An attack on Alison sends Raylan to Harlan in search of payback. Boyd scrambles to arrange protection for Ava.
Considering the dramatic ending to last week's episode, 'Kill the Messenger' makes for a decent follow-up, if only because of how bad the respective situations are becoming for Boyd and Ava. Raylan continues to be in the doghouse for the Nicky Augustine execution, and Art's reaction was plenty unnerving; they still haven't patched things up.
But Boyd's become the focus, partnering with the Crowes and turning to Mexico for a new heroin supplier. And hey, as long as he keeps the focus off of said Crowes, it's good TV.
