"my 3rd closed case today ... wanted to make sure you didn't die before I had a chance to brag about it."

At the 38:00 minute mark of this massively entertaining episode Reese delivers this throwaway line.

What is especially interesting is that he does it in a Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry) voice (which BTW is very close to his own voice), and this is the precisely the sort of one-liner that, back in the day, they used to give to Clint.

Of course, this could all be in my fevered imagination.

Or, alternatively, the writing team behind this hit show is so darn far ahead of the curve that they knew that the "new refurbished" Reese was playing a cop (part of the re-imagining of the show discussed in my earlier reviews) and they simply could not resist.

Personally I think they could not resist.

The most amazing thing about this episode is how smooth the transitions are, like a well-aged Scotch. They are only three episodes into the fourth season, with the new "story rules" that they (the writers) imposed on themselves, yet the whole thing ticks along like a Swiss Watch.

This is not merely a hit show but a hit show that simply refuses to rest on its laurels.

Great episode

The Plot of The Machine
claudio_carvalho5 March 2024
Reese and Fusco are chasing an armed criminal, and Reese shoots his leg. His Captain Moreno calls the attention of Reese, since it is the fourth time he has shoot the leg of a criminal under her command. The Machine delivers the number of the former longshoreman and presently a "wingman" Andre Cooper to Finch. However, Reese cannot afford time for the investigation and Fusco replaces him with Shaw. Shaw learns that Cooper has recently testified about a missing gun shipment when he worked as a longshoreman, and recently he has slept with the wife of a client. Finch hires Cooper's service for two days and he meets Fusco in a bar. Fusco buys new clothes under the instruction of Cooper, and they go to another bar to meet women. However, a man tries to punch Cooper and Fusco stops the man that is arrested. Then, Fusco and Cooper are kidnapped by the dockworker named Mickey, who was a former friend of Copper, and Fusco learns why Cooper changed profession and what Mickey wants with him. Reese arrests many suspects, impressing Captain Moreno. Meanwhile, Root visits Finch and asks him to go with her. He poses of a tough man and they buy an anti-tank rocket launcher from a gang. Then, they look for mobsters to sell the weapon. The true intention of the Machine's plot is shown to them.

"Wingman" is a full of action and funny episode of "Person of Interest", with great segments. Det. Reese arrests many criminals in a funny way, with the support of Capt. Moreno. Fusco saves Cooper's life and learns how to hit on women. The Machine provides money and an arsenal to Finch. My vote is eight.
