When Sophie asks for a telephone in Aunt Vanessa's house, she is directed to the study, in the back. Later on, a telephone is right by the door, three or four feet away from where Sophie was when she asked for it.

On several occasions, Stanley makes derisive references to how well or how badly Sophie can predict the future. She never claimed she could predict the future. Her demonstrated skills involve the past, like knowing impossible-to-know facts about people she has barely met and contacting deceased relatives. Before Stanley met Sophie, Brice said "She can predict the future."

When Aunt Vanessa gets out of the hospital, she and Stanley have a serious conversation that makes Stanley realize he is in love with Sophie. In that scene, Stanley's tie knot has the stripes in a certain position. He immediately drives to meet Sophie and declare his love for her, and the stripes in his tie's knot are in a completely different position. When he drives back to his aunt's house, the stripes are in a third position.

When the candle levitates during the first séance, Howard grabs it out of the air, and there is an audible snap as the string breaks free. The string then swings toward the camera, revealed as it catches a glow from the flame.
