back as ‘The Penguin’ – he got a lot of love for that role. In a recent interview, Farrell talked about what fans can expect from the show, and it doesn’t sound too pretty.
We wrapped it, man. We did it. Stuck a fork in it about two weeks ago. It was a long and really wonderful experience. And it’s dark, that’s what I can tell you about it.

Before Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” opened in theaters in March 2022, there was a lot of discussion online surrounding the movie’s rating. Many comic book fans were hoping to get the first Dark Knight movie with an R rating, but the film earned a PG-13 nonetheless. The universe of “The Batman” is expanding with the upcoming Max series “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell as Gotham City gangster Oswald Cobblepot. The actor recently told MovieZine that the series is “incredibly violent,” which should appease the “The Batman” fans who wanted an ultra-violent R-rated cut of the film.
“It was a long and really wonderful experience,” Farrell said about filming “The Penguin” series. “It’s dark; that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think— it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it.

Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter appeared in plenty of Marvel-based projects. She played the role of alternative Captain America most recently in ‘What If…?’ Season 2 and most of the episodes featured her to some extent. She also appeared in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ as an Avenger and a founding member of the Illuminati. In 2018, she fought in the Infinity War and helped defeat Thanos in the Battle of Titan. Later, she voted to execute Doctor Strange due to his use of the Darkhold, which led to a multiversal incursion.
Captain Carter also had her own show in pre-Disney+ days titled ‘Agent Carter’ which was pretty successful with the fans. Now in the most recent Q&a, Alex Perez confirmed that Captain Carter will still be a massive part of the Marvel Multiverse, as she will appear again in ‘What If…?’ Season 3 and apparently will play a role...

Will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. return with a new series? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s series experienced initial acclaim with productions such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, marking a significant journey into television in recent times. However, subsequent series exhibited a rapid descent into formulaic narratives, eliciting viewer fatigue towards Disney+ offerings. A notable shift emerged with the revelation to revive cherished pre-Disney+ era shows, notably X-Men: The Animated Series and Daredevil. These continuations, as evidenced by X-Men ’97 and Daredevil: Born Again, have reignited audience interest. Consequently, there exists a palpable sense of anticipation among audiences for the potential revival of another cherished Marvel Television program, named Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

A Marvel project has received the studio’s first perfect Rotten Tomatoes score since the launch of the MCU.
Disney+’s newly launched animated series X-Men ’97 has a very rare 100 percent “Fresh” rating.
While many of the reviewers are from more niche fan-focused sites than for a typical live-action show or feature film, the score nonetheless edges out Marvel’s other top-scored projects like 2022’s Ms. Marvel (98 percent), 2018’s Black Panther (96 percent), 2013’s Marvel’s Agents of Shield (95 percent) and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame (94 percent).
Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97, which premiered Wednesday, reboots 1992’s X-Men: The Animated Series. From the official descriptions: X-Men ’97 “revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.”

Colin Farrell returns to Gotham City as Oz Cobb, aka Oswald Cobblepot, in the trailer for “The Penguin,” a spinoff series of “The Batman” coming this fall to Max.
“The Penguin” takes place immediately following the events of DC’s 2022 blockbuster, tracing Cobblepot’s rise to power in the Gotham underworld as he becomes one of the most prominent villains in the “Batman” universe. Farrell gives a classic gangster monologue throughout the trailer, which slowly ramps up the violence and gunfights in Gotham City’s seedy underground.
“When I was a kid, there was a gangster, real old-school type. Rex Calabrese. He was a big deal. He helped people. He saw you on the street, he’d call out to you,” Cobblepot narrates in the trailer. “When I was 14 or something, he has a heart attack and dies, still holding a cigar. In my neighborhood, they throw a parade in his honor.

Exclusive: Filipino actress and singer Lovi Poe (Seasons) is joining Adam Beach (Windtalkers) in the untitled Paul Fullerton project produced and directed by Garry A. Brown (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
The movie, which is due to shoot in Dallas, Texas later this year, is based on the true story of Paul Fullerton (Beach), a decorated Native American fire captain whose life is turned upside down when a career-ending accident draws him into marijuana and a collision course with the local district attorney and his small group of rogue police.
In 2016, Fullerton and his wife Marie’s (Poe) home was raided by a multi-agency task force and the couple was unjustly accused of selling and distributing marijuana. Aspects of the case are still going through the court process today.
Brown, who is best known for producing and directing on multiple seasons of shows Prison Break and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will serve as the producer.

The debut of the ‘Echo’ show introduced several new elements to the MCU. It marked the first show to premiere under the Marvel Spotlight banner and the first character-focused R-rated series. Despite featuring a relatively unknown character, it gained moderate success. What truly stood out about ‘Echo’ was the decision by the showrunners to incorporate Netflix’s ‘The Defenders Saga’ into the official MCU timeline.
Indeed, this decision might create some plot inconsistencies that could be resolved in upcoming projects. However, it was necessary. Kingpin’s significant involvement in ‘Echo,’ along with his backstory, compelled the showrunners to integrate Netflix’s shows into the MCU timeline, despite their absence from prior Disney+ projects. Brad Winderbaum elaborated on this in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

The release of ‘Echo’ show brought several new things to the MCU. It was the first show to air under the Marvel Spotlight banner and the first character-driven R-rated show. Despite the relatively unknown character helming it, it achieved decent success. The most groundbreaking thing about ‘Echo’ was the fact that the showrunners were forced to canonize Netflix’s ‘The Defenders Saga’ and add it to the official MCU timeline.
Yes, doing this opened up some potential plotholes that will presumably be ironed out in future projects, but it had to be done. Kingpin played a massive role in ‘Echo’ and his backstory played a massive role, the showrunners had no choice but to add Netflix’s shows to the MCU Timeline despite not referencing them at all in prior Disney+ projects. Brad Winderbaum explained their train of thought in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

When Cobra Kai returns to Netflix for its sixth and final season, the Karate Kid spinoff plans to expand the Miyagiverse significantly. The teen-focused drama Crane kicked martial arts action fans in the face in 2018, building on the Karate Kid legacy started by Ralph Macchio (Daniel Larusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), and Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi). With every season, Cobra Kai has grown through fan-service casting, interpersonal drama, and hard-hitting action. No one could have predicted the Miyagiverse would expand the way it has because of Cobra Kai, and now the show’s co-creator, Jon Hurwitz, says fans can expect Season 6 to explore the franchise in exciting ways like never before!
In a thread on Twitter/X, Hurwitz assured fans the final season of the series delivers big surprises, in-depth character flashbacks, and plot elements that expand the Miyagiverse.
“Season 6 expands the ‘Karate Kid/Cobra Kai’ universe more than the first 5 seasons combined.

Since the release of ‘Echo,’ fans have received confirmation that ‘The Defenders’ Saga is part of the MCU canon, despite some inconsistencies with established lore. However, recent reports suggest that not all events from the saga will be acknowledged in the MCU, with some being ignored and certain characters being recast.
For years, there has been ongoing debate about Ghost Rider’s inclusion in the MCU. Robbie Reyes was introduced in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ played by Gabriel Luna, but his character departed in Season 4 Episode 22, the finale, as he went to dispose of Darkhold in Hell.
With rumors swirling about a standalone Ghost Rider project, notable leaker Daniel Richtman has confirmed that the Ghost Rider from the Defenders Saga won’t be the one featured in the MCU. Instead, it’s likely a different, more popular version of the character will be utilized, potentially with a new actor in the role.
