James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown is getting its German premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on Friday night, and its Oscar-nominated star Timothée Chalamet is in town to present the film.
Speaking during the movie’s press conference earlier in the day, Chalamet was asked multiple times by the audience what he took from Bob Dylan’s subtle lyrical activism and his ability to separate his art and public persona from becoming overwhelmed by personal political stances.
Chalamet drew comparisons between Dylan’s subtle political messages and those of Dune writer Frank Herbert: “Be wary of cult-like figures,” would be his takeaway from both men, he said, adding that that is a sensible philosophy.
“I won’t speak for him [Bob Dylan] because he’s alive and well in Malibu, but my interpretation is just be wary of any savior-like figures,” Chalamet said.

Melissa Gilbert is 100% behind Netflix’s upcoming Little House on the Prairie reboot.
On Jan. 29, the streamer announced it was working on a new TV series based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic series of children’s novels. The books were first adapted for the beloved 1970s-80s TV show Little House on the Prairie, which starred Gilbert as Laura.

The news that a new Little House series was in the works was greeted with skepticism in some quarters. Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly took to X to declare that if Netflix tried to “wokeify” the show she would make it her “singular mission to absolutely ruin your project.”

“Nosferatu,” “Wicked” and “Conclave” have won the feature film awards at the Costume Designers Guild Awards, which were handed out on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
“Conclave” won in the Excellence in Contemporary Film category, “Wicked” won in Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film and “Nosferatu” won in Excellence in Period Film, the CDG category that most closely corresponds to the Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
In the last 15 years, one of the winners at the CDG Awards has gone on to win the Oscar for Best Costume Design nine times, with the guild’s period film winner taking six of those awards and the sci-fi/fantasy winner taking three. Only once in that period, with “Little Women” in 2020, has the Oscar winner not been a CDG nominee.
All three CDG winners are nominated for the costume-design Oscar, along with “A Complete Unknown” and “Gladiator II.”

Dressed to the nines and ready to shine, the 2025 Costume Designers Guild Awards (Cdga) rolled out their vibrant carpet on Thursday in Los Angeles. The ceremony celebrated outstanding achievements in costume design across film, television, short-form, and costume illustration. Among the glittering nominees were four of the five Oscar contenders for Best Costume Design: Conclave, Gladiator II, Nosferatu, and Wicked. Notably absent from the Cdga list was the Academy Award-nominated A Complete Unknown.
The four Oscar nominees were split between three categories, avoiding a direct clash prior to the 2025 Oscars on March 2. Conclave prevailed in Contemporary against co-nominees Challengers, Emilia Pérez, The Fall Guy, and The Substance. In Fantasy, winner Wicked was up against Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Borderlands, Dune: Part Two, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The only two Oscar nominees to face off were Gladiator II and Nosferatu in Period, the latter of which prevailed, with the other contenders being The Book of Clarence,...

Timothee Chalamet has quickly emerged as one of the more unique Hollywood leading men in recent years. With his lanky frame, brooding vigor and deeply felt sensitivity, the young man has become one of the most notable stars of his generation. His career began in TV movies and series, with recurring roles on such shows as Homeland and Royal Pains. He made his film debut in the Jason Reitman film Men, Women & Children in a relatively minor part. Those smaller roles continued through 2016 in films like Interstellar and The Adderall Diaries, playing younger versions of principal characters.
While Chalamet had a handful of substantial roles in indie movies, like 2016’s Miss Julie, everything changed the following year with the release of Call Me by Your Name. The actor’s sensitive portrayal of a 17-year-old finding his first great love garnered universal praise and landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

TV’s original Laura Ingalls is speaking out about Netflix’s plans to reboot Little House on the Prairie.
In an interview with EW, Melissa Gilbert, aka the Laura in the long-running NBC series from 1974-1984, said, “there’s room in the Little House universe for all different kinds of stories to be told, just like there was always room in the Little Women universe to keep retelling that story.”
“These are classic stories, and no one’s done it where they hewed to the books completely,” Gilbert said. “[The original] was Michael Landon’s interpretation, and now it’s time for someone else’s interpretation. And I think there’s plenty of room for that. And I think there’s a lot of other stories to mine beyond that. So I think this opens the door in a lot of ways for all kinds of Little House on the Prairie projects.

When Emma Watson Denied Fifty Shades (Photo Credit – Facebook/JioCinema)
Emma Watson has always been known for her intelligent, boundary-pushing roles—as the brainy Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series or as the feminist icon in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. After conquering the wizarding world, she transitioned seamlessly into projects like The Bling Ring and Little Women, constantly evolving her career with thought-provoking and inspiring performances.
But despite her broad range, Emma Watson has never been one to shy away from setting the record straight regarding controversial roles. One of the most iconic moments was when she publicly trashed the idea of playing the lead in the notorious Fifty Shades of Grey. Turns out, even for Emma, there are some lines she’s just not willing to cross.

For the second time in the 78-year history of the Cannes Film Festival, a female jury president will be followed by another female jury president. In 2024, “Barbie” and “Little Women” director Greta Gerwig presided over a jury that rewarded films such as “Anora,” “Emilia Perez,” and “The Seed of the Sacred Fig.” In 2025, that responsibility will go to French actress and Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche.

Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet has added extra weight to his case for Best Actor, revealing that he gained 20 pounds to play Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
“I’ve turned over every stone. I did all the work, like you just described, physicality, behavior-wise,” Chalamet said in a recent interview with NPR. “But something we haven’t really talked about, I also put on 20 pounds because, believe it or not, I was thinner than the guy.”

Timothée Chalamet learned to play guitar and sing like Bob Dylan for “A Complete Unknown.” He also gained 20 pounds to look more like the folk music legend, he revealed an interview with NPR.

Timothée Chalamet returns to Saturday Night Live this week to host for the second time. He brings along a new Oscar nomination for A Complete Unknown as well as an impressive net worth.
Chalamet, 29, first hosted in December 2020. It came between the release of Little Women and Dune, two of the biggest projects on the actor's resume.
His second turn in 2025, set for January 25, arrives when Chalamet is only a bigger star in Hollywood. And with that rising trajectory comes an equally growing net worth.
Timothée Chalamet's net worth stands at an estimated $25 million in 2025 (per CelebrityNetWorth). That puts him in the ballpark of other SNL season 50 hosts like Bill Burr and Martin Short, and trailing stars such as Ariana Grande, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.

Timothée Chalamet may only be 29 years old, but he's been acting since he was child thanks to short film and commercial gigs.

While Little Women has been adapted numerous times, Greta Gerwig's refreshing 2019 iteration is seen as one of the best, and a large part of that is thanks to Florence Pugh's unique portrayal of Amy March. The classic American novel was written by Louisa May Alcott in the late 1860s, with Little Women centering around the four young March sisters as they come of age during the Civil War. Most readers embrace Jo, the second-eldest sister with the fiery temper and dreams of becoming a writer, as the true heroine, with youngest sister Amy being universally reviled in the fandom.
Amy March isn't the only element Gerwig changed in her beloved Little Women adaptation. Along with Pugh, the Little Women cast, including previous Gerwig collaborators Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalament, breathed new, refreshing life into this 2019 version. Rather than telling the story chronologically, as Alcott does in her book,...

Netflix and Imax have struck a deal with Imax to release Greta Gerwig’s Narnia exclusively worldwide for two weeks in 2026 prior to debuting on the platform.

Netflix has partnered with Imax for a global release of Greta Gerwig’s Narnia two weeks ahead of the film’s streaming debut.
Narnia, based on the Chronicles of Narnia book series by C.S. Lewis, is currently set for an Imax release on Thanksgiving Day 2026, before a debut on Netflix during the Christmas period that year. The landmark deal is a win for Imax, which partners with Netflix as it seeks another limited, promotional theatrical run for one of its movie titles.
With Narnia, the two week exclusive window for Imax was crucial to establishing a long enough run to satisfy theater circuits that operate Imax auditoriums. As part of the agreement, Netflix has a four-week window for the film before the Netflix debut, but the film technologies company for now is committed to playing Narnia exclusively for two weeks starting on Thanksgiving 2026.
Netflix acquired the film and TV rights to the C.

Netflix has approved a limited theatrical run for Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Chronicles of Narnia adaptation. The film will open in IMAX on November 26, 2026 for an exclusive period before premiering on the streaming platform on December 25, 2026.
The deal between Netflix and IMAX allows Narnia to screen internationally for two weeks. To take advantage of the window, the movie will be released in around 1,000 theaters across 90 countries. It will mark the largest theatrical release yet for the streaming platform, which rarely screens films in theaters. In 2022, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery...

Greta Gerwig has leveraged her “Barbie” star power to convince Netflix to give her the big, broad theatrical release she wanted for “Narnia,” her adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ fantasy series.
After months of negotiations, Imax announced that “Narnia” will be released exclusively on its screens worldwide for two weeks in advance of the film’s debut on Netflix. “Narnia” is currently slated to open in Imax on Thanksgiving Day 2026. It will premiere on Netflix at Christmas of the same year.
The Imax launch is a rarity for the streamer, which does grant limited, Oscar-qualifying theatrical releases for its awards hopefuls like “Emilia Perez” and “Maria,” but mostly prefers to have its movies, particularly the more broadly commercial ones, debut on its platform. There have been exceptions. In 2022, for example, Netflix allowed: “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” to have an exclusive one-week run in more than 600 venues, its widest-ever theatrical release.

Due to worries about how it depicts the Vietnam War, Vietnamese officials are currently reviewing the second season of Netflix’s “Squid Game.” Because of this scrutiny, people in the country have called for viewers to stop watching.
The problem starts with a scene in the fifth episode where a character talks about how his father served in the military during the Vietnam War. Some viewers see this conversation as praising South Korea’s role in the war.
Vietnam’s Cinema Department has stated that it is looking into whether the show breaks national film rules. “If it turns out that the series violates regulations, we will handle the matter by the law,” the department said in a statement.
In the controversial scene, the main character, Gi-hun, talks to another contestant, Dae-ho, who Kang Ha-neul plays. When Dae-ho says that his father served in the Vietnam War, Gi-hun says that...

My Old Ass was just as much a coming-of-age for Maisy Stella as it was for her character.
Stella hadn’t acted since the musical drama Nashville wrapped when she was 14 years old, and while she continued to put herself on tape, the universe kept the then-teenager on the sidelines until Megan Park’s comedy-drama came along at 18. In hindsight, Stella realizes how valuable it was for her to enjoy those four years of being a teenage student. After all, she’d had a whirlwind childhood alongside her older sister, Lennon. Together, they not only co-starred on Nashville, but they also performed as a country music duo, highlighted by a direct ode to Taylor Swift at the 2013 CMA Awards. (Stella would also later find out that her 7-year-old self’s cover of Missy Higgins’ “Secret” was an influence on a young Billie Eilish.)

The National Theatre production of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” starring Ncuti Gatwa, has unveiled a trailer ahead of its cinema release on Feb. 20.

While Younger was just a little TV series that started on TV Land, it blew up to become hugely popular thanks to the pretty stellar Younger cast. Florence Pugh has never been afraid to go to extremes for films, whether it’s shaving her head for “We Live in Time” or going nude in her Oscar-nominated role in “Oppenheimer.” But the actress says she would never go as far as she did in Aria Aster’s 2019 horror film, “Midsommar. “
“There have been some roles where I’ve given too much and I’ve been broken for a long while afterwards. Like when I did ‘Midsommar,’ I definitely felt like I abused myself in the places that I got myself to go,” Pugh said, speaking on the most recent episode of the “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast.
“I don’t think I’d be able to do this without going there all the way and putting myself in all of those characters that I’ve played. There’s always a piece of me,” the actress said on a...

Florence Pugh said during a recent interview on the “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast (via People) that she is not likely to do a role like “Midsommar” again because she feels like she abused herself while playing the film’s protagonist Dani, a grief-stricken American woman who has a psychological breakdown when she joins her toxic boyfriend on a trip to a Swedish midsummer festival. Pugh said she’s “learned how to” protect herself as an actor over the years, and part of that is knowing when you just can’t do a role again.

After proving her mettle as a talented performer in films like Lady Macbeth, Midsommar, and Little Women, Pugh was propelled to the mainstream with 2024’s Dune: Part Two and Black Widow. The actress, however, did continue to pursue more artistic works like We Live In Time.
Pugh will be next seen in the MCU film Thunderbolts*, which will reportedly net her an incredible eight-figure payday. After appearing in Black Widow and Hawkeye, she is set to return to the role of Yelena Belova and will join a host of other characters. Pugh’s growth since her indie days is an inspiring journey.

Dune and Dune: Part Two director Denis Villeneuve has stated that he has no intention of helming any more movies in the franchise after his planned Dune: Messiah adaptation, but that doesn't mean Warner Bros. will stop making them!
According to scooper Daniel Richtman (and backed up by a report from World of Reel), the studio is planning to move forward with at least one more Dune movie and a second TV series.
HBO's Dune: Prophecy was not as acclaimed as the films, but it reportedly did pretty well from a viewership standpoint.
The first two movies were big successes, but a fourth chapter would still be somewhat surprising given the direction Frank Herbert's saga goes in after the second book. Villeneuve has shown little interest in adapting the later novels, Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune, as he feels the story starts to become too "esoteric.

Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet were all set to appear in Barbie? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around what could have been. Imagine it: Greta Gerwig’s magical Barbie Land, complete with those two breaking the fourth wall in their usual quirky, unmatchable way. Could it really get any better than that?
As a ride-or-die Greta Gerwig fan (and we know you are too), I had high hopes for a surprise cameo or two. The Barbie cast was already stacked—Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, and Simu Liu, to name a few—but my mind couldn’t help but wander to the idea of Saoirse and Timothée popping up in their usual Greta Gerwig movie magic style. If you’re a fan of their past team-ups (Lady Bird and Little Women), you know their on-screen chemistry is pure gold. Saoirse as Jo March?...

In 1976, Brian De Palma mounted the first film adaptation of a Stephen King novel with "Carrie." This was long before the author was a household name, so there was no noticeable hue and cry over the alterations the filmmaker made to the narrative. Even if some literalists did throw a fit over the film not being an overly-faithful recreation of King's original story, most fans of the book to this day will tell you that De Palma and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen served up with admirable concision a movie that is enthrallingly true in spirit to the tragic journey of Carrie White.
It might be hard for many to imagine someone making a better movie out of "Carrie" than a filmmaking legend like De Palma, but there's always room for different interpretations of a great novel. After all, there are multiple classic adaptations of Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women...

Following the recent trend of biopics based on prominent figures in the music industry, A Complete Unknown tells the story of iconic singer/songwriter Bob Dylan, offering a dramatic, music-driven look at the beloved performer's life. The film is directed by James Mangold, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker who also directed Walk the Line, the 2005 biopic about Johnny Cash. Although it was only recently released, A Complete Unknown has already made quite a splash, securing multiple nominations at the upcoming Golden Globes.
Of course, being a biopic, most of the characters in A Complete Unknown are based on other real people, not just Dylan himself. The film takes a deep dive into what the music industry was like in the 1960s, offering presentations of numerous major figures, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes. For those curious about whom the Bob Dylan film decides to portray, these are all the people...

Barbie is officially on Netflix, and the movie is a great reminder to watch couple Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach's first project together. Released in theaters in 2023, over a year later, Barbie has landed on Netflix's Top 10 Chart in the U.S. The film is a cultural phenomenon, reigniting nostalgic childhoods and beloved memories everywhere while tackling the complicated cultural perception of the iconic doll. Barbie has an epic cast of characters: led by Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and America Ferrera, the film became so successful that Mattel now has 45 movies in development based on their toys.
Gerwig and Baumbach co-wrote the Barbie script, while Gerwig directed it. However, this movie is not the first time Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have made a movie together. In fact, Gerwig and Baumbach's first film collaboration was the independent comedy-drama movie, Frances Ha. Frances Ha might seem entirely different from Barbie at first glance.
