    Edit
    • Trivia
HIMYM prop master David Baker confirmed via Twitter that they also shot a scene in which Robin is performing "Let's Go To The Mall" at her wedding reception with The Mother's band, Superfreakonomics. This too was cut from the final aired episode.
    • Goofs
When older Ted is talking to his kids in the same room, the room is much brighter on the kids side while Ted's side of the room is much darker.
    • Quotes

Ted: It was at times a long, difficult road. But I'm glad it was long and difficult, because if I hadn't gone through hell to get there, the lesson might not have been as clear. You see, kids, right from the moment I met your mom, I knew... I have to love this woman as much as I can for as long as I can, and I can never stop loving her, not even for a second. I carried that lesson with me through every stupid fight we ever had, every 5:00 a.m. Christmas morning, every sleepy Sunday afternoon, through every speed bump. Every pang of jealousy or boredom or uncertainty that came our way, I carried that lesson with me. And I carried it with me when she got sick. Even then, in what can only be called the worst of times, all I could do was look at her and thank God, thank every god there is, or ever was, or will be, and the whole universe, and anyone else I can possibly thank that I saw that beautiful girl on that train platform, and that I had the guts to stand up, walk over to her, tap her on the shoulder, open my mouth, and speak.

    • Alternate versions
The alternate ending uses footage from previous episodes of the show, to explain what Ted went through in order to eventually meet the mother. The ending also eliminates several controversial decisions in the original ending, such as the death of the mother, Ted talking with his kids and the moment in which he visits Robin.

    Odd
The word i used is "odd" - there wasnt really a point to killing her off. I didnt watch this show till 3 years ago, and i binged it - hard. I think i watched all seasons within 2 or 3 months. When Tracy died off screen, i was confused. It wasnt even "sad", it just felt useless and weird emotional manipulation (similar to showing that Fry's dog did indeed wait for Fry forever). Then finding out the writers didnt agree with it, but backed themselves into a corner - because of the kids. WHo cares - showing some age inconsistancies with the kids would be WAY more forgivable if we got the "happily ever after" ending Tracy's character deserved. Or at least a couple of Edits - 1-give us at least a 30 second montage of Ted mourning throughout the years 2-after Ted's kids tell Ted to get Robin, he shouldve went outside and looked up and had a conversation with Tracy (callback to Tracy and Max). Then something like the wind blows the umbrella towards the restaurant with the french horn or something 3-OR instead of line 2 - Robin, finally ready to settle down, she is the one who goes outside and looks up, and has a conversation with Tracy and something like "you were the best of us and went too young. I promise i will treat Ted well, and i want your blessi"..then gets interrupted by a gust of wind, blowing the yellow umbrella towards Ted getting out of the cab. Bascially something to show that Tracy at a bigger impact on the characters.
