Interesting and engaging mini-series.

This series had a Twin Peaks feel to it by starting off with a murder of a young lady in a small town. I found the characters and story quite interesting as it went on. If you like murder mysteries then you cant go wrong with this show. You will be reading subtitles as it is all in German.

Very Underrated Series A MUST WATCH
itriatay99531 August 2023
First of all it was so difficult to find this TV serie, it took months to find a German online channel to watch it. This is directly related to being underrated. This TV series is a must because it has one of the shocking endings ever. You need to be patient while you are watching each episode and you need to be concentrated well because there are small clues that you may help you to guess the ending. The acting is exceptional and the dark atmosphere is well filmed. I have seen another serie of Franzen which is called Lauchhammer. I must say that this is 100 times better than Lauchhammer and this series should be on Netflix instead. Watch it folks !

Great premise but ultimately only middling
max4movie3 January 2019
Full Review on my blog max4movies: Weinberg is a 6-part mystery miniseries (total runtime 322 minutes) set in a small village in the West of Germany. Surrounded by vineyards, the village is remote from other cities and has many rather weird inhabitants. The series follows the amnesiac character Johannes Fuchs (credited "the Hero") who awakes on top of a vineyard only to witness the death of a beautiful young woman. The mystery genre is often hit (e.g., Picnic at Hanging Rock) or miss (e.g., Lady in the Water), as movies or series need to create an atmosphere that makes it easier for viewers to suspense disbelief. A perfect example is Twin Peaks (1990-1991) which features an array of strange characters living in a confined space showing very curious behavior. Weinberg proves the mystery genre can succeed on a modest budget, because the premise is intriguing and believable. However, in many ways the show fails to parallel its great overall concept with matching quality in direction, editing, and actors' performances. Overall, I would recommend this show to fans of the mystery genre, although it might just serve as a decent starter for what the creators could achieve with a higher budget and more time. Boring and drawn out - the slogan of this film
boriska_gn1 June 2022
What can I say about this TV series ... very boring, extremely (!) dragged out for no reason. The authors are constantly trying to scare the viewer, gloomy environment, dim light, etc... but that's ALL of what this "masterpiece" consists of. Another fake, where they try to compensate for the emptiness and meaninglessness of the plot with "atmosphere"
