Surprisingly Good

This one was surprisingly good.

If you're going to a movie with a hot blonde in a tight yellow dress on the poster - you better expect what such type of movies usually puts on the screen. You'll get your laughs.

Yet, Walk of Shame was so much more than just a slightly dirty comedy. It gave an insight to the life of LA area some might not realize there is. It showed how friendship is important and that total strangers are not necessarily wierdos and perverts.

And, of course, Meghan is a nice girl from Texas. That's great.

As a cat lover, I was mildly surprised to the problem that Banks' character has. So strange. I have the same problem with some dogs, so no big deal!

"When a crackhead gives you his crack, you have his heart right there."
utgard1415 June 2014
Elizabeth Banks plays a local reporter who has a chance to move up to the big time but that's largely dependent on her making it to an interview. The problem is while she was having a one-night stand with bartender James Marsden, her car was towed, and now she's stranded in downtown LA with no car, no money, and no phone.

I really looked forward to this. I like Elizabeth Banks and it looked promising. The early parts aren't that funny but once the plot kicks in and she has to find her way out of "the hood," it picks up. It reminded me somewhat of After Hours or maybe even Adventures of Babysitting. Banks is very good, as well as being particularly hot in this. The supporting cast is really what makes it work. Kevin Nealon is fun as a weirdo helicopter reporter. Bill Burr and Ethan Suplee are great as a couple of clueless cops. But the highlight for me was the trio of Pookie (Alphonso McAuley), Hulk (Da'Vone McDonald), and Scrilla (Bob from Walking Dead). I don't want to spoil too much about their scenes but all three are terrific, especially McAuley who talks like a Fat Albert character come to life.

This is a funny comedy with a generally pleasant tone that I liked. Yeah it's somewhat predictable and formulaic but no one's trying to reinvent the wheel here. It's a good way to spend an hour and a half. One little thing I wanted to mention because when it happened in the movie, I had to roll my eyes a bit. James Marsden's bartender character is revealed to not just be a bartender but also a writer. Why is it that movies always do that? Someone can't be JUST a bartender or a waitress or a mechanic -- they always have to be something more "respectable" on the side or they are aspiring to be something like that. Just once I would like one of these movies to feature a working-class character who is happy with their life and does not want to go to law school or own the company or become a big movie star. Because ultimately what they are saying is that Marsden is not good enough for Banks if he is just a bartender, which is shallow and sad.

Surprisingly Good
nonprofitgnome120 May 2014
With the slew of "get drunk, end up in bad situation" movies that have flooded the industry, it was hard to get excited for this movie. I enjoy Elizabeth Banks and the trailers did seem funny. I just couldn't help but have that feeling of "been there done that". And that feeling is valid but it doesn't mean that the movie was bad, in fact, I quite enjoyed it.

The plot plays out like any number of movies in the genre. Main character gets drunk, wakes up in a bad situation and has to try and retrace their steps to get from point A to point B (point B often being supremely important). While the plot was predictable, it's what happens between point A and point B that matters.

Despite the number of movies similar, the director was still able to find some uniquely funny scenes to put Banks' character in. Some scenes that come to mind are an impound lot and a crack house. While not all scenes hit the mark, there was enough here to be worth a viewing. I also found the running gag about Banks' characters profession to be extremely funny.

So what make this seemingly mediocre film worth viewing? Two things in my opinion. Firstly, this is the first movie of this type where I actually felt for the character. I wanted her to get where she wanted to go and that kept me involved in the movie. Secondly, I appreciate the fact that we can have a movie like this without relying on extremely rude and crude scenes. Yes, there is profanity and some implied sex but in comparison to other films with similar plots (Hangover), this movie is tame. But that doesn't mean it's not funny as I feel it is able to remain funny throughout.

If you into movies like the Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine, or Bridesmaids, then this is a must watch. If you love comedies then this is also a good bet. It may not end p being a movie you need to own but you can do much much worse than giving this movie a shot.

.. in fact the dress deserves casting credit
bjarias30 September 2014
No matter what else is said.. the movie officially begins at the eleven minute mark when she puts on that 'can't hardly describe it' yellow dress. From that point on, it is the honest reason why you're staying watching this movie. Overall the film is cute, and has a chuckle or two (some scenes are in fact very funny).. but it's that dress sticking in your mind keeps you watching. That and the perfect hair... that's 'wanna own up to it or not' is the essence of this film. You'll watch all the rest, and not very long after will not easily remember any of it. But should the vision of that dress come back to mind, it'll bring back much more than you thought you'd ever recall.

Grils Night out
kosmasp4 February 2015
You know how it is: Strange things happen when you least expect them. But this is of course more like a female (tweaked) version of Hangover. The situations occurring here are a crude mix of what might have happened to someone on many different nights. Elizabeth Banks is a good sport, having to endure and go through a lot. If you want to see one, there's also a message about strong women here (which is not a bad thing at all, considering the stereotypes we get to see here).

Clichés and jokes may not always mix well, but the passion of the actors involved (even if James Marsden is merely a bystander in this one as are most of the other in the Banks show on display) do help the movie to elevate above other comedies. Not much, but at least a little bit. Obviously comedy/humor is not something that will be viewed the same by everyone. Tastes are different and this might not be your movie to watch

Pretty raunchy but also pretty funny.
planktonrules2 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Walk of shame is not exactly an original sort of comedy. A recent phenomenon (one I don't quite understand) is the raunchy 'let's get drunk and do stupid things and go on wild adventures' genre. Folks have gone nuts for things like The Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine and Bridesmaids—and so Walk of Shame is certainly not unique in the least. However, despite being a nasty, raunchy and occasionally offensive film, it did manage to make me laugh and is a bit better than the films I just mentioned (although, since I don't like the genre, it really isn't saying much). I am not proud of myself for enjoying this film but I did.

Elizabeth Banks stars as Meghan, a not supremely talented news anchor in Los Angeles who is in the running for a big network anchor position. However, she's learned she ALMOST got it but the network execs chose someone else. To help her get over her disappointment, her two trashy friends take her out for a night on the town—to get her drunk and to forget about her problems. Does the idea sound familiar?! Well, this turns into a one-night stand with a bartender (James Marsden) and at this point I was really NOT impressed. So far, I'd seen a lot of boorish behavior and none of it was very funny. However, it DID get better. When Meghan awakens from this revelry, she finds she's in his apartment—and she has no idea exactly where this is. To make things a LOT worse, when she quickly leaves, she finds her car has been towed….and it has her purse and phone in it. And…she's wearing her friend's yellow dress…and it is a VERY slutty looking dress. So, she's stranded in a part of town she's unfamiliar with, she has no money, no i.d. and is dressed like a 'professional woman'. Well…no problem. She'll just hail a cab, get her car and pay the cabbie and go home. However, the cabbie takes her to a horrible part of town and refuses to drive her further because she cannot pay—and threatens to shoot her! She escapes…and a long series of crazy events take place. How crazy? See the film.

I think the reason this film worked for me was that although it was offensive (needlessly offensive at times), the characters and situations Meghan found herself in were very funny. Of all of these, I think I enjoyed her meeting up with three nice crack-heads, Hulk, Pookie (I LOVED Pookie!!) and Scrilla. But there were many more crazy people and situations that made me chuckle—and they came almost non-stop. I also appreciated how again and again, little things throughout the film came back during the course of the film. So, a seemingly innocent occurrence later becomes a HUGE and totally unexpected disaster due to clever writing.

Now my review is NOT saying the film is without problems. The writing, while clever, is very crude—and it's a shame as this easily could have been a film you could let your kids see. I think it's simply the filmmakers trying to keep up with the raunchy levels we've seen recently. However, a similar picture where one little bad decision leads to similar funny situations is Date Night—and it managed to be a film for all ages and audiences. The bottom line is that this is NOT a film for you to watch with your kids, your mother or your pastor! And, if you will easily be offended, by all means watch Date Night or some other movie instead. But it is, even with its problems, worth seeing.

One of the Funniest Comedies Recently Released
claudio_carvalho20 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
In Los Angeles, the journalist Meghan Miles (Elizabeth Banks) is disputing the anchor position of a TV network with another candidate. Megan is a calm woman from Texas that has just broken with her boyfriend. Her friends Rose (Gillian Jacobs) and Denise (Sarah Wright) come to her house to celebrate her new job, but she learns that the other candidate has won the position. However her friends convince her to go to a night-club to drink to forget the deception and she wears a sexy yellow dress. She gets drunk and a stranger called Gordon (James Marsden) offers to drive her home, but she prefers to go to his apartment and they have one night stand. When she wakes up, she finds a message in her cellular from a friend telling that she had been selected for the anchor position and her friend advises her to rest since her audition will be on the next day. Meghan leaves Gordon's apartment and finds that her car has been towed away with her purse. Further, the door of the building is locked and she does not know the number of the apartment where Gordon lives. So she decides to take a cab to retrieve her car, but the driver is a foreigner and misunderstands the tow place and she ends alone without money in the red zone downtown LA. Meghan sees a police car but the officers are douchebag and believe she is a prostitute. Meghan stumbles with drug dealers that try to help her but she only gets in trouble during the long night.

"Walk of Shame" is one of the funniest comedies recently released. The gorgeous and sexy Elizabeth Banks is a great comedian and she is fantastic in the role of a woman that only wants to take her car back. The story recalls the storyline of "After Hours" and is a great entertainment for a Friday evening after working for one week. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "A Minha Casa Caiu" ("My House Felt Down" – literally, but meaning "my life is destroyed")

I really liked it

Warning: Spoilers
I'm sure you've all experienced that feeling where you hear about a film and are convinced that there is nothing it could possibly offer, not even after watching the trailer. Do you know the feeling though when you're positivity surprised? It doesn't happen too often right? Well this film is a perfect example of that. It's rear but it happens. The first bad omen was the director: Steven Brill, who was known thus far for directing 2 Adam Sandler films, that let's admit were just plain bad. Mr. Deeds was horrible and Little Nicky would still have been the same even without a director. Oh and he wrote the scripts. It's been 7 years since he's made a film so he's had time to work on a good film. The other bad omen was that the studio, probably for monetary reasons only opened the film in select theaters and sent it straight to VOD… Knowing the people playing in the film, this could only mean one thing… they didn't trust in its success and if they didn't why would we right? Let's talk a bit about the story… Megan Miles the news anchor for KZL is up for a big promotion to go national. She goes to the interview where she does well and she has a good chance at the job so all seems to be going well for our little star… well no. She gets home to find that her fiancée has packed up his stuff (half the furniture in the apartment) and moved out and her agent calls to tell her she didn't get the job either. Her friends arrive to pull her from her pity party and get her to go out drinking with them. On a whim she decides to get rip roaring drunk and ends up going home with the bartender. The always cute James Marsden. When she wakes up in the wee hours of the morning while trying to book it from the strangers apartment, she can't find her phone so she uses his to listen to her messages and finds out she may still have a chance at the job if she can do today's news cast without a hitch. Of course this isn't as easy as it sounds 'cause to be lost in quote un quote hood of Los Angeles with no car, no phone and no money and get downtown to the studio is not easy but all the more funny. Walk of Shame isn't a new concept. We've seen films like this before but that's not a bad thing. Hollywood right now is chocked full with the spirit of remakes right now. Despite that this film really works cause the devil is in the details. It works for two reasons. The actors and especially Elisabeth Banks and the well written script, but I still have to say none of them are perfect. Some of the actors like the girlfriends are downright annoying and the script has some plot holes but all in all its pretty entertaining.

The biggest problem is that the films arc is a downward slope. From the first news segments to Megan's first escape from the cops we are drawn in and laughing and keep doing so as we meet her new friends in the hood… but somewhere around the middle of the film the humor starts to dry up and we reach totally drought by the end of the film. Even if the story wasn't the most original it only really caused a problem at the end of the film, where it was just really typical, but by then I was at least entertained for a while. It was a surprisingly okay, even if not a to original comedy. It was definitely a positive experience to finally see a film without fart or shitting in sinks and bathtubs jokes, without Melissa McCarthy and Adam Sandler. I think this type of comedy is better, while being a lot less disgusting. I was surprisingly entertained so I give it a 7/10. https://www.youtube.com/user/silverscreenreviews1

Offensively unfunny.
lnvicta9 May 2015
I love Elizabeth Banks. She's one of my favorite comedic actresses and I was happy to see that she got a starring role in a comedy. Well technically she was a lead in Zack & Miri but in this movie it's all about The Elizabeth Banks Show. Literally. She plays a news reporter who spends a night out with friends, gets a little too drunk, goes home with some guy, then the next morning when she leaves to go to work she realizes that she left her phone in the apartment, finds out her car was towed, and of course that she left her purse in the car. So basically it's a walk of shame since everything goes horribly wrong for her and she has to get to work on time because some news execs are looking at her for a promotion or something. Let me just say I did not laugh once throughout this movie. I chuckled at a couple parts sure, but it was at stupid things like Bill Burr as a policeman telling a guy to drop his cookies, or Bill Burr calling a kid an asshole. Burr gets all of the good lines in the script basically - him and Kevin Nealon who barely gets 5 minutes of screen time.

Seriously, this is bottom-of-the-barrel humor. It's basically "hey look at that girl, she's totally hopeless and a lot of sh*t is happening to her." But yeah, that's not funny, and after a while you just start to feel bad for her. I mean, everyone in this movie is SO stupid. The police in this film are probably the dumbest in any movie ever, and they're usually pretty stupid in movies so that's saying something. I know it's a nitpick but holy crap there are so many things wrong with this movie. It's borderline offensive at times, like everyone thinks she's a hooker because she's wearing a dress and no matter how many times she denies it they still treat her like one. It's just uncomfortable to watch. And the dialogue is horrendous. Whoever wrote this movie needs to be arrested because it is just mind-numbingly awful. Some scenes left me like "wait... what was the joke? was that really it?" Every character in this movie is incredibly stupid. Frustratingly so. None of it is believable. Not one word coming out of anyone's mouth holds any merit. It's a garbage script and this should not have been green-lit. Seriously. Awful.

I have to give it a 2/10 for Elizabeth Banks. If nothing else, this movie proved that Banks can carry a movie as a likable leading woman. She was kind of typecast as the trashy girl, but the hot sexy kind of trashy, but still trashy. But here she's a good girl with a good job who gets dragged out to a bar with her friends and things just go wrong. She's a great actress and she's the only reason I kept watching this movie. She is gorgeous. She glows on screen, literally. She's in a bright yellow dress. She does what she can with the script but there's just nothing for her to do. It just isn't funny, and it's not her fault at all, or any of the cast for that matter. There are so many funny people in the supporting cast whose talent is wasted here. And James Marsden, what are you doing man? It's a filler character, a generic romcom lead, but with a lot less screen time. Everything in this movie has been done before, all of it is generic, all of it is filler, none of it should've been put on screen.

This movie made me feel bad for Elizabeth Banks, and I hope she scores a good script that can actually put her comedic talent to use. This was just a disaster. Horrendous film. The writers need to take a walk of shame right out of Hollywood.

Really good comedy with a great cast.
Bruce72217 August 2014
This movie was much better than I thought it would be. Elizabeth Banks is hilarious but I was concerned with whether or not she could carry a comedy by herself. Well in this film she didn't have to because the supporting cast around her was absolutely amazing and the hilarity of each moment in the film's plot progression was just great. James Marsden, Gillian Jacobs, and Sarah Wright were all fantastic and then factor in the comedic genius of Bill Burr and Alphonso McAuley and the cast was just fantastic from top to bottom. Is this raunchy comedy going to be for everyone? No, it's not. It's more of a guy's style comedy film with a female lead, which is probably why it didn't kill it in the box office or why the closed minded critics didn't understand it. That being said, if you have enjoyed previous Elizabeth Banks films, you'll certainly get some quality laughs here.

A generic storyline and a wasted cast
matic-boh123 June 2014
The fact that the trailer which shows the most entertaining moments can perhaps be considered the film's strongest asset speaks volumes, as Walk of Shame comes across as a failed comedy with a tedious and overfamiliar storyline, one that focuses on a series of mishaps endured by an anchorwoman portrayed Elizabeth Banks. Although amusing at times, offering some funny and quotable lines, the film relies too heavily on its lead actress, as Banks' charm and appeal is what ultimately keeps the audience engaged. Sadly it is a typical and highly generic story told in a non-refreshing way, which hurts the comedic potential of the talented cast that was at the film's disposal. Along with the fact that it unnecessarily relies on an abundance of comedic stereotypes, Walk of Shame fails to produce any real excitement, and can be regarded as nothing more than an unfunny, mediocre and extremely formulaic comedy.

ALMOST HANG OVER!
pawanpunjabithewriter14 February 2021
To my delightful surprise, this movie proved to be one of the finest comedies I've come across in recent years. It had me laughing like never before, a refreshing experience after a long time. Meghan Miles delivered an outstanding performance, undoubtedly the best character in the movie. The pookie guy's hilarious accent served as the cornerstone of the comedy, leaving a lasting impression. The movie's humorous moments revolving around the crack house and pot were nothing short of a laugh riot. Yet, despite its comedic brilliance, the film remains highly underrated.

I find myself craving more movies of this caliber that can evoke such genuine laughter. This hidden gem deserves greater recognition and appreciation. It's a must-watch for anyone seeking a hearty dose of laughter and an unforgettable comedic experience.

Walk away and save yourself the shame!
iraz2 May 2014
This film starts out strong with funny news clips and goes downhill after the first 30 minutes. I really like Elizabeth Banks and find her to be a very talented actress. This proves once again that talented actors alone do not a good film make. So much depends on the writing and script and in this case the poor writing and overdone script ideas sink this way before the end.

Since Ms. Banks does not have much to work with she's without a paddle here. The film becomes tedious about halfway through.

I saw people mention the similarity to "After Hours", but that film had a creative energy and didn't follow a normal "plot". This film lacks anything creative and is a by the numbers comedy.

The real shame is that this was made!

Honestly a pretty good time
aprilsfriendorin5 November 2021
This movie is far from a masterpiece. It's pretty corny at times, and also has a couple of racist moments that are just glossed over. But ultimately, I enjoyed it. While some parts are hard to believe, watching the main character wind up in bizarre situations was entertaining enough. If you're looking for a chill comedy and don't have Oscar level standards, give it a shot.

Funny, enjoyable and refreshingly adult
Paynebyname26 July 2016
I watched this for a simple mid week film and was thoroughly entertained.

Banks was fun and likable, the situations that she got into and the characters that she met were funny but most of all I liked that the film wasn't trying to preach about how adults should be admonished for having casual sex.

Banks had some good chemistry with Marsden, she was prepared to have fun and she maintained her independence and dignity. You see a fair share of films where you feel they have to empower the women by bludgeoning you over the head with their right on attitudes.

Yet here was a girl who had a crazy night, had some wild sex with a good guy and wasn't going to feel guilty about it.

Props to her and props to the filmmakers for railing against the notion that having some carefree fun and sex needs to be prudishly frowned upon.

The Most Hilarious Movie in 2014 So Far
kupukupumu5 May 2014
Personally, this has been a Banks week for me. Purely a weird coincident. Two nights ago, I had Man on Ledge which has Banks in it, last night I had Catching Fire with Banks in it, this eve I just watched Walk of Shame with Banks in it and tomorrow I plan to have Lego Movie with Banks in it. If it is not a cosmic level weird, not sure what is. I am not a fan of Banks. Not even familiar with her movies before.

Now, not much can be told about the Walk of Shame, other than this is pure gold comedy. And I am usually not a big fan of this genre.

The Good

The laughter starts from the first minute of this movie. There is no slapstick scene here. No forced humor, each scenes just flows naturally. The main antagonist, the female reporter, is just who she is going through the scenes. She does not even try to be funny which brings all the laughter.

The Bad

Not sure if there is a negative here for this is a comedy movie with common moral message: Just be your(good)self.

Overall

See this movie and you will feel much better after it. Maybe not fair, but cannot give it a ten since this is a light comedy movie, but totally recommend this as pure entertainment to cheer up the long day.

Funny but generic. Worth watching when you just want to relax and zone out. The scene with the drug dealers is great.
cosmo_tiger15 June 2014
"I'm never doing shots again." Meghan Miles (Banks) is having a bad day. First she finds out the promotion she is trying for was given to someone else. When she goes home she finds her boyfriend has moved out and taken most of the stuff. Her friends show up to take her out and cheer her up. Meghan decides to leave early but gets stuck (literally) and meets Gordon (Marsden). The two wind up at his place for the night. When she gets a call the next morning informing her that she still has a chance at the job she is excited and heads home to change. On the way she has to deal with drug dealers (the best part), cops, kids, religious temples, an impound lot and the carpacolypse. This is a funny movie and I am glad I watched it but really it is kind of generic. Sometimes though it is nice to watch something that you don't have to think about and this is one of those movies that fits that description. Almost right away you know how the movie will end and you do stay one step ahead the entire time but you still laugh and enjoy yourself as you watch. There really isn't a whole lot to say about this other then it is a good time and it is nice to watch a mindless comedy every once in a while. Overall, funny but generic. Worth watching when you just want to relax and zone out. I give it a B.

There was an overall comedic sense, however was not enough to make this movie stand out.
nicolechan91616 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I admit that there were parts where it was pretty funny, particularly when she was lost and trying to find her way back and by watching the trailer, it does look really promising and really funny. However having watched the film, there were parts that felt really standard and monotone at times. And just pretty predictable. Plus, it was also quite cringe-worthy, maybe it was just me but I felt that a lot of the scenes were pretty cheesy.

I understand that it's hard to come up with completely unpredictable plots, but I feel that the story cut too much from here to there. Like one event would end, then it would die down for awhile, then pick back up again. Maybe it was that movement of events, moving from funny to calm and then repeating again and again, that I disliked.

However, I do love Elizabeth Banks as an actress. She really makes her character come to life and I feel that the supporting cast was barely needed. Well obviously they were needed, and they did add some comedic effect to the film, but it was mainly Banks who did a fantastic job. And as much as I love James Marsden, his character was so shallow and useless that I kind of dislike him in this. OK, I get that he was needed to be that one night stand guy, but it was just so…eye roll worthy when they got together.

And then there's the ending. No offense to anyone (seriously) but I've noticed this kind of Western mentality where they believe that it is their right to not have anything bad happen to them. It just feels like complaining to me, when at the end she goes on about what happened that day and how she's not ashamed. Like OK, whatever. Maybe I'm too heartless, but I felt that the ending made the movie a lot less enjoyable as a whole.

Uneven, but pretty good
screenwriter-972-14961220 February 2021
Elizabeth Banks does comedy well. Dialogue, reaction shots and physical comedy are all in her wheelhouse. Good thing she's up for it because landed on her shoulders and she carried it off. The story line is right out of the keystone cops. Updated for modern times, our Perils of Pauline heroine needn't be rescued. In fact, no one will even offer to help for most of the film. That's when Banks shines. Interactions with all manner of people on the fringes of society show her to be as vulnerable as they are...and it's all for laughs. Her scenes in the crack house (yes, you read the correctly) are particularly hilarious. Look for her face to face with Tig Natro too. Another bit of comedy happiness. Truth be told, some vignettes go nowhere. The cops in the squad car bits could have been eliminated for instance. But, overall this is a fun time in the hands of a skilled actress who can certainly pass for a comedian until someone better comes along.

Shallow and Ridiculous Situations

This is one of the worst pieces of trash passed off as cinema yet. The characters are shallow and stereotypical. Women can't control themselves, guys are rapists and black people sell and do crack. Its sexist and racist all rolled into one really bad film. Don't waste your time.

This review is probably going to get a lot of thumbs down but before you judge my taste in movies please just go and watch it again. Yes it's flimsy and stupid even but it's perfectly entertaining and very snappy. No scene drags on too long for the audience to get bored. There are cringe worthy moments but those add to the overall craziness. When I watched it originally, I was not writing reviews frequently. However I didn't dislike the movie. Recently, someone showed me that the critics rating on this movie was dismal. Couldn't agree with that because its a pretty funny film and quite similar to After Hours. So I had to watch it again.

It was clear to me the first time that Walk of Shame was not iconic nor brilliant but it was memorable. It requires quite a bit of suspension of disbelief but it is evident that the movie is not trying to find any answers to life. After watching it again I say it's still a damn entertaining movie and that's about it! For those trying to read meanings into Meghan's unexpected nightly adventures are just not getting the point. There's no spiritual quest here. It's just a really bad day (night) for the prudent girl. From that stand point its all too fun to watch. She meets some hilarious characters, goes through a series of unfortunate events, finds kindness among most unusual people while gets totally judged by 'normal' ones. It's ironic and funny and absurd. Maybe not as edgy as Scorsese's After Hours but it's a fair update to the situation. Also, Banks is just gorgeous. She does some gross stuff in this movie to deserve a few laughs! Don't hate it just because it's a star vehicle. What's wrong with that?

This movie is a perfect goof off that friends love to watch together on sleepovers or when you stay in and chill on weekends. There are some good laughs in there and some guilty pleasure. It has two awesome comedians Bill Burr and Tig Notaro doing just the most inconsiderate things to the poor protagonist and that adds to the hilarity. My hunch is that this movie will gain popularity with time. Whether it does or not, 12% on Rotten Tomatoes is definitely not what it deserves.

Trite and Absurd Beyond Belief

Warning: Spoilers
I had hoped Liz Banks after Zack and Miri, would turn in another comic gem.But Walk of Shame is another film where the obvious solution somehow eludes the protagonist and just becomes infuriating with its mind numbing stupidity.

An absurd attempt at modern day slapstick, here we have a TV anchor, a person who is supposed to be an expert in communication and yet she can't tell anyone, even moronic cops that she needs help, she needs a ride. She can't even call her TV station newsroom...she wanders night and day through L.A. trying to find her car that has been towed away, when she should simply trying to get home or to work.

And how long should that take? She begins her journey in early morning and it's afternoon and she never seems get anywhere. I hate to say this because I think Banks is a super hot looking actress, with a great personality. But this was a bad choice of a contrived script. Oh, and James Marsden is wasted in an unrewarding support role.

Oh, and one other thing, as a news anchor Banks needs some coaching. Her voice is too light and lacks authority.

NO PHONE, NO CAR, NO ID

Warning: Spoilers
Meghan (Elizabeth Banks) is our Jenny McCarthy Barbie doll who reads the news. She is down on her luck, so her girlfriends dress her up and take her out for a good time. Through a series of circumstances, Meaghan, finds herself in LA in the wrong part of town. Her asking for help is seen as solicitation for prostitution as she constantly ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The film had some light moments, but as a comedy it falls flat. There is a lack of originality and delivery. Elizabeth Banks is easy on the eye, but comedy is not her strong suit. The groans far outweigh the laughs. The humor maturity level is aimed at a PG-13 audience, but too many f-bombs make it an "R." I think most of us could have composed a funnier "Walk of Shame."
