- With one last chance to take Paris, Ragnar and his Viking troops take a daring chance. Ragnar asks Bjorn for a favor that could change the course of Viking history.
- Emperor Charles sends Count Odo with the booty that was agreed to but a month later, the vikings have yet to leave. Odo learns that Ragnar is dying and that he would like to have a Christian burial. Ragnar's conversion to Christianity does not sit well with his warriors who all agree that he cannot continue as king now that he has rejected their gods but they are simply biding their time. When the day of Ragnar's funeral arrives, he is taken to the cathedral for the funeral mass. The vikings have a surprise in store for everyone.—garykmcd
- Ragnar is dying, but determined to get into heaven and score a last triumph in Paris. Count Odo gets the princess, who refused marriage, to subject to his sadistic fantasy and convinces the emperor to pay off the Vikings, but they don't actually sail back home, claiming Ragnar is too sick to travel. Floki's fury over the converted chief culminates, while must warriors mourn, when he must supply a traditional boat-shaped coffin for Ragnar's funeral in the cathedral. However it's a ruse to take the imperial party hostage and ransack Paris before Ragnar sails home with most men. Rollo stays behind to raid the city again after winter, but the emperor makes him an offer too good to refuse: the unwilling princess Gisla's hand to seal his elevation to imperial duke in Normandy, if he defends Paris against his Norse countrymen, as Frankish vassals and allies didn't turn up.—KGF Vissers
- The Northmen do not leave the camp and Count Odo is sent to know why they are still near Paris. The Vikings explain that Ragnar is too weak to travel and he would like to have a Christian burial. Ragnar's leadership is questioned by his men since now he is Christian. Ragnar talks to Bjorn in private and makes a request. Floki builds his last ship for Ragnar and he dies. The Vikings take Ragnar to the cathedral in Paris and they have a surprise.
