The Publicists Guild has unveiled its film nominees for its 2024 Icg Publicists Awards, which will be handed out in March.
Up for the Maxwell Weinberg Award for Motion Picture Publicity Campaign honoring outstanding achievement in publicity in 2023 are the individuals and teams behind Amazon/MGM Studios’ Air, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Barbie, Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4, Walt Disney Studios’ The Little Mermaid, Netflix’s Maestro, Universal Pictures’ Oppenheimer, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
The Weinberg prize honors active members working in film whose achievements in publicity and promotion during the previous calendar year are deemed outstanding. The trophy will be handed out during the 61st Annual Icg Publicist Awards luncheon on March 8 at The Beverly Hilton.

Exclusive: We hear that Paul Thomas Anderson’s new 1970s San Fernando Valley movie is jumping from Focus Features to MGM. Neither studio would confirm, but we know it’s a deal that’s going down, according to sources. The production is leaving the Universal specialty label that made his Best Picture Oscar-nominated period feature Phantom Thread, which grossed nearly $48M worldwide. CAA Media Finance represents the new film.
The Valley movie did not go into production prior to the shutdown of feature productions during the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s unclear at this time whether Anderson was on a timeline and therefore needed to get this movie done and filming, or if the production was too costly for Focus. Phantom Thread was made for an estimated $35M.

Bet Networks has named Marisa Levy Vice President of Unscripted Programming, a role in which she will oversee the development of all unscripted programming for the network. Her hire comes amid a leadership shift at Bet Networks in which Scott Mills took the helm as President in January following the departure of CEO Debra Lee, and last month’s appointment of new Chief Brand Officer Vince Hudson. Based in Los Angeles, Levy will be responsible for growing Bet’s unscripted programming slate in all genres. She’ll report directly to Connie Orlando, Evp Programming, Bet Networks.
