Raymond 'Red' Reddington: You know, 29 years ago in Sierra Leone, there was a farmer named Samwel Zuma who had the audacity to identify several low-level Mombasa operatives to local authorities. Blacklist meets Texas Chainsaw .. and they make it work
12 April 2015 | by A_Different_DrummerSee all my reviews

The "in" thing today in TV drama is to constantly keep the audience off-guard.

It is a tricky road to walk. You spend time and dollars building a formula and then, without warning, you ditch it and try to take things up a notch.

Initially I had my doubts about this episode. It is WAY outside the usual story arc. But it gradually builds momentum until by the climax you feel like you are watching the sort of iconic play that CABIN IN THE WOODS tried so desperately to de-construct.

Although odd in the context of the series, the episode is truly mesmerizing. Peter Fonda -- and I am guessing most readers of this review will not remember his breakout role as a biker -- was nothing less than flat-out creepy.

Props for taking the risk. Props for delivering the goods.
