‘Good Boys’ Surprises Box Office With Best Original Comedy Opening of 2019
A great August for Universal continues this weekend with the release of “Good Boys,” an R-rated comedy that is surprising at the box office with an estimated $20.8 million opening from 3,204 screens. That will make the Seth Rogen-produced raunchfest the first R-rated comedy to top the charts since “The Boss” in April 2016.

On Friday, “Good Boys” earned $8.3 million and did well with audiences, earning a B+ on CinemaScore to go with its 79% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics. The film had been projected for a modest $11-12 million opening this weekend, but will now continue Universal’s streak of comedies like “Night School,” “Girls Trip” and “Blockers” as solid, mid-budget successes at a time when so many adult comedies have failed to take off in theaters.

Moody First Photo Of Daniel Radcliffe In Guns Akimbo Debuts

While they’ll forever be remembered for their roles in the ever-popular Harry Potter film series, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have all moved on from the famous franchise, and branched out in terms of their careers and acting gigs. While Grint is perhaps the least busy of the three, Watson returned to stardom with her work in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast and Radcliffe has continued acting thanks to plenty of appearances in indie movies, with a few more notable films sprinkled in for good measure.

His latest project is Guns Akimbo, an action comedy movie that seems to heavily lean into the idea of a battle royale, most made famous by The Hunger Games, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and, of course, the Japanese film that lent its name to the genre. Directed by Jason Lei Howden, the movie sees Radcliffe taking on the role of Miles,

Robert Schwentke is directing with Brian Goldner producing. Project is being written by Beauty and the Beast scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos.

The most recent edition of G.I. Joe is inspired by the 1980s Hasbro toys which had an ancillary life in a TV series and Marvel published comic-book. Snake Eyes is special mercenary on the G.I. In the comic-book (a plotline that was adapted into the movies), we learn that Snake eyes is the brother of Storm Shadow, his arch rival who works for G.I. Joe’s main enemy, Cobra.

Variety had the news about Golding. The G.I. Joe franchise across a 2009 and 2013 sequel has grossed

Disney’s Silver Age Films, Ranked

Disney has been bringing its feature films to life since 1937, and every movie drives the company closer to a new era.

You might have heard of the Disney Renaissance before, which refers to the animated films released between 1989 and 1999 including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Tarzan. What you might not have realized is that this isn’t the only Disney age.

Before the Disney Renaissance struck there was The Golden Age, The Wartime Era, and then — The Silver Age.

Also referred to as the Silver Era or the Restoration Age, this timeframe of movies lasted from approximately 1950 to 1967. It came after The Wartime Era, in which Disney had to deal with lower budgets and fewer workers. A few years after World War II though, Disney returned to big-budget films and filled them with soft colors, gorgeous animations, and magical stories. Thus, the Silver Age was born.

From ‘Schindler’s List’ to ‘A Hidden Life,’ the Unsung Hero of Awards-Season Trailers Is Mark Woollen

If you have an easy movie, the ones where the trailers practically edit themselves, that probably isn’t a Mark Woollen trailer. Woollen is the guy they call when the movies are more idiosyncratic, or their creators are, or both; the ones where the three-act structure may not be visible to the naked eye, or it’s hard to explain exactly what they’re about, but damn if they don’t make you feel something. But how can you see feelings, and in two minutes or less? What kind of marketing is that?

“I don’t know what marketing is,” said Woollen from the Santa Monica offices of Mark Woollen & Associates, where he employs a staff of 30. “I’m trying to represent the film. Filmmakers come to us in a vulnerable place. Sometimes we’re the first eyes seeing the first rough cut of film they’ve been working on for years.

Little Women Trailer: Greta Gerwig's All-Star Take on a Literary Classic

Sony Pictures has finally released the first trailer for Little Women. This serves as Greta Gerwig's directorial follow-up to 2017's Lady Bird, which almost instantly puts this in the Oscar conversation on that point alone. Yet, we also have a new take on some truly treasured source material, in addition to a truly impressive ensemble cast.

The trailer kicks off by painting a picture of the special bond shared between the sisters at the heart of the story. We also get a strong sense for Jo, played by Saoirse Ronan, who is a progressive woman in her time, doing her best to make her own way in the world, despite being told that's not the way things work. Dramatic tension is built as relationships begin to form. The key takeaways here are how stunning and lush the movie looks, as it's clear Sony was willing to spend some money

Disney Exploring a Sequel to Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Movie

Disney Exploring a Sequel to Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Movie
Disney ain't ever had a friend like money, as the studio eyes a sequel to Guy Ritchie's live-action Aladdin just a few weeks after the remake flew over the billion-dollar mark. This astronomical number easily marks Aladdin as the second highest-grossing live-action remake in Disney's catalog, with Bill Condon's Beauty and the Beast taking the top spot and Jon Favreau's The Lion King taking no spots because that's an animated movie. So it's no surprise, really, that a sequel may be on the horizon. Nothing is officially in the …

Lion King Remake Is Disney's Biggest Hit That Isn't Marvel or Star Wars

Lion King Remake Is Disney's Biggest Hit That Isn't Marvel or Star Wars
The Lion King is now officially Disney's biggest original hit ever at the box office. Original in that it isn't officially based on any existing intellectual property, such as the Marvel movies or anything from the Star Wars franchise. Granted, there remains intense debate as to whether or not Disney ripped off Kimba the White Lion, but since The Lion King isn't officially based on that particular cartoon, legally speaking, it's original. With what it brought in over the weekend, the movie has now taken its rightful place as king.

Over the weekend, the Jon Favreau-directed remake of The Lion King earned an additional $20 million at the domestic box office. It's total now stands at $473 million domestically and $861 million abroad, bringing its grand total to a mind-numbing $1.33 billion. That is especially staggering when factoring in the movie has been in theaters for less than a month. Either way,
