Violence & Gore

  • Moderate portrayals of violence are depicted, but without detail.
  • The film contains some scenes of violence where the characters are fighting with weapons such as swords or fighting off fearsome creatures like a giant skeleton and a giant centipede.
  • In the opening of the film, a woman is thrown underwater by a wave. Her head is shown striking a rock and a trail of blood follows as she drifts away.
  • A character is wounded in a fight by a steel claw, which remains in her side for a few seconds. Her wound is red and glistening.

Profanity

  • "Hell" is heard a few times. "damn" is used once.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the Sisters is briefly shown with a pipe.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The villains of the movie are quite unsettling and disturbing at times, Especially when the final showdown is done.
  • The sisters will give any child nightmares, with their expressionless faces and scary voices. Very scary.
  • Any of the scenes with the two sisters would qualify.

Violence & Gore

  • In the beginning, a baby's eye is missing. The missing eye is covered with a bandage and some blood is shown leaking through it. This scene is very disturbing and painful to watch, especially for a film generally aimed at children like this.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are a bunch of emotional deaths throughout the movie.
  • Kubo almost drowns in one scene, leading to an emotional reunion with Monkey, her begging him to wake up.
  • Very scary and suspenseful underwater scene involving a sea monster with bright glowing eyes on tentacles that puts Kubo in a trance and almost eats him.
