- Season 2 seems to be much more graphic as the first and justifies the mature audience rating. It contains incredibly violent killings with most taking place all onscreen.
- In season 1 episode 1 near the end we see a man punch Luke cage we then see a close up of his hand breaking and his knuckle coming out his hand.The scene is gory but only lasts a couple seconds
- People are shot with handguns, 1 character is shot with a shotgun which blows a hole in him - blood sprays (it's a dark night scene so gore isn't super visible) a guys face gets beaten and bits of blood and flesh fly on the face of the guy doing the beating. people get shot, thrown through a window. In one episode, a teenager gets his finger chopped off onscreen.

- Several n words, one f word muttered but written out in closed captioning, moderate language consists many uses of shit, including bullshit, goddamn and bitch in reference to women; other profanities all fairly frequent.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

- Pops talks about a man who went from selling drugs, to doing drugs. This is only talked about and never shown.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- In season 1, episode 1: A thug punches Luke Cage in the face, we see an up close shot of the man's hand breaking in slow motion, the bone breaks out as blood gushes down his hand. Then unharmed Luke Cage grabs the same man, and throws him through a window.

Sex & Nudity
- The most explicit sex scene is quite mild. We see Cage touch Knight's breasts, and there's multiple shots of her rear in 'racy' underwear. The shirtless Cage removes his trousers, and there's a brief shot of an incredibly large bulge. The scene continues in the bedroom briefly
- Season 1, episode 7: A man says, "Luke Cage does not watch porn." This is said for a police investigation.
Violence & Gore
- In one episode, a man gets his eyes cut out with a knife. He screams in true agony as blood can be seen from the wound. Very violent and disturbing.
- A family member taunts an adult survivor of sexual abuse, saying that she wanted it. She snaps and beats her cousin to death, screaming "I didn't want it!" Flashbacks of the murder are shown in following episodes.
