Characters' lacks of depth, and a bit disappointing.
23 January 2019 | by Aries0413See all my reviews

Although I'm easy to please when it comes to movie, this one didn't and I kind of understand the lower ratings. I'd not call it bad whatsoever, but knowing it's an Hallmark 'Hall Of Fame', I expected more from this movie. First of all, I really enjoy watching Julia Stiles, which plays Hannah. She's a really decent actress and she tends to play tough women - I like tough women because they're usually complex. It was no different in this movie BUT minus the complexity. She was not just tough for absolutely no reason, but also very unlikable. She was not likable in the beginning, nor was she likable at the end of the movie. Basically, she is unpleasant throughout, especially towards Elliot and yet, he still ends up 'falling in love' with her. How? I don't know. Also, I didn't really felt a connection between them, and it wasn't because of Elliot's character, who I thought was really sweet, but because Hannah was cold and both didn't display any kind of romantic interest. Basically, it was not really believable.

Only thing is, I would not define this movie as romantic, so if you wanna watch romance, this ain't for you. It's a movie about how passion, and perseverance can bring a whole lot of opportunities, and meaning to your life. Education can never be lost.
