First thing first: this is great french cinema. If you like french comedy, you will love the movie, no matter what you think of the topic. And this is one of the greatest (but not the only) achievements of the movie. It gives you an easy, yet deep view of controversial social issues, partnership and unconditional love. It also gives you a short but thought-provoking insight of the trans world, make you ask questions and even gives you rather easy answers, if you are open to: acceptance.
You will laugh through the whole movie, and still think about how such situations would play out in your own world, family or country.
With respect to the hardships of trans people, it's a fun ride!

I really enjoyed this movie that is quite exceptional as there are few cases about trans men. The exceptional acting of all main roles makes such a hard situation look like a deadlock that only love and honesty can solve. I laughed many times and hd a wonderful moment watching this film. Really worth to be seen.
Fabrice Lucini is really great as a very hard conservative man that finally understand that a person is not only what we see but counts much more as a part of our live. Catherine Frot has nothing to prove anymore and so could rake the risk acting such a non conventional role with real success. I would have valued to have the trans coach to really be a trans person rather than an actress. The aides of the mayor and also the kids are really good and help to have some humour is the scenes.
