When the Denver Broncos draft Texas high school football star Darrent Williams in 2005, he stays loyal to his hometown and begins his professional football career with the Broncos. On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2006, Williams flies five school friends to Denver, Colorado for a party. Soon after midnight, on January 1, 2007, a vehicle pulled up beside Williams' rented Hummer H2 limousine in downtown Denver. Williams and two other passengers were shot. Williams was killed during this drive-by shooting at approximately 2:10 AM. The two other passengers injured in the shooting were both released from the hospital the day after. Nobody knows who killed Williams, or why.
