There won't be a second season of The Wil Wheaton Project on Syfy. The summer comedy series has been cancelled after 12 episodes.
Actor/host Wil Wheaton broke the news on his blog, writing that he got the bad news while on his way home from a walk on the beach with his wife.
Though disappointed about the cancellation, Wheaton says...
I’m grateful, though, to the people at Syfy who believed in us and gave us a chance to succeed. I’m grateful for the creative support we got, and I’m grateful that I got to spend my summer working with wonderful, talented, funny people. I grew a lot of levels in comedy writing over the last 18 weeks or so, and I owe it all to the amazing people I got to work with.

Champion of nerds Wil Wheaton announced on his blog yesterday that his Syfy talk show, The Wil Wheaton Project, has been canceled. He got the call while he was hanging out on the beach with his wife, and says that he immediately knew it was bad news. He writes that the New York executives never seemed "to really understand what kind of show we were doing, who I was and why I was hosting it, and how to engage with and promote to the audience who would like it," which led to the show's demise. Generally, though, he's pretty zen about it, and also writes an post-script asking to let the cancellation be what it is. Oh, and let me just stop this before it starts: we nerds have a penchant for letter-writing campaigns and stuff to try and save shows we like. Please don’t do that here. It...

Syfi is cleaning house and one of those moves is to drop lifeless projects. Sadly that was the case for Wil Wheaton and his pet project The Wil Wheaton Project. The show aired one season with Wil hosting the show that served really as a random one. It turned out that the ratings were not enough to keep the network pleased with the short season over the summer. Here is what Wil had to say about the sad announcement.
(they) just didn’t think we had enough viewers to justify more episodes…..Oh, and let me just stop this before it starts: We nerds have a penchant for letter-writing campaigns and stuff to try and save shows we like. Please don’t do that here. It’s not going to happen, and we should instead put that energy into something else, like getting #butts to trend.

Wil Wheaton announced the cancellation of ”The Wil Wheaton Project” by Syfy on his blog. According to the actor, he got the call after spending several hours walking along the beach. “I'm about to make your day less great,” said an unnamed Syfy executive, according to Wheaton. He wrote that he wanted to point out that his show had ratings on par with E!'s “The Soup,” but figured there was really no point. He added that he told his wife, “I'm really okay with it.” See video: ‘Game of Thrones’ Meets ‘Brady Bunch’ in Wil Wheaton's Alternate Opening...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles's upcoming release has sparked a wave of interest in the heroes in a half-shell, but not everyone is on board with the new reboot. Wil Wheaton has released a new video called "Literally Everything Else From Your Childhood: The Movie", and it spoofs modern-day efforts to stir up 80s and 90s nostalgia. Wheaton was born in 1972, so the actor, TV host, and geek king can safely call himself an 80s kid. That designation makes him a target audience for film reboots of iconic 80s franchises, but Wheaton clearly isn't a fan of the new versions of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His response is a fake trailer that must make the Angry Nerd proud. Wheaton created the video as part of his SyFy show, The Wil Wheaton Project. The whole thing feels like your typical nostalgic Buzzfeed listicle, but with a tongue-in-cheek attitude.

Redoing the "Game of Thrones" title sequence in a variety of styles has become a geeky pastime, seemingly, and Wil Wheaton, the former "Star Trek" star and big time geek, has now thrown his hat into the ring with a "Brady Bunch" mash-up that is actually pretty funny and endearing. And you can watch it below!
The clip comes courtesy of his new Syfy series "The Wil Wheaton Project," which apparently is like a super nerdy version of "Talk Soup," with Wheaton standing in front of a green screen and throwing to things (and maybe talking about nerdy news topics, we're not sure). Anyway, as he admits, the "Game of Thrones" opening credits are maybe some of the best in television history but do a crummy job of explaining the complicated interpersonal relationships of the characters... which can obviously be rectified by a "Brady Bunch"-style opening.

Wil Wheaton is a huge fan of “Game of Thrones” and a huge fan of the opening sequence, in which the viewers is transported across a 3-d animated map of the land of Westeros, seeing all of the different cities and locations where the show's action takes place. Also read: ‘Game of Thrones’ Brutally Decapitates Yet Another Piracy Record With Season Finale He acknowledged that it gave “a wonderful view of Westeros and it's houses,” but it was seriously lacking in the character department. Now that he has his own show with “The Wil Wheaton Project,” the actor had the resources to take.

Vern Yip confirmed to Access Atlanta that Hgtv has cancelled Hgtv Design Star. Yip said ratings were still good, so I’m guessing a bigger issue is that later seasons of the show never found a designer who matched the impact of David Bromstad.
Matt Smith says he’s already asking when Doctor Who will do a story featuring multiple Doctors, so he can return to the series. As long as they manage to keep these meetings of the Doctors from feeling commonplace, I’m all for it.
The Daily Beast declares that last week’s Modern Family wedding was a “landmark moment for marriage equality” for a variety of reasons. That includes Modern Family position as a mainstream hit, the fact that their wedding was a special episode but not a “very special” episode and that the couple involved were a regular characters with a prominent role every week.

Wil Wheaton just raised a lot of money to play nerdy board games. The actor and host of the upcoming SyFy series The Wil Wheaton Project has completed a $500,000 Indiegogo campaign and ensured a third season of TableTop, his popular board game-oriented YouTube show. Wheaton launched the $500,000 campaign on April 5th in search of the money he needed to produce a third season of TableTop, which lives on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel. His viewers came through with aplomb, raising the necessary funds in just five days. As a result, a 15 episode third season has been greenlit. A number of stretch goals should keep the grand total rolling higher. If TableTop raises $750,000, five more episodes will be added; if it reaches a cool million, Wheaton will develop a spin-off show where he and his guests play tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons. Wheaton explained all of these stretch goals...
