Wait what?

I'll try to be nice. The actor's are all ok in this movie. Alexis Dziena even delivers a really good performance. But story and characters are just a mess. We are supposed to like the main character but for 40 straight minutes we get no reason to do that because he is acting like a brat without giving us a glimpse of why we should still care. But don't worry after 40 minutes his character will do a complete 180 for no apparent reason. Which ist the first "wait what" moment. From that point on we will get a lot of these. It is like pieces of the movie are missing. Characters suddenly change without us seeing why. Same goes for the character arc of our main character. We got a therapist that never acts like one breaking every rule there is and a very odd score. So shutout to the actors. They really tried their best to make this work.

could have been but isn't

I would not have written this review if the director wouldn't have rushed to complete this movie all of a sudden after 80 minutes. Don't get me wrong. I like open ends. But this was a case of...... damn we have no money anymore. Let's end the movie here with a couple of flashbacks, weird conclusions and so on.

Even with everything that is written below but with a decent ending this movie would have been okay(-ish). But this is no go..... And no it is not arty, clever, mystereous or whatever they came up with. The last 5 minutes are complete rubbish.

Allmost none of characters have background stories. Father just wears a sailor hat, acts depressed with his new toy wife. Main characters acts like a spoiled kid for 30-40 minutes without any reason (that we know of). And changes into a nice guy with any indication why he changed. Sister looks at brother like she is in love with him. Girlfriend tries to be mystereous but isn't. Therapists role.... I don't even explain how bad that part is but could have been great.

Don't get me wrong. The acting is good but the storyline and directing has been executed in a vway that hardly passes the admission of any filmschool. And just for the ending of this movie alone, any filmstudent should have been send home.

This could have been a real nice movie with the same actors but with a different editor and director.
