Hot Guys with Guns (2013)

Not Rated | | Action, Comedy, Romance | 7 April 2014 (USA)

If you can imagine Lethal Weapon with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as younger, hotter ex-boyfriends, you'll have the basis for Hot Guys With Guns, a modern take on the old-fashioned detective story. It's Chinatown meets Boystown.

Danny Lohman and Patrick Armstrong - nicknamed Pip - are gay, one time lovers, and recovered best friends from their romantic split living in Los Angeles. Danny is a struggling actor who supplements his income by waiting tables. He is taking a private detective class taught by former PI Jimmy Peppicelli solely as research for a role on a television crime drama for which he has an audition. Well-connected Pip lives off his wealthy, overbearing, substance indulging and off-kilter mother Patricia, in whose house he lives in a separate wing all his own. Like Patricia, Pip is a narcissist who is all about self pleasure. He has convinced himself that he has long been on the search for Mr. Right, but in reality seems content to settle for Mr. Right Now, that role currently filled by actor/model Robin, who potentially wants to be Pip's Mr. Right but is aware that he will eventually be tossed aside like all the others in Pip's life. Pip is also not averse to more than one Mr. Right Now at any ... Written by Huggo

gay who dunnit... pretty good.
6 September 2019 | by ksf-2See all my reviews

A fun story from Doug Spearman. a who-dunnit, with a great crowd of hot guys. Stars Marc Samuel and Brian McArdle. Starts out like an episode of Archer, with the overbearing, silly, rich, drunk mother. All kinds of swearing, and lots of bare, hot guy butts, so not for the kiddies. but it is a fun caper. the cast is good, the acting is mostly good. the story itself kind of meanders all over, like a gay remington steele, but just go along for the ride. This goes back and forth, from being a comedy to a more serious but lightweight drama. pokes fun at hollyweird, as well as bond films (at least in the opening credits...). Written and directed by Doug Spearman (noah's arc, old dogs new tricks). Good fun stuff. surprised at the low ratings... its fun if you don't take it too seriously.
