Sleepaway Camp icon Felissa Rose will star in the indie slasher The Last Sleepover.
A group of former friends reunite on the night of their 20-year high school reunion. Once part of an elite clique called The Pastels, they harbor a dark secret — years ago, they tormented a less fortunate girl in a cruel prank that ended in tragedy.
After the reunion, they continue the night at an Airbnb for one last sleepover, but the celebration quickly turns into a nightmare. A masked killer begins hunting them down one by one, seeking revenge for the sins of their past.
Rose will play the adult Pastel, Talia Lopes, with Spooky Madison (Phantom Fun-World) as a younger version of the character. Audri Curtsinger, Jason Crowe, Ashe Parker, and Tj Moreschi round out the ensemble.
Production is set to begin next month in Kentucky with Gregory W. Brock directing from a script he co-wrote with Austin J. Rutherford.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? Jennifer Love Hewitt’s unforgettable portrayal of Julie James in the 1997 slasher hit I Know What You Did Last Summer isn’t just another horror movie performance – it’s a cultural touchstone that helped define an entire era of teen horror.
The way she brought Julie to life, from those iconic screams to those intense emotional moments, gave us one of the most compelling final girls in horror history.

Jennifer Love Hewitt was the latest guest on Mayim Bialik’s “Breakdown” podcast (via US Weekly) and recalled how it wasn’t until she was in her thirties that she registered just how much the media sexualized her as a teenager. The actor got her breakthrough on titles “Party of Five” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” both of which were released to much fanfare when Hewitt was 16 to 18 years old.
“In my thirties, I went back and looked at that time again and I was like, ‘Oh my God’,” Hewitt said. “There were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts just openly on a talk show, and people were laughing about it. I don’t even remember that. I really didn’t take that part in, but in hindsight it was really strange I think to become a sex symbol sort of for people before...

Are we in for more visitations from the ghosts of Ghostfaces past? Despite being killed off in the first Scream back in 1996, Ghostface killer Skeet Ulrich lingered in the mind of one of the lead characters in Scream (2022) and its follow-up Scream VI… and now Scott Foley, who played the Ghostface killer in Scream 3 back in 2000, has signed on to join the cast of the currently-in-production Scream 7. As Deadline notes, Foley played “antagonist Roman Bridger, the film director and half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell)” in Scream 3. Ulrich’s character was seen in hallucinations had by his daughter in the most recent Scream sequels, so maybe Sidney will be having hallucinations of her dead half-brother in the new film. Or maybe they’ll work Foley into this one in a different way…

In the late 90s, the ultimate “It girl” was Jennifer Love Hewitt. The actress started young in movies like Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit and House Arrest. She would then breakthrough with her role as Sarah in the successful Fox drama series Party of Five. That show led to movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Can’t Hardly Wait. She became a 90s sex symbol as she donned the cover of magazines, crossed over into the music business as a singer and became the spokesperson for Neutrogena skin care.
US Weekly reports that Hewitt recently appeared on the Breakdown podcast with fellow 90s child star, Mayim Bialik. The Party of Five star looked back at her time as a sex symbol and recalled,

Jennifer Love Hewitt rose to fame in the late ’90s. That can be a bit of a mixed bag.
Though this has led to a lengthy career for the current 9-1-1 star, there were perhaps even more drawbacks to being a young, famous actress a quarter of a century ago than there are now.
Simply put, a lot of men are creeps towards teen girls. Back then, gross comments on her body were very normalized in the culture.
Hewitt is now a mom herself, and she’s had time to process how appalling the sexualization really was.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking back on some “mind blowing” comments she received after her star-making turn in I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Hewitt was 16 when she filmed the 1997 slasher hit, but the project’s success did not prepare her for the reactions she received from adults while promoting the movie.
The 45-year-old appeared on Mayim Bialik’s podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown this week, where she discussed her experience.
“When I Know What You Did Last Summer came out, everybody said, ‘Oh, I know what your breasts did last summer,'” she recalled. “There were grown men talking to me at 16 about my breasts openly on a talk show — and people were laughing about it. It was a culture that was fully accepted. But when you sit and look at where we are now versus then, it is really mind blowing.”

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm. But then Ortega allegedly asked for a substantial pay raise – and as we saw when Neve Campbell dropped out of Scream VI due to a pay dispute, these pay issues don’t tend to work out. Then Barrera was fired from the project after comments she made about the Israel-Hamas war didn’t go over well with executives at Spyglass. Landon dropped out the of the project soon after. So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role, while Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplay for the original Scream, directs the film from a screenplay by 2022’s Scream...

Adam Scott is currently riding high on the success of the mind-bending sci-fi show Severance. The actor plays Mark Scout, a manager at the offices of Lumon Industries, who has gone through the severance procedure in the show and is disconnected from his non-work self. The show is streaming on Apple TV+.
While Scott is known for his roles in sitcoms like Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, and Big Little Lies, the actor only became the lead in Severance. However, he might have gotten the chance a tad bit earlier as he had auditioned for a key role in The Office. However, he lost the role to one of the most beloved actors in the series.

The question comes up whenever we publish this list: Why only studio movies? Isn’t this IndieWire?
But here’s the thinking: For most moviegoers and for many filmmakers, helming a studio-backed film is the pinnacle of a career, or at least the pinnacle of visibility. Getting the chance to helm a studio feature is, of course, not the golden ticket for any director. It’s not the end-all, be-all. It may not even be a goal for many filmmakers.
By looking at this portion of the release calendar (and all the box office bucks that come with it), we can get a sense of who Hollywood is letting into its most rarefied spaces. And that matters.
As we’ve too often discovered in the making of this list, that landscape isn’t really changing. While the most recent USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative study does not quite show a decline in inclusion,...

I Know What You Did Last Summer is about to get a new sequel with a new cast and its two main legacy characters, through which it’s officially fixing the second movie’s ending, but risks repeating a huge legacy sequel mistake. Despite some failures, the horror genre continues to thrive with reboots and legacy sequels, through which it has brought back to life franchises that had seemingly ended years ago. Among the most exciting additions to this trend is I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is returning after a forgotten direct-to-video sequel in 2006 and a failed TV show in 2021.
Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie follows the blueprint of legacy sequels with a new, younger cast and the main characters from the first two movies: Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr) and Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Plot details about...

Death is right around the corner. The popular horror franchise Final Destination is officially returning later this year, and now we have a release date! The sixth film in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, will hit theaters on May 16, 2025.
Bloodlines is the first new entry into the franchise since the fifth film was released in 2011. This May is an apt time to release the latest movie because it comes just a few months after the franchise's 25th anniversary. The original film, directed by James Wong, came out in 2000.
Details regarding the plot of Bloodlines are being kept under wraps, but there are theories that this film will focus on how Death could stalk the children of survivors. The title itself sounds like it could be hinting toward familial relationships.

While the duo have finally been confirmed to be coming back, Freddie Prinze Jr. has some surprising insight about Julie and Ray's return in the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel. The Bait: A Low-Budget Party So Bad You’ll Feel Functionally Drunk
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Two British couples, an American tourist, and some dude named Spud walk into an abandoned hotel. Inside, it’s “The Shining” meets “I Know What You Did Last Summer” meets “The Invisible Man” with just a dash of “Scooby Doo!” They’re trapped there forever. The end.
Better constructed than that joke (but not by much!), director Norman J. Warren’s seasonal disasterpiece from 1987 makes no sense. It is, however, mostly set on New Year...

Air Force One, the quintessential late ’90s action thriller, remains a beloved classic. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, the film flaunts a stellar cast including Harrison Ford as the heroic U.S. President, Gary Oldman as the ruthless villain, and Glenn Close as the Veep.

Despite its moments of cheesy dialogue, the movie is a visual treat, blending high-stakes action with a whole lot of patriotism. And now, almost three decades later, a sequel might just be taking flight, thanks to Ford still being a total force of nature!
Could Harrison Ford’s Air Force One be taking flight again?

Warning: Some Spoilers lie ahead for I Know What You Did Last Summer!
The '90s marked a revolutionary shift for the horror genre as filmmakers started to focus on the slasher formula, thanks in large part to Scream's success. One of the keys to that movie's success was writer Kevin Williamson, who not only went on to pen its direct sequel, but also found success with 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer. Unfortunately, that success is far more of a financial one than a critical one, and some 27 years later, it's pretty clear why reviewers weren't so kind to it.
Loosely based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel I Know What You Did Last Summer, this 1997 slasher follows a group of friends who, after covering up a car accident, are stalked by a killer wielding a hook. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr.,...

Philomena Cunk asking the big questions; the return of one of film history’s greatest villains; the start of a groundbreaking rights deal for live wrestling; an epic Western drama that captures the brutality of the American frontier; Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz headlining a spy caper; and Gabriel Basso returning to his breakout role are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in January.
On Jan. 2, we will see the welcome return of Philomena Cunk on Netflix, perhaps the world’s greatest investigative reporter who is simultaneously the worst informed person on TV. Actor Sarah Michelle Gellar re-entered the spotlight with her role in the Paramount+ series Dexter: Original Sin. In the show, Gellar plays Tanya Martin, a new character introduced in this prequel to Dexter. Martin is the CSI Chief of Miami Metro Homicide and the one who teaches the young protagonist Dexter Morgan, now played by Patrick Gibson, everything he knows about blood splatter analysis in his early years as a forensics specialist and secret serial killer.
Fittingly credited as a special guest star, Gellar portrays a significant character in Dexter's origin story with her performance as Martin. Also, due to her previous acting roles and status as a legendary TV icon, Gellar is a perfect choice to feature in the cast of Dexter: Original Sin. Her role in the show is especially ideal for her, as the last TV series she starred in failed to give her the role and project she deserved.

The actor, who broke out on General Hospital, says, “It’s very sweet” to be dubbed the “internet’s new boyfriend” by fans of the hit Netflix series.
A defining moment unfolds in the opening episode of Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. During a charged family dinner, Lyle’s wig is abruptly snatched away by his mother, Kitty. For Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who plays Lyle, this pivotal moment provided both a challenge and a breakthrough in his portrayal.
“I had set up the wig to be really symbolic for Lyle in terms of the mask that he wears and the kind of person that he presents himself as to the world,” Chavez explains to Gold Derby. “What happens when there is no mask? What happens when you can no longer pretend to be something that you’re not? And who is the person that is revealed?...

The horror genre keeps riding the wave of legacy sequels and reboots, through which some of the biggest franchises have been brought back to life – so it’s not that surprising that two unlikely horror franchises are returning, too. The film industry has greatly benefited from reboots and legacy sequels in recent years, mostly in the horror genre, even if not all of these have succeeded. Franchises like The Exorcist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre returned with one movie that didn’t perform well, while others like Friday the 13th continue to face many challenges that stop them from coming back.
Other horror franchises have greatly benefited from this trend, as happened with Halloween and Scream, while others will be getting a new chance, as is the case for The Exorcist. All these franchises are some of the most successful, popular, and profitable ones in the genre, so it was...

Countless beloved movies and TV shows have been revived in recent years, and now Buffy the Vampire Slayer could finally join those ranks due to some recent actor news. Initially released in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a paranormal drama following Buffy Summers, a teenage girl who is also known as the Slayer, a mythical figure who is destined to protect the world from vampires and other supernatural creatures. With the help of her best friends and her school's librarian, Buffy fulfills her duty, while also dealing with the typical problems of high schoolers.
There is no doubt that recent years have seen a spike in remakes, spinoffs, and revivals. Some of these have proven themselves to be successful, reigniting the love for older franchises. Of course, others have been less successful. Yet, these types of projects keep cropping up and making audiences yearn for their personal favorite series to make a return.

So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role – and in recent weeks, a supporting cast has been forming around her. Deadline reports that the latest addition to the cast is Sam Rechner,...

Beef between celebrities is certainly not uncommon in the entertainment industry. While some may openly talk about their distaste for each other, others leave room for speculation. Now, netizens are noticing a possible underlying beef between I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) actresses, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

The slasher film follows the story of a group of young adults who accidentally commit a murder and decide to form a pact to bury the news. However, their past catches up to them rather quickly. Considered to be a timeless addition to the genre, I Know What You Did Last Summer is currently working on a reboot. Although, it looks like the two stars might not be too stoked to possibly be working with each other. Or at least that’s what the Internet believes.

So Scream 7 has been re-developed, Campbell has signed on to return as franchise heroine Sidney Prescott, back in the lead role – and last month, it was announced that Isabel May of the Yellowstone prequel 1883 has signed on to play Sidney’s daughter.

Before Sarah Michelle Gellar became a Primetime TV Icon with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, before she became a big-screen icon with Cruel Intentions, she was a Daytime TV Icon with All My Children. On AMC, she played Kendall Hart, the daughter of the legendary Erica Kane. She ultimately crushed the character and conquered daytime soaps before exiting to star in Buffy and a zillion other TV shows and movies. An audience at a fan event in Brazil recently gave Smg her well-deserved flowers with thundering applause and a standing ovation. Gellar felt the emotion.
