The Island of the Night Fury
24 July 2014 | by Alex_HodgkinsonSee all my reviews

It's another annual day on Berk, Bork Day. This day celebrates Bork, a man who was dedicated to researching dragons. This year, dragons are expected to put on a show for the Vikings of Berk, which reminds Hiccup that Toothless is the last of his kind, and so gets into a rather sad mood. Not only that, but apparently his father, Stoick, is looking for him and seems serious. But, luckily for Hiccup, Stoick has decided to donate all of Bork's research to him and the Dragon Academy, in which Hiccup finds something that could change everything; information on an island full of Night Furies.

I know I shouldn't do, but I always hold high expectations for finales. Luckily, this time I got a great one. In this one, we have Hiccup and Toothless's friendship at its best, with them two talking to each other (sort of) and Hiccup spending the entire episode encouraging Toothless and being hopeful for Toothless's future. The episode also has Toothless being extremely adorable, much like in the film. That's one of the major things I look for; Toothless being adorable and rolling on his back or calling back to Hiccup for reassurance.

'We Are Family: Part 1' also has two of the three antagonists introduced to us, preparing us for the second part of this great story. So again, not the perfect episode, but very close. I'm surprised that this episode doesn't have a higher rating, as it left me felt with a few emotions and wanting the next one.
