Director Christopher White appears numerous times throughout the film both as extras as well as filling in for key cast members including Annessa and Charlie.
The entire film was shot on Kodak Tri-X Reversal black and white film stock. A total of 38 400' rolls were used.
The interior of Annessa's room was shot at a different location than the rest of the house. This is noticeable during Charlie's nightmare sequence when the bedroom door swings in the opposite direction to the door as it opens into the hallway.
The film was shot intermittently over a period of two and a half years. The scene in which Annessa and Charlie are interrupted during their beach picnic was cut with footage shot a year later across the street from the director's house.
The vicious dog attack scene was filmed with the director's family dog, Chan. The dog was more friendly and playful with the director, so he put on the costume for the close-ups of Charlie fighting the animal.
