Lera Abova made quite a buzz when her role in the One Piece live-action was announced. The news spotlighted her previous roles in various films and showcased her diversity as an actor. From Anna to Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, she has dabbled in various genres of movies.
Other than that, Abova has modelled for Gucci, Ysl, Dior, Chanel, and Prada. She is a multitalented artist. When it comes to acting, though, it seems she has luck on her side. Her recent thriller movie Extraterritorial has topped the charts, but hold up! It dethroned a movie starring a top-shelf actor.
Tom Hardy’s Havoc was surpassed by the thriller movie, and it is an impressive feat. The trailer seemed so promising, and so did Abova’s acting, which makes one thing certain. Her role in the upcoming One Piece live-action is highly favorable for the franchise, and here’s why.

Turn back the calendar to December 2017. Matthew "Kaz" Firpo and Ryan Firpo's script Ruin was awarded the No. 1 spot on The Black List, which is Hollywood’s annual tribute to the year’s collection of top screenplays which have not yet been produced. At that time, over seven years ago, the Dceu’s Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, was already in talks to star in the historical drama. Today, it’s been confirmed that Gadot will indeed team up with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Matthias Schoenaerts in the story written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, both of whom penned the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s lackluster Eternals (2021).
Justin Kurzel was originally slated to direct the World War II flick, but the film is now being helmed by Niki Caro. Gadot also serves as a producer on the project via Pilot Wave Motion Pictures, while Caro will be tasked with producing...

Kharmel Cochrane, the casting director behind Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Emily Brontë's beloved Wuthering Heights, has defended the controversial decision to assign the film's leading roles to Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, who will play Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, respectively, after news of their involvement drew significant criticism from literary enthusiasts. According to Cochrane, there is no "need to be accurate" with details such as the characters' appearances, since the source materialis "just a book."
During a recent Q&a session at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland, attended by Deadline, Cochrane said, at the height of the backlash, she encountered "one Instagram comment that said the casting director should be shot" in reference to Robbie and Elordi headlining the upcoming Wuthering Heights movie. However, she encouraged fans of the gothic romance novel to not be too hasty in their judgment of the silver screen's star-crossed lovers. She...

The lavish Wuthering Heights adaption with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi has run into some significant trouble. Many people have said that Robbie and Elordi are not right for the roles of Cathy and Heathcliff.
Now, the film's casting director has spoken out. Kharmel Cochrane talked about the controversy during a Q&a at the Sands International Film Festival of St. Andrews, and unfortunately she just added fuel to the flames. "There's definitely going to be some English lit fans that are not going to be happy," she said, via Entertainment Weekly.
But the issue there is - English lit fans are the exact sort of audience the movie is trying to attract. Fans of Wuthering Heights are extremely protective of it, and admittedly in this case they might have gone a bit too far - Cochrane recollected seeing a message about the movie saying "the casting director should be shot.

Where are all the race-swap warriors now? Margot Robbie is all set to star along with Jacob Elordi in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The literary classic has been adapted and has loosely inspired several works across the world, with Fennell’s adaptation being the latest.
Elordi’s casting as the racially ambiguous Heathcliff has stirred controversy. The book has described Heathcliff as dark-skinned, and he has largely been associated with East Asian races. However, Elordi’s casting is just one in the long line of whitewashing the character. The casting director does not seem to be bothered and had a terrible excuse for the casting.

Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie are starring as the beloved characters Heathcliff and Catherine in Emerald Fennell‘s upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
But some fans issued criticism of casting for both of these stars in these roles. Margot, who is 34 years old, is portraying Catherine, who is said to be 18 years old during Emily Brontë‘s novel. In addition, some are questioning the casting of Jacob, 27, as Heathcliff, who is described in the book directly as “dark-skinned.”
Casting director Kharmel Cochrane is responding to the criticism.

“Wuthering Heights” fans are already up in arms over Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of the Emily Brontë novel.
Controversy ensued when the two “Wuthering Heights” leads were first announced, with Jacob Elordi reuniting with his “Saltburn” writer/director to play Heathcliff and Margot Robbie (who produced Fennell’s prior two films through her LuckyChap banner) as Catherine. Was Robbie too old to play teen Catherine? Was Elordi the wrong casting for a character described in the novel as being “dark-skinned gipsy in aspect”? Add in the historically inaccurate wedding gown that Robbie wears in a first look at the film, and it seemed for some that the Brontë adaptation skewed from its source.
Now, “Wuthering Heights” casting director Kharmel Cochrane is defending her picks — and warning audiences that future reveals could social media into even more of a tizzy.

In the last five years or so, Jacob Elordi has established himself as one of Hollywood's brightest new (male) talents. It's a wonder that Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza didn't cast him in their recent film Warfare. But perhaps he was occupied; Elordi is currently working on the long-awaited third season of HBO's Euphoria, but did you know that a fix for his fans is available right at this moment? He's headlining the Prime Video series The Narrow Road to the Deep North, which debuted on April 18 to incredible reviews, but doesn't seem to have made much of a noise.
In fact, the show hasn't even hit Prime Video's domestic top 10 charts in the last three days, according to data collated by FlixPatrol. That being said, it's finding an audience in Elordi's home country of Australia. The Narrow Road to the Deep North has been averaging between 15 and 30 "points" on FlixPatrol this past week,...

Nosferatu casting director Kharmel Cochrane recently revealed that she didn't initially have faith in the film's star, Lily-Rose Depp. Cochrane said Depp's audition proved her wrong.
Cochrane opened up about how she changed her mind regarding Depp's acting abilities during a Q&a session at Scotland's Sands Film Festival, Deadline reports. "I had said absolutely no way to Lily-Rose Depp," Cochrane revealed when talking about the casting process behind Robert Eggers' hit Gothic horror film. "I didn’t think she could act. I hadn’t seen anything that I thought showed she could act."
She also made it clear that Depp proved her entirely wrong when auditioning for the role. "And then she auditioned. I was wrong. And I’ve got no shame in saying if I’m not right." Cochrane also added that she's made amends with the actress, saying: "I had to text Lily-Rose Depp and say I'm sorry.

Four years before Tom Hardy was boasting his lavish, long locks as Heathcliff in ITV's 2009 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, the period drama was showcasing one of its best global theatrical exports as Joe Wright's Pride & Prejudice dominated the box office and became one of the 2005's 25 highest-grossing movies internationally. Starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as the iconic Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, Pride & Prejudice 2005 is perhaps the most famous of the modern adaptations, although, according to a rumor that has swirled for years, it almost looked entirely different.
According to the whispers among Jane Austen and period drama fans, Macfadyen's role as Mr Darcy was almost instead given to Tom Hardy, with the actor's career, although just getting started, already showing the signs of the major leading man that would soon arrive. However, in a recent interview with the Thin Blue Paw Foundation, the man...

“I had to text Lily-Rose Depp and say I’m sorry,” casting director Kharmel Cochrane explained this afternoon during a Q&a session at Scotland’s Sands Film Festival.
The apology was on account of Cochrane dismissing Lily-Rose Depp as a serious contender for a leading role in Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu. The vampire remake is one of the many buzzy titles Cochrane has cast in recent years. Her other credits include Saltburn, Rye Lane, and Bob Marley: One Love.
“I had said absolutely no way to Lily-Rose Depp,” Cochrane continued, breaking down the Nosferatu casting process.
“I didn’t think she could act. I hadn’t seen anything that I thought showed she could act. And I’m not even bothered by the nepotism thing. I think that’s a whole other conversation. And then she auditioned. I was wrong. And I’ve got no shame in saying if I’m not right.

Teen star Owen Cooper could be about to make Emmy history for his breakthrough role as Jamie Miller in the British crime drama Adolescence. The series was met with critical acclaim for its writing, directing, and the raw, moving performances from its cast when it premiered on Netflix in March and now Variety reports that Cooper, who is 15 years old, will be submitted for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, making him the youngest ever actor to be nominated in this category in the award show's 76-year history.
Cooper is reportedly an early frontrunner in this year's Supporting Actor in a Limited Series race at the Emmys, and if he wins, he will surpass current record-holder Scott Jacoby (who was 16 years of age when he beat out the competition for his role in the 1973 TV movie That Certain Summer) as the youngest actor to take home a statuette in this respective category.

You never know where your decisions might take you, but for Margot Robbie, they took her straight to Hollywood domination. Before she began ruling the entertainment industry with her portrayals of Harley Quinn, Barbie, and more, Margot Robbie got herself a part, albeit small, in a commercial for one of America’s most popular food chains – Hooters. Yep, Hooters. The place you go to when you want wings, beer, and maybe a little bit of a show.
While this wasn’t exactly the glitzy Hollywood dream most would hope for, it was a start. As it turns out, playing a role in the commercial was one of the best decisions Margot Robbie could have made. Here’s why.

How quickly the fortunes of a Hollywood studio head can change.
Just weeks after the word around town was that their jobs were in jeopardy, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group studio heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy have passed a key test of their film strategy and will likely live to fight another day thanks to the critical and commercial success of Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” and the birth of a new franchise with Jared Hess’ “A Minecraft Movie,” according to multiple insiders who spoke with TheWrap.
Coogler’s vampire horror film’s $48 million domestic opening weekend and extremely rare A CinemaScore — the first for a horror film in 39 years — has strengthened the pair’s position following earlier misfires like Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie à Deux” and Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17.”

VistaVision is back. Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” not only earned Lol Crawley the Best Cinematography Oscar but has sparked a renewed interest in the format — one that is now being further fanned by unconfirmed reports of the 35mm horizontal format also being used in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Bugonia,” Alejandro González Iñárritu’s untitled 2026 film, and Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights.”

Jacob Elordi is stepping into some of the most iconic roles in Gothic literature, and he knows exactly how lucky he is. Fresh off filming Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, Elordi reflected on the experience in a recent interview with Collider's Christina Radish while promoting The Narrow Road to the Deep North — and he couldn’t have sounded more thrilled about the prospect of adapting two of the most famous stories in the history of literature.

“I was really lucky,” he told IndieWire. “I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text.”
Elordi also raved that his co-star Margot Robbie, who plays his beloved Catherine Earnshaw, is “incredible in the film, she’s a livewire. I’m so, so excited for people to see it. She’s a beautiful actor and she gave so, so much.”

Jacob Elordi was planning on taking a break from acting — that is until “Saltburn” director Emerald Fennell asked him to play brooding hero Heathcliff in her upcoming adaptation of “Wuthering Heights.”
“I was really lucky. I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text,” he told IndieWire in an interview published on Friday.
Elordi also praised co-star Margot Robbie’s performance in the literary production. “She’s incredible in the film, she’s a live wire. I’m so, so excited for people to see it. She’s a beautiful actor and she gave so, so much.”
The Australian actor, who’s current in production on the long awaited Season 3 of “Euphoria,” previously worked with Fennell on 2023’s “Saltburn.”
He recently wrapped on “Guillermo del Toro’s re-imagining of “Frankenstein,” which will be out in November.

Jacob Elordi was ready to take some time off, until the opportunity for Wuthering Heights came about.
Shooting for Wuthering Heights recently wrapped in the U.K., and it’s Elordi’s second time working with the director Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman, The Danish Girl), since 2023’s Saltburn. So, when it came to casting for the project, the actor was able to skip the audition part.
“I was really lucky. I was going to take a break for a while, and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text,” Elordi told IndieWire.
The film stars Margot Robbie opposite Elordi, and is an adaption of Emily Brontë’s novel of the same name, which follows the tumultuous relationship between Catherine Earnshaw (Robbie) and Heathcliff (Elordi) that’s passionate and intense after meeting at the eponymous residence and the impact the relationship has on their families.

Hollywood actor Jacob Elordi has admitted that he found Adolescence breakout star, Owen Cooper, "intimidating" on the set of the new Wuthering Heightsmovie. Cooper plays the younger version of Elordi's Heathcliff – the literary leading man and tortured antihero of Emily Brontë's 1847 classic gothic romance novel – in Emerald Fennell's upcoming big-screen adaptation alongside Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw. The rising star appears to have made quite an impression on his costars, as Elordi recently shared his admiration for Cooper's talents.
Daily Mail reports that Elordi, who has previously starred in the likes of The Kissing Booth, Saltburn, and Priscilla, opened up about what it was like working with Cooper in a recent interview with 10 News First. The up-and-coming actor had no previous acting credits before playing 13-year-old Jamie Miller in the Netflix hit Adolescence, but it seems that experience is not always the best teacher, as his Wuthering Heights...

While we wait to see Homer’s Odyssey as a big-budget Christopher Nolan blockbuster, Italian producer-director Uberto Pasolini brings us the low-budget, character-piece version. Rather than trying to mount a vast, effects-packed naval adventure featuring gods and monsters, Pasolini sticks to location-based terra firma, and focuses his narrative on the grizzled protagonist’s homecoming.
The Return opens with Odysseus (Ralph Fiennes) washing up on a beach, and relies on good old-fashioned dialogue and performance to do the dramatic heavy lifting. There’s no reference to Odysseus’ adventures since leaving Troy — no recounted tales of sirens, the cyclops, or divine meddling. Here, we’re on the human level of psychology and emotion, making this a thoroughly modern, if relatively mundane, interpretation.
Ralph Fiennes is unsettlingly compelling as the broken hero.
On one side of the story we have Juliette Binoche as Penelope, Queen of Ithaca, wrestling with a kind of grief...

Brad Pitt is anything but a lazy producer. According to the ‘Adolescence’ director Philip Barantini, the ‘Wolfs’ star was very much a big help throughout the making of the show.
Brad Pitt Shared His Ideas During the Making of ‘Adolescence’
Brad Pitt is the one executive producer you’d love to have onboard when you’re working on any project, at least according to the director of the breakout Netflix show, ‘Adolescence.’
Speaking of Pitt’s involvement on the ‘Rest is Entertainment’ podcast, he gushed, “When we were pitching to Plan B, they kept saying, ‘We’re just waiting for Brad’s schedule.’ I thought, ‘It can’t be that Brad.’ But sure enough, there he was on the Zoom — such a lovely human being and a remarkably hands-on producer.”
Speaking more clearly on the ways Pitt’s involvement helped move the show forward, he said, “He gave feedback, shared ideas,...

Owen Cooper, the rising star of Netflix’s gripping drama Adolescence, has captivated audiences with a performance so raw and powerful that industry insiders are already whispering about Emmy gold.
At just 15, and with nothing but a weekly drama class on his resume, he delivered a performance that seasoned actors would envy. The four-episode miniseries, which debuted earlier this month, has already drawn critical acclaim, with its intense one-take cinematography and a story that lingers long after the credits roll.

CinemaCon as an annual event does not have quite the same name recognition of something like San Diego Comic-Con. After all, it’s a convention for regional theater owners from across the country talking about theatrical windows and looking new models of projectors.
And yet, increasingly, the major movie studios treat CinemaCon like it is Comic-Con. Fanboy bloggers are invited, the top trailers and new footage teases are touted, and a parade of A-listers take the stage at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum with pre-written hype sessions about their upcoming films.
No, not every year at the annual Las Vegas convention is as eventful as the one in which Olivia Wilde was served divorce papers on stage or when we were all convinced by some screaming fans that “The Flash” was going to be huge, but there’s quite a bit we’re curious to see this year on that (very) big screen.

Owen Cooper Audition Clip(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Owen Cooper’s audition tape for Adolescence has taken social media by storm, with fans already marking him as a rising star to watch. The 15-year-old actor, who clinched the role of Jamie Miller after competing against 500 other hopefuls, is now at the center of a viral moment and for a very good reason.

The story unravels the chilling case of a 13-year-old schoolboy arrested for the brutal murder of his female classmate, with each of its four episodes unfolding in a single, uninterrupted take. As “Adolescence” continues to ride its initial wave of success, Netflix has shared a video featuring clips from star Owen Cooper’s original auditions for the show.
A lot has been praised about “Adolescence” in the days since it premiered March 13. Its writing — namely, its fearless approach to exploring modern, online incel culture — has prompted plenty of acclaim and discussion, as has its one-take directorial style, which allows its four episodes to play out in impressive, unbroken takes. Few things, however, have blown “Adolescence” viewers away quite as much as the central performance given by Cooper.
The actor, at just 15-years-old, is commanding, terrifying and chilling as Jamie, the young boy whose arrest for the murder of a girl the same age kicks off the Netflix series. The actor is asked to do a lot in “Adolescence” and he rises to meet its various challenges, despite his young age and his inexperience with screen acting.

Netflix's Adolescence shocked the millions of viewers who have seen the four-part British drama about knife crime, toxic masculinity, and the normalization of violence against women. While everyone in the series, including Stephen Graham (who created and co-wrote the show), Ashley Walters, Faye Marsay, Erin Doherty, and Christine Tremarco, are amazing, few will argue that the standout star is Owen Cooper. The young actor plays Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering one of his female classmates. New photos from the set of Emerald Fennell's controversial adaptation of Wuthering Heights have leaked online, showing Margot Robbie stepping out as Catherine Earnshaw in a dramatic white wedding dress. However, it seems that life outside of plastic is far from fantastic for the Barbie actress, as fans of Emily Brontë's novel of the same name (on which the movie is based) have taken umbrage with the casting choice as well as the wardrobe department for dressing her in a style that is not deemed accurate to the period in which the story takes place.

On March 13, Netflix released arguably the best show that the streaming platform, and the world, for that matter, has seen in years. The crime miniseries Adolescence consists of four one-take episodes, which is an insane achievement in itself, but it also marks the debut of an incredible young actor. 15-year-old English actor, Owen Cooper, had his breakthrough role in director Philip Barantini’s Adolescence, portraying the role of Jamie Miller. Exploring the shocking reasons and chilling consequences when a young teenager murders another, Adolescence dives into each tiny detail of a family’s biggest nightmare.
All the actors attached to this project certainly did an outstanding job, making Adolescence the powerful series that it is, but Cooper’s performance stands out particularly. Warner Bros has just made some razor-sharp release-date changes ahead of CinemaCon, ones that could potentially keep the Burbank, CA lot more toward the black this year than in the red.
In a year when there were four $100 million-plus auteur-driven movies — one of which, Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, recently misfired — Warners Bros distribution has taken the pressure off the studios’ schedule in that regard, and even placed a potential tentpole into the year: Zach Cregger’s anticipated genre movie Weapons on August 8.
Cregger’s next movie after Barbarian was previously scheduled for MLK weekend 2026, on January 16. What kept Warners from moving the pic starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner and Alden Ehrenreich was that the theatrical release was tied to Imax screens — can’t give up those auditoriums. In fact, what made all of the release-date changes feasible for Warners was that each was tied to Imax bookings. As...

Jacob Elordi has come a long way since The Kissing Booth. Over the last three years, the Aussie actor has pushed himself time and again with starring roles in the likes of Saltburn, Priscilla, and Oh, Canada, working with such filmmakers as Emerald Fennell, Sofia Coppola, and Paul Schrader while honing his craft. And his latest role, as lovestruck Pow Dorrigo Evans in The Order director Justin Kurzel's five-part WWII miniseries The Narrow Road To The Deep North, looks to be the rising star's most challenging assignment yet. Check out the trailer for the show, adapted from Richard Flanagan's eponymous Booker Prize winning novel, below;

Did George Clooney and Margot Robbie have a face off? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia; Instagram )
The Ocean’s franchise is facing a stormy showdown as George Clooney and Margot Robbie lock horns over competing projects linked to the iconic heist series.
The 63-year-old Hollywood icon has reignited excitement by revealing that a promising script for Ocean’s 14 is ready to roll, with plans for him to reprise his role as the charming Danny Ocean. The proposed sequel dives into themes of aging, following Danny and his seasoned crew grappling with the reality that they’re no longer as spry as they once were.
Margot Robbie’s Frustration: A Prequel Under Threat
While this fresh narrative has intrigued fans, Robbie is reportedly less enthusiastic. The 34-year-old actress is believed to be “furious” behind the scenes, as Clooney’s surprise reveal threatens to overshadow her own planned Ocean’s prequel.

Owen Cooper is a name many might be talking about over the next few weeks — at least among those who manage to get through Netflix’s new limited series “Adolescence” in one piece.
The emotionally-devastating 4-part drama — from director Philip Barantini and written by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham — tells the gut-wrenching story of a British family whose world is turned upside down when their outwardly normal and well-adjusted 13-year-old son Jamie is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl in his class. Weeks before its launch date of March 13 it was being described in the U.K. press as one of the “most terrifying TV shows of our times” for its exploration of bullying, toxic masculinity and how a young mind from a seemingly loving home can be quietly radicalised by incel culture and the manosphere.
Adding to the intensity, each episode — like Barantini’s BAFTA-winning feature “Boiling Point...

Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film starring Leonardo DiCaprio — which, in quintessential PTA fashion, still doesn’t have an official title — packs a budget that’s not just several time higher than anything the 11-time Oscar-nominated director has ever worked with, but far bigger than his films have ever earned at the box office.
Some reports pegged it at $180 million, but an individual with knowledge tells IndieWire it’s actually $130 million. That almost as much as what Anderson’s most successful film to date, “There Will Be Blood,” made globally in 2007 ($76 million), if you factor in inflation ($143 million).
It’s also way more than the budget of his previous film, 2021’s “Licorice Pizza,” which seemed like a big gamble, even with $40 million. Turns out, it was: that film only grossed $33 million globally. But though Anderson has moved from MGM to Warner Bros., the same film chiefs gave Anderson both of...

Although HBO has been mostly tight-lipped about the castings given the massive standard that was set by its predecessor, as of now, John Lithgow is the lone star that has been confirmed to replace a major character from the movies.

HBO's Harry Potter TV series gears up to start shooting later this year. A huge cast reveal has to be somewhere on the horizon and, in the meantime, casting rumours for the cable network's take on author J.K. Rowling's beloved series of novels keep coming in thick and fast.
The 8-movie franchise grossed over $7.7 billion at the worldwide box office and there's plenty of interest in seeing a new approach to the books that expands on characters and moments there simply wasn't time for in a two-hour movie.
As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word today that, "Janet McTeer has been offered the role of Professor McGonagall in the upcoming Harry Potter series."
Deadline has also confirmed that McTeer is in talks and that Paapa Essiedu is pretty much a lock for Professor Severus Snape.
